Crystal's POV

The moment Adrian stepped into the room, my breath caught in my throat. Relief washed over me like a sudden wave, loosening the invisible rope that had been tightening around my chest. But just as quickly, concern crept in, swallowing that fleeting comfort.

Adrian’s presence had always been an unpredictable thing. Plus I didn't tell him or take his permission to check Sylvia's room. And I had lied with is name.

His voice rang out, cold and sharp, making the guards freeze before dragging me away.

“If any of you dare lay a finger on my mate... I will make sure your heads never see another second”

"Forgive us, Alpha" the guards bowed and ran out, closing the door behind them.

Talia scoffed.

That heat in my stomach. I hated that I felt it. The way his words sent an unfamiliar warmth through me, as if I mattered, as if I was more than just a pawn.

But I shoved it down instantly. Adrian had a way of offering comfort with one hand and crushing it with the other. I wouldn’t let

Adrian's POVI sat on my armchair at the corner of my room. I had the lights turned off and the curtains drawn. The room was quiet, dark and mysterious. Just how I liked it. Just how I wanted her to find it. I was supposed to meet her here when I came. And right now, she was nowhere!I had asked her to come to me. No, not asked… I had told her to come. And yet, one hour had passed and she still wasn’t in my chambers. The longer the silence stretched, the more the longing in my chest turned to a simmering boil. Crystal had a talent for getting under my skin…whether she meant to or not. And I still had no idea how she managed to do it.“You testy butterfly…” I muttered and poured another glass of the red wine I had been sipping. I lifted the glass and looked at the wine inside it. Red, just like the color I dreaded to see from her. I sipped it in one gulp and placed down the glass.I was getting impatient. Kratos was getting impatient as well.Part of me had known she would hesitate. Sh

  • TAMING THE RUTHLESS ALPHA   Chapter 62 - Don't Worry You're Safe

Crystal's POVThe moment Adrian stepped out of Sylvia’s chambers, the air in the room suddenly felt unusually heavy, as though it carried the weight of everything I’d endured since coming here. My feet moved slowly and aimlessly, as my mind was in chaos.Adrian’s chambers..?Just the thought of that place sent a shiver down my spine. I remembered vividly...The coldness in his voice, the heat in his eyes, the way he had touched me and awakened something in me, only to throw me aside as if I were nothing more than a plaything. My cheeks burned at the memory, not with desire but with shame. The humiliation had stayed with me like a scar carved into my heart. And yet… his words echoed again.“Your room door has been damaged, Crystal”“It’s hardly fit for… private moments”At the time, I had thought it was a wicked bluff, another way to bend me to his will. But the faint flicker of honesty in his tone. Now, that had unsettled me.I paused, pressing a hand to my chest. My heart was beating

  • TAMING THE RUTHLESS ALPHA   Chapter 61 - Maddox's Thoughts

Adrian's POVThe moment I stepped out of Sylvia’s chambers, I felt the weight of the box in my hand like it was more than just wood. I was skeptical of the contents I saw inside. They were like an unanswered question, a puzzle and a curse. I closed it with a soft snap, staring down at the worn edges.Sylvia.I knew her. I had known her since childhood. Her laughter, her pranks and her endless attempts to place herself into my orbit. But this? This was different. She was mischievous, yes, sometimes even reckless, but deceitful? Manipulative on such a grand scale? That wasn’t the Sylvia I remembered.Or was it?I clenched my jaw, my mind pulling back to Crystal’s words. She had sounded so certain and so sharp, when she told me Sylvia was plotting something. A part of me had dismissed it immediately. I knew Crystal was emotional, passionate and prone to instinct rather than reason. But then… hadn’t she been right before?I thought of showing the box to my mother. Talia would know. She al

  • TAMING THE RUTHLESS ALPHA   Chapter 60 - Over My Dead Body

Crystal's POVI didn’t even have time to breathe before Talia turned back, her silk gown gliding against the polished floor as she turned on her heel. Her face was sharp. Her posture was an all icy poise, but there was something venomous in her stare that made the air sting like frostbite.“What,” she demanded, her voice slicing through the silence like a dagger, “did you just say to me, Adrian?”For a moment, I thought Adrian might not answer. He didn’t even look at her; his gaze was locked somewhere else.Actually, not somewhere else. His eyes were fixed in space as if he were watching a scene only he could see. His silence was unsettling, almost suffocating. It felt as though even the walls of the room held their breath waiting for him to speak. Then, low and steady, Adrian repeated himself without blinking or moving his gaze.“I told you to apologise, Mother”Apologise. My heart skipped at the audacity of it. A part of me wanted to smile.Adrian, for all his cruelty and ruthlessne

  • TAMING THE RUTHLESS ALPHA   Chapter 58 - Driving Me Crazy

Adrian's POVI shot Lyra with a glare sharp enough to cut through stone. My voice was grave, low and edged with violence.“Where is she?”Her lips trembled. Her voice was a low and indiscernible murmur, drowned in the storm of my fury. I couldn’t even make out the words she was saying.I moved closer, each step deliberate and predatory until I loomed over her trembling figure. My eyes narrowed.“Don’t test me, Lyra. I won’t repeat myself again" I threatened, the warning evident in my tone. I was already getting very pissed. Her body shook harder, and finally her words came out, torn between sobs. She stuttered. “I...I don’t know where she went… she... she only told me to wait here for her. She didn’t say anything else...”The silence that followed was deafening. My jaw clenched so hard I thought it might snap. I could feel the hot burn of rage building inside me, stretching tighter and tighter. My chest heaved, and when I spoke again, my voice thundered like a tempest breaking through
