Chapter 1: The Servant Son-in-law
Blake WalkerThe bright light hit my eyes. I was awake already but I was used to his rusty hinge voice yelling which came seconds after the powerful rays from his torch. So I waited for it. Counting in my head with my eyes shut from five...four...three...two...one."Get up you moron who will milk the cows?" There it was. My annoying alarm clock. I sprung out of bed hoping he was not carrying a bucket full of freezing cold water again. The last time I kept him waiting, believe me it was a couple seconds after the bright light, he poured ice cold water on me. I had to pick ice cubes from my squeaky metallic bed with a mattress thin as rail and mop the entire potholed floor of my crib the size of a pig pen."Good morning sir" I said bowing in respect, my arms behind my back."There is nothing good about this morning, get out!" He shouted showing me the way.I grabbed my cowboy hut and coat. The milking bucket and a spotlight were hanging on the Wall at the entrance where I also slid int

Chapter 2: Delusional Love Triangle
BlakeApart from Gerald’s yelling and reminder who was boss, I was also used to physical abuse. Mrs. Wallace's slaps but that morning it was the hardest she had ever slapped me. If I was keeping count correctly, it was her tenth slap on my right cheek since we met. I can't count how many times she sent a shoe flying at me or sometimes anything she was holding in her hands. She once threw a knife at me because I was staring at her lustfully. Well, she was right but it was not intentional, I thought she was Tessa whenever they decided to dress like teenagers it was hard to tell them apart without looking them in the face. But I blame the make-up.From the Manor I went back to my crib. There were only two things I could be doing at any time, if not working it was reading. That morning while trying to wash off the emotional damage caused by the feminine slap I grabbed a copy of my favorite novel. As much as I thought I was used to her slaps every time she did slap me and all the Wallace's

Chapter 3: Fired Guardian Angel
BlakeUntil the butler came to fetch me to help around in the compound I had no idea that Anita got fired moments after suffering a physical assault from Tessa. It was so sad that I was the reason she lost her job and there was nothing I could do to help her. Now every female worker was avoiding me like a plague. The weakness combined with anger that I felt in the matter was threatening to freeze my brain. There was no Wallace I could give my version of the story to. Even if I did there was a snowballs chance in hell it would have helped to overturn their decision. During the precious lunch break I decided to find Tessa, with her I stood a chance."You don't want rage from any of them right now" the butler said walking around the kitchen."Just tell her I want to talk she will understand, Tessa"He stopped to look at me. The butler was among the few nice people in the entire compound. I didn't know his name, we all referred to him as the butler and he always responded."They all are s

Chapter 4: Collateral damage
The butlerWhile going to Blake's crib I stumbled into the Boss angrily marching from the same direction. As the family butler I enjoyed some freedom around him thanks to our relationship that was almost brotherly that meant I was allowed to ask him questions, give my opinion and unsolicited advice sometimes. All of it because I was his eyes when he was not watching, his brain when he was not thinking and his ears when he was not listening. Running the family business and his estate was too much for him to handle alone. It wouldn't have been if Gabriel was not a crackpot and if he gave Blake a chance."Boss...""Piss off Clive am not in the mood" he said going past me.And yeah, he was the only one who called me by name. Occasionally when he was angry and we were alone. Blake met me halfway."You have the address?" He asked looking and sounding relaxed."Yes, what was that? Why was the boss...?”"It was nothing, please can I have her address?""I

Chapter 5: An oasis in a Desert
BlakeAs I ran back to the car I adjusted my collar and put on a smile hoping it was going to cover up the make-up of slaps that Mrs. Baker had just applied on my face. The butler was leaning on the car scrolling on his phone like a teenager. He raised his gaze when he saw me coming."That was fast" He said going round the car to the driver's side."You blared the horn I had to cut short the entire apology""That was me checking on you but anyway we need to get going, we have one final stop to make before we go to the agrovet" "Okay" I mumbled strapping in my seatbelt. The entire drive to the local shopping center was silent. The butler was busy on road overtaking and clicking his tongue whenever a random driver made a silly mistake. He would also use his hand to direct traffic. The fresh air brushing past my face and that overwhelming feeling of a heavy Burden on my heart being lifted, the country music from the car all of it were making it fun. At heart I

Chapter 6: Found A Gem
BlakeThe time I spend with the butler was worth the reprimand and a hurl of abuses that were waiting for us both. Surprisingly they came from Tessa. She reminded both of us who was paying our salaries, whose food we were eating and whose car we were enjoying. If we paid for oxygen she would have switched it off just to prove her point. Thank God it was and still is free. After a boring supper with the employees in the common room, which I took all alone since none of them wanted to share a table with me, I bade them good night-a few mumbled back the rest just glared at me as I walked out. On my way to my crib my phone beeped. Took one look at it and I smiled. A: Thank you for the money, I really pray that you get where you want to be. After in depth thinking I have identified a market gap and decided to open a grocery store. Thank you and good nightRegards, AnitaI found myself smiling. That was before I hit hard on the access gate coulomb, ev

Chapter 7: Master of illusion
BlakeAfter three climaxes for both of us as a result of sweaty untamed sex I sneaked out of Tessa's room. She was sound asleep when I left and from that moment I couldn't catch any sleep. I just lay on my bed feeling relaxed using my hands like a pillow as I waited for my alarm clock which was an hour away. There was a chance I was stunned from what had just happened, it had taken three months of dry spell and passing by a strip club to get me laid. Maybe I shouldn't have done that. I kept thinking, how I was going to satisfy my renewed libido. My life of celibacy had been boring but at least I was not horny all the time. Knowing Tessa so well, perhaps more than most of his family members, she was going to be very adamant to catch up with my demands. Tessa did most of the things on her own accord. When I checked on my clock again it was half an hour to my usual wake up time. There was a chance Gerald was not going to ruin my happiness that chilly morning only if I was

Chapter 8: Wrong About Everything
Tessa You remember when I said sex might have rekindled something that I thought was buried in the core of the earth? Maybe it hadn't he had just put his filthy hands on my father. That was unforgivable. That one I could tell he was guilty even before dad gave us the story. He was violent even though he had never laid his hands on me, Blake was a former street kid, synonymous with all kinds of violence and drug abuse. Something’s didn't just change and go away no matter how much we try to believe people, if they did it once they can do it again. That morning it occurred to me that I was wrong about everything.Wrong about buying a blender from his shop, about using it recklessly and going back in there again. I was totally wrong agreeing to go on that stupid date with him in his office and letting my heart decide for me. "What happened dad?" Mum was helping me take him upstairs. After that punch he needed rest and some first aid."It's nothing""What do you mea

Chapter 9: Beautiful Pain
TessaDespite The butler and my mum's warning I had set my mind on sneaking into Blake's crib to see him and make my disappointment clear. Before I went to the shower I checked on my dad in their room where he was seated with a newspaper at hand."How are you feeling dad?""Am doing great doctor" he teased, gave a hasty look at me and went back to reading, "Am fine kiddo if that's what you're here to ask""I can see that, am actually here to apologize" I said shyly playing with my fingers, the tone was also the right one. Apologetic.Dad realized I was setting the mood for opening up. He kept his newspaper away and gave me his full attention. "About what kiddo?" "I brought Blake in this house, what happened today and every awful things he has done are all my fault. But I want you to know dad, it's not easy to let him go" I paused and exhaled sharply. He was keen and attentive no interruption. His eyes were just fixed on me."My love for him is s

Chapter 10: Burying the hatchet
Bailey WallaceMy daughter Tessa. She never ceased to amaze me. Sometimes she made me wonder if she was really mine or I was drugged and forced to carry a surrogate for some other couple and they bailed on me. Gabriel was better off. Yes he drunk himself to confusion but my son would never let anything harm his family. I missed him."Where is she?" I asked."She was just here a few minutes ago" the butler said looking around as though she was probably hiding in the flowers."Find her, search Blake's room she must be there!" The butler"Okay mum""Don't okay me find her butler what do we pay you for if you can't keep an eye on my daughter?'That was rhetorical. I ran towards Blake's crib hoping Tessa was not there or else it would have been catastrophic for me. She wouldn't have hesitated to tell Blake about my earlier support of Bailey’s offence although I was compelled to say it. Upon getting there, said a little prayer and opened the door. She
