Lucien's POV
We have gotten wind that there is a prisoner within the Lycan castle, and as the Moon Council, it is only right that we are kept up to track with what is happening within the pack. I artificially kept my lips in a smile that did not reach my eyes, then, I folded my fingers in front of each other, laying them out on the table that stretched from one end to the other in the grand room.
This room was used for my meetings and those of my brothers with the Moon Council. Most of their members were middle-aged and older, which gave them the misconception that they had wisdom to give. Well, some years had just been spent gathering audacity, the type of audacity that made them comfortable waltzing into our castle and making demands like this. In the past, the Moon Council knew their place and wouldn't dare do this. Unfortunately, because of the war that was dragging on and against our favor, we've had to make some sacrifices for the sake of our pack members. Resources flowing from the Moon Council's pocket made them a production force. I think it's about time I clipped their wings before they reached out too high towards the sun.
"First of all, good evening to all of you," I said. "I see you were all in such a haste to find out this information, for the sake of the pack, of course, that you were not troubled with what time you had to get that information, and if my brothers and I would be resting."
There was a stillness at the table as if everyone had been frozen. I'm sure they could feel my Alpha aura permeating the air. If they had been any lesser wolves, their heads would have naturally bowed, but fortunately for them, they were the highest-ranking wolves of the Lycan Kingdom. That was one of the major qualifications for joining the council. However, because of their obvious lack of tact, I was beginning to suspect that might be one of the only qualifications.
"Alpha Lucien, please understand that we mean no disrespect," the council head replied. "Just as you have a front, we are only here for the purpose of protecting the pack. That is our foremost interest, and from what we have seen recently, the Royal body needs as much support as it can get, which is what we are trying to give."
His words seemed respectful on the surface, but right underneath them, I could smell the condescending message hidden between the words. He was practically saying that the Council now found me and my brothers so inept that they had the right to poke their noses in where they didn't belong.
"Many of you might not understand this," I said, my fingers pressing tighter together, "but assistance can become overbearing when it is given without discretion."
I stood up, controlling my strength so that I would not end up breaking the chair as I gripped it. "This meeting will be rescheduled, and both of my brothers will be in attendance, of course, at a more proper time. I'm sure nobody disagrees with that, right?"
Murmurs swept through the table. Most of them had probably hoped that this ambush would go a lot more smoothly, and now I was dismissing them. While I would overlook their meaningless muttering, none of them had the guts to speak up directly to me.
The council head, who had been speaking directly to me, cleared his throat. "All right then, Alpha Lucien. We will leave now, but I think we should at least know when we are going to have our next meeting. As you know, time is of the essence and we're running short."
I bit the inside of my jaw. I had to give the old man credit, he was pressuring me and yet framing it in such a way that I could not just wave off his words without thought.
"Then we will have this meeting again in two days." This time, I intentionally didn't ask if there was going to be any issue with that and just wrapped up the meeting. I waited until every single member of the Moon Council was gone before I buried my face into my palms and released a long, loud sigh.
In my very first life, they would have not dared to speak to me like this. Our victories had completely made them submissive, but now we were back in a new life with new events that didn't make sense.
Why was the Viper, who was so viciously loyal to Voss’s pack, suddenly so eager to be on our side? It was an advantage, a dangerously lucky advantage, but she was like a rose, appealing, but you had to remind yourself that it had thorns. Ending her would be smarter, but if she was really honest...
I got up and went to the dungeons, the remains of my headache beginning to fade away as I thought about seeing her. There was something about the small spills of scent that calmed the perpetual storm in me. To think I would be calming myself with the same woman that had ruined us in a previous life.
I came into the dungeon expecting that there would be no more surprises, and then I was hit with the biggest one ever. It was like a gut punch, and when I felt it, I had to steady myself so that I was not slumped on the floor in the most un-Alpha fashion. Her scent was no longer hidden by the cloakers, and it came out with the intensity of a dam breaking. The threads of fate formed, and I knew, before any voice vocalized it, what was going on.
As I allowed my eyes to drift from one brother to the other, I could see it, the same paralyzing realization eating all of us at the same time. And then, finally, my eyes dropped on her.
And there was a smile on her face.
Chapter 17Vivian’s POVI could break out of this cell if I wanted to.But patience, they say, is a virtue or in my case, the only cushion against slow, deliberate torture. Ever since the night the Lycan princes found out that I was their fated mate, I hadn’t seen them. The days had strolled by, from what I recorded based on the meager meals being served, it had been at least three nights since then, and so far, I’ve heard nothing on their end.But I knew they would come. My wolf, I can’t believe I have one now, calls out to theirs with a yearning that makes distance impossible. At least, not for long.I curled my fingers on the bare mattress, then released them along with the tension. The dungeon had the most basic of amenities, but it’s not as if I was given any special treatment in Voss that would have made it easier for me to adjust to this place.Still, I wish one of them would show up. At least somebody would remember to bring my food. The best thing I’ve eaten in the past three
Chapter 16Jacob’s POV"It can't be!" Gab growled, massaging a balled-up fist with fingers that shook to the wave of his fury. "I would have been fine with any woman, but her?! What is the Moon Goddess thinking?! Why her?!"He had that look—like he wanted to punch something, or someone. Instead, he turned to the aged moonlight wine and poured himself a long swig before throwing his shoulders back and staring at the fireplace like it owed him answers to his dilemma.Lucien, as usual, took a more calm approach, even when the ground beneath our feet was being slid right off. But you could tell that he was troubled in his own way. His brows were heavily knitted with thought, his legs crossed to cosplay relaxation while he swirled a glass of wine without drinking any of it. It was funny, since he was the one always badgering Gabriel and me out of stronger drinks laced with the right amount to make a nice kick instead of plunging us into a permanent slumber.I wasn't drinking, according to

Chapter 14Jacob's POV"Jacob, you're awake!" Gab said, and despite the usual deep grit in his voice, you could hear the relief under those several layers. He seemed to forget about the Viper completely and came to me. He grabbed my arm and inspected me from head to toe. "You are awake," he said again. This time it had a little less relief and more realization. Then he said it one more time and his grip on my arm fastened stronger. "Why do you always have to be so stubborn? I told you that you are not supposed to go to the werewolf territory, and yet you still ignored orders and went ahead to do what you wanted to. How are we going to lead our people if this is how you act out every time?"I sighed deeply. As much as I would have loved to be scolded in front of one of our greatest nemesis and a regular guard, that would just have to wait for another time, but not now. "I'll explain everything later, Gab, but now..."I snatched the keys away from him and rushed over, using my Lycan spe
Chapter 13Vivian's POVBoth Lucien and Jacob had been angry when they saw me, but none of it could compare to the look that their brother was giving to me right now. It was something that was so saturated in pure hatred that logic had no place within it. There was no way I could reason with him. I had been in the battlefield long enough through the bloodshed that I could recognize it from a mile away, and it was painted across his eyes so familiarly. I would have to be a fool to miss it or be completely blind."Didn't you hear me?" he roared at the guard behind him, who had begun to tremble with his fingers nervously."Prince Gabriel, I can't give you the keys."I could see all of the veins popping from the side of his head as he turned. "What do you mean you can't give me the keys? That is an order!""But Prince Lucien said that…"He marched over to the guard. "You know I don't like to repeat myself, so it's either you find the keys for me or face the consequences when I'll have to
Chapter 12Gabriel's POV"When Jacob finally survives this, I'm going to kill him," I said with a bitter growl. Staring at his unconscious form dripping with sweat and pain, the last healer had stepped out of the room, stating that they had done all they could and his body's natural healing system was supposed to kick in. If only they knew that we had taken instructions from a werewolf and that of what we were banking to truly heal our brother, the Royal bloodline would never recover from the humiliation."Go easy on him," Lucien said, sitting cross-legged facing the youngest of us three. "He’s still growing, still learning. We can't expect him to make the best decisions all the time, can we?""We're barely that far apart in age," I reminded him. "...And both of us were at his age once. Neither of us were so irresponsible and dumb.""That's because we didn't have anyone to support us if we were either of those things, but Jacob has it. Shouldn't we take that as a golden lining?"I s
Chapter 6Jacob's pov Dammit, my brothers are going to kill me.That is…if I don't die right now perhaps.I pushed my bodyweight against the rickety door, buying time. For what? I'm not quite sure."Just let me help you," the viper said, her voice a desperate whisper shout, I laid my eyes on her t
Chapter 5 Vivian's POVAll it took was a 5-minute conversation for them to decide they didn't want me anymore. I was disgusted but not surprised. 5 minutes against all the years I had given them, all the care, love and devotion. I pitifully remembered myself in my previous life, fighting tooth a
Chapter 4Draven's pov This can't be real. Is she messing with us? Her lips rolled into a smile yet it was disconnected from her eyes that were icy enough to send chills down my spine.I released her, but didn't back away."Is this because of your room? Are you throwing a tantrum just for that?"
Chapter 3Vivian's POV "Augh!" I gasped sitting up in a bolt causing a wave of water to splash around. My head throbbed like it was about to split into two, with a quick spin of my eyes I looked around and saw my personal bathroom and my jaw dropped. Just a few moments ago, I had been in the 'ho
