The Beginning of the End

Breathing heavily, a thick smile on her lips and her eyes wide anticipation, Tori drives her car home, unable to wait to share the news with her husband. They have always wanted this bundle of joy and here it is, on its way after five years of being married to one another.

“You are two months pregnant, Mrs. Wright.” The doctor had congratulated her just twenty minutes before.

She had gone for a test due to her cold and nausea, hoping to get some medicine prescribed but now, she is coming back home with a white slip of paper that explains her condition.

Just how much happy would he be to learn that coupled with getting inaugurated as the Pack Alpha in a couple of months, he would be fathering a child as well? Exhilarating.

He’d probably kiss her to death and the thoughts of what the future holds for them suddenly does not seem so bleak anymore. It is bright as the end of the tunnel.

She stops the car in front of the pack house and exits, choosing to meet her husband first before meeting with her parents to announce the news.

Down the hall, she completely manages to block out the greetings of all the people that pass by her, until a harsh pull at her arms brings her back to reality.

She is whisked around and she comes face to face with Wayne Wright.

She gets the insane urge to hiss and walk off, not letting him ruin her mood in this particular moment, but she holds it back. “What is it?”

“Tori, please listen to me. At this rate you are going in, you are heading for a major heartache.”

“Really? Mr. Knowledgeable, and how would you know that? Did you study the stars or something?” She retorts, snatching back her arms from his.

“Wade is my brother and I know that much. Help me to help you get out of his clutches. You have to trust me.”

“Look, Wyne, you probably have the best intentions but I am in no danger. He is my mate and my husband. Not many women get to marry their fated mates and still have a happy home with them. I have some good news to share with him right now but you are getting in my way.”

“If I told you what I knew, you will hate him and I want to spare you that. Sometimes, ignorance is better. That is why I am doing this.”

“I have tried to be rude, to be understanding, hell, I have even reported you but you are not backing down. Wayne wright, you have been doing this for a whole year now, trying to separate myself and my husband, stay the fuck away from us and stop chasing me, I can never be yours. And from me, I don’t need your damned help. Gosh.” Tori half yells frustratedly before leaving him standing there, staring at her back as she walks away.

Wayne facepalms, wondering what he has to do to make the woman see the truth, but she suddenly turns around and walks back to him, a faint hopeful smile appears on his face. “Did you…”

“I will not deny that there is something between me and you. There is this faint tug I feel whenever I see you and I don’t like it.”

Wayne frowns. “What do you mean? Whatever you feel, leave it as it is.” He looks panicky.

“No. I don’t want to. You irk me. I, Tori Garfield…”

“No… Don’t say it.” He has a look of fear on his face. Like he knows something she doesn’t, and its that exact feeling that makes her dislike him so much.

“…break off whatever bond I share with Wayne Wright.”

Wayne grunts and bends double. “It is not a major rejection anyway, so you will get over it. Sorry, but you made me do it.” Tori states as parting words.

Whatever truth he knows now does not concern her in any way.

And once again, she walks down the hall, skipping happily that she is pregnant and she has finally taken care of that creep.

For Tori, the current truth is that she is pregnant. She opens the door to her home and it is nothing like she had left behind. Following the streak of clothes, male and female alike, bile rises in her throat but she forces it back down, someone could be having an emergency in there. She suppresses all of the mixed emotions she is currently feeling, including the doubting mutters her wolf is whispering into her head.

She takes a long and heavy breath before pulling open the large wooden door leading to their room.

And there he was, stark naked, his rod right inside the clit of another woman.

“W…Wade?” She calls like a question, her insides are a turmoil, her wolf is angry, very angry but she is staying quite calm on the outside.

He turns around, sees it is her. “Oh, it’s you?” He does a few thrusts into the woman in front and their moans fill the air before he pulls out of her, a satisfied smile on his face. “How was the doctor’s appointment?”

“Do you think that is what I want to talk…” Her voice trails off as his mistress stretches into her full height and she swishes her long black hair across her shoulders, turning around and looking Tori right in the eyes.

“Hi big sister.”

“…” Tori makes a choking sound, struggling with words. “Elena, please tell me that was not you? Tat you are not the one?”

“I am the one. We just had a good fuck, expect you interrupted right before getting to the good part.”

The slip of paper in her hands slip down and lands at Wade’s feet. He picks it up and looks at it, a chuckle escaping his lips. “What? You are pregnant?”

Tori’s eyes are still fixated on Elena’s. “Why would you do this? The men willing to have you are all out there but it is my husband you prefer? What happened to your own mate? Thinking hell be getting married to the woman of his life in a little bit but here you are, wrecking my own marriage.”

“You are going to abort that pregnancy.”

Tori whips he head over to Wade. “What in the world are you saying? I should kill our child?”

Behind Wade, Elena reaches for a piece of leather glove and wears it over her hand. Subtly, she walks to the top of the mantel where there is something wrapped in thick clothes. Slowly, she reaches inside the cloth and uses the glove to pick up whet is wrapped in there…

“I never wanted to marry you. Imagine how fucking disappointed I was when I found out that you were my mate, not Elena. I wanted her from the start but just as you have interrupted us since you were fucking eight, you interrupted again. And I had no choice but to settle for less if I wanted the bigger price. Turns out the best fruit is the forbidden one, stolen and eaten. I love Elena, you might be my mate and ugh, wife, but I want Elena instead…”

Elena chuckles. “Which is why we got you a gift.” She snarls and her eyes glint. Before Tori can move a muscle, Elena lunges and stabs her in the stomach.

The pain is immense, immeasurable.

Tori screams in pain. Not because she got stabbed, not because it is a silver knife but because she felt her baby die. She places her hand on the knife, wanting to pull it out but it burns her hand, her screaming is even worse and louder. Elena reaches down with her gloved hand and harshly pulls the blood stained knife out of her stomach.

“My regards to the baby, at least you two will be together for life.” Elena smirks at Wade’s words.

“Tori…? Where are you?” A voice echoes from outside. Wade and Elene quickly exchange a look and goes to hide behind the door.

On the other hand, Tori feels her life ebbing away, knowing that there is no getting away from a silver knife, there is no help that can come that could possibly save her. There is no hope.

The door to the room opens and Wayne comes in. His eyes widen dangerously when he sees Tori’s state on the floor. “Who the fuck did this to you…?” He starts when suddenly, Elena sticks the knife into him from the back.

Wade half yells as the silver blade suddenly fades into nothing. “Why the fuck will you stab my brother?!”

“He was going to snitch on us no matter what.” Elena defends herself.

Struggling as blood pours out of him, Wayne slides over to Tori, whose eyes are wide open, staring into his.

“I am sorry…” She manages, sputtering blood out of her mouth. With the last of her breath, Tori turns to face upwards and feeling her consciousness going away, Wayne hooks his hands with hers, hugging her.

“Moon Goddess, is this how this story is really going to end? Please…”

Black.

Tori Garfield passes away, and soon after, Wayne Wright does too.
