Esther

“Hey,” Dominic says gently. “You okay?”

I blink. “I have been screaming, haven’t I?”

He nods.

“How long have I been out?” I ask him.

“Just a few hours. How are you feeling?”

“I feel fine. I had the weirdest dream. No, a nightmare, and I don’t remember the last time I had a nightmare. It felt so real.”

“What was the dream about?” he sits on the edge of the bed.

“It was us in the olden days. You know, during those times when there were no cars and stuff, we used horses, and I think I was human in that dream.”

“What happened in the dream?” he asks.

“Jane, Logan and my parents were lying in a pool of blood. I don’t know how they ended up in that state...”

“Esther, that wasn’t a dream. It was real.” He frowns in confusion. “You are getting your memories back,” he says more to himself than to me. “Valerie knew about the memory potion?”

“Are you telling me that it was real?” I run my fingers through my scalp to feel if I ever had a hole. "Uncle Felix sent me to an asylum?"

Esther “Don’t you dare say a word,” I say to Hilda. “If you say something, I’m going to break your bones.” Hilda’s eyes look as large as plates. She is unsuccessfully trying to bite back a smile. She nods and then laughs, sinking into the couch. Aiden knocks and then walks in when I say he can come in. “Hello again, princess,” Aiden says, almost too cheerfully. “I have your breakfast.” He places a silver tray with a glass filled with blood on the dressing table. I salivate at the sight of blood. The scent assaults my nostrils and burns my throat, but I decide to exercise control over my thirst. I ignore the glass of blood that I’ve been craving. “Where's Dominic?” I ask him. “Somewhere near the borders,” he shrugs. He doesn't look as guilty as he did when he walked out of the room. In fact, he looks a little cheerful. “I have been given clear instructions to bring it here myself and be fully responsible for your life.” “Okay, drink then,” I say to Aiden. “Me?” he makes a fa

Esther “Forget it, Esther.” “Why?” My voice is a little whiny, and I forget about my efforts to look sexy. “Because you don’t want me.” “But I just said I want you,” I protest. “You want us to fuck. You don’t want me.” “What do you want me to say, Dominic?” I sigh. “I want you to be all in.” “But that’s impossible.” “Because of your parents?” he asks. "Yes, because of my parents. I am already a traitor. We can take care of the baby, but at least show that we still respect the law that forbids our relationship.""So, why do you want us to fuck?" he raises a brow. "Uhm...""Being with me makes you ashamed, but you still want us to fuck behind closed doors. Wow!"“I have a family that I have to think of when I make such decisions. My decisions could affect them. This is not something I expect you to understand…” I press my lips together, regretting my last sentence. His jaw tightens. “I’m sorry,” I say to him. “It’s fine,” he says in a clipped voice. I sit on the couch, an

EstherFlashback (1665)TW: Gore“Are you okay, Esther?” Uncle Felix is standing in the open doorway of my bedroom. “No, Edmund told me he doesn’t want to be with me anymore. He said he’s a monster and he doesn’t deserve me. Did he say anything when you two went hiking? He looked different when he returned, and he seemed angry.”“I know I supported you two getting married, but I always knew that there was something wrong with him. I think it’s for the best. He doesn’t belong in our world anyway.”“I can’t believe he did this to me. I love him.” I blink back the tears. “I don’t know how to tell everyone, you all warned me.”“They don’t know yet?” he raises an eyebrow. I nod. “Good,” he smiles. “What?”“I mean, it’s best if you take your time. Perhaps Edmund might change his mind.”“I want him back,” I sigh. “But that doesn’t mean I should take him back. I don’t want to take a risk and find myself regretting it when he changes his mind again on our wedding day.”“I understand, pumpk

Esther “Do you have any ideas?” I grin. “Aiden is a good person, you know...” “Goodness, you are a good guy.” I roll my eyes. “I’m going to tell everyone who fears you that there’s nothing to fear.” “No one will believe you," his lips curl up. “You like bad guys? I can be one if you want me to be.” “Nope, but right now I would like you to think like a bad guy.” “You didn’t even let me finish talking," he sighs. “Okay, I’m listening.” He shakes his head, his lips twitching. “Aiden would feel bad if his plan didn’t work. I think we could torture him by acting like we are fighting.” “If we acted like being locked up together made things worse?” I beam. “Yep,” he grins mischievously. “I like that, or we could just shoot him.” “If that’s what you want, I wouldn’t mind doing it.” He shrugs, his face not showing any emotions.“We don’t make a bad team.” “I know,” he smiles. We sit in silence for a few minutes, listening to each other’s breathing and slow heartbeats. Although

Esther Dominic’s oud scent feels comforting. I close my eyes, inhaling the scent, and I let him carry me to wherever he wants to take me. “Put me down,” I say between my teeth when we get in the room, finally remembering that I need to keep a distance between us. He gently places me at the edge of the bed. I watch him pace back and forth, and then he runs a frustrated hand through his hair. “You hate me,” he stops and gazes at me. “I don’t hate you. I just...” I trail off. “I think I need to be alone.” “But first… I’ll get you something to drink.” He sighs. “I don’t know want or what you and the baby need.” “I’m okay.” “But in the hall you said...” he shakes his head. “You wanted an excuse to leave.” I nod. “Can you please leave?” His jaw tightens, but he nods and then walks out. Aiden knocks about five minutes later. “You betrayed me,” I playfully glare at him, my hand on the doorknob. “I didn’t betray you. I wanted you two to talk and work through your issues. I wasn’t p
