EVELYN’S POV

I looked at her with a look of pure disgust.

“You tried to kill me, and you think you can get away with it?” I raised an eyebrow.

Her eyes flickered with panic as she stared at her mother for help.

“What are you talking about, Rosie? Ivy is your sister. You shouldn't say such things just because you're mad,” her mother said. Even though she was trying to sound like a loving parent, I could see right through her facade. It disgusted me.

“Oh, stop with the pretense. It's starting to bore me,” I spoke nonchalantly.

I turned my attention to setting up my new cellphone, but a message popped up on the screen that made me frown.

“You don't talk to your mother like that!” the woman screeched.

“You're not my mother! Get the hell out of my face!” I barked angrily.

My voice was laced with a killing intent they had never heard before. They flinched backward in fear, realizing for the first time that the docile Rosetta was gone. Terrified, they rushed out of the room, leaving me all alone.

I took a deep breath to calm my racing heart before focusing on the message.

[Get ready by six. My driver will pick you up.]

I didn't need a name to know who sent it. That arrogant Tyrant.

I shook my head and decided not to dwell on it. I tried to search Rosetta’s memories for something useful, but first, I needed to wash the stench of this hospital and this family off me.

I went straight to the bathroom. I had to admit, I was impressed by how magnificent it was. It seemed like Rosetta took exclusive care of her skin, hence the natural glow. I prepared a bath and peeled off my clothes, soaking in the tub while letting the reality of my situation sink in.

I knew I was currently no match for the Organization in this weak body. But with the help of someone powerful enough, I could have my revenge.

The face of that arrogant man popped up in my head.

Williams Carter. A business tycoon who held the keys to the city. He was the most powerful businessman in the whole of Asia, with his hands in everything—legal and illegal.

But my ego meant everything to me. I wasn't about to beg him for help.

A few hours later, that arrogant man had someone deliver a box to my room.

“This is your chance to make up with him, okay? I know you feel wronged, but trust me, Honey, it's for the best.”

I looked at Mr. Glenn, the man who was supposed to be Rosetta's father, and shook my head in pity. He was supposed to protect his daughter no matter what. Unfortunately, he was a spineless coward willing to sell his daughter to save his own skin.

“So much for being a loving father,” I said, rolling my eyes.

He frowned deeply. “I don't know what's gotten into you or why you're suddenly being a jerk to everyone. Don't you dare ruin things for me. You know how much this merger means for the company.”

I felt sorry for Rosetta for being born into such a horrible family.

“Understood,” I muttered. As much as I hated taking orders, I knew I had to be on my best behavior to get out of this house.

“That's better... you should look pretty for him, okay?” He smiled softly, his eyes fake-softening as he tapped my shoulder before walking away.

Once he was gone, I opened the box Williams had sent. My lips curled upward.

Inside was a black bodycon dress embedded with tiny gems that caught the light like stars. It was paired with silver stiletto heels, a diamond necklace, and a silver clutch to compliment the stunning fabric.

He indeed had taste.

I picked up the dress and carefully changed into it. I tied my hair up in a messy bun, letting a few strands fall against my face to frame it. Back in my old life, I often wore fancy dresses to infiltrate gatherings of the rich, so this was easy-peasy.

I sat in front of the vanity mirror and applied provocative makeup, finishing with bold red lipstick.

I was going to get back at him with this.

We all know what provocative makeup does to men who can't control themselves. I glanced at my reflection once again and smiled in satisfaction.

Shortly after, a knock landed on my door, announcing the arrival of his driver. I picked up my clutch and stepped out of the room.

As I headed for the stairs, I saw Ivy standing in the hallway. She looked furious. I flashed her a smile of ridicule, which made her fume and storm off immediately.

My eyes fell on someone standing at the bottom of the stairs.

He was clad in a white tuxedo and a black bow tie. His eyes were fixated on my body, and the intensity of his gaze made me feel uneasy. I slowly made my way down the stairs.

His lips curled upward in an arrogant smirk as he stretched forth his hand. I placed mine in his, letting him help me down the last few steps, but I wasn't buying his gentleman act.

He was obviously putting on a show for the servants.

“Shall we?” he asked.

I forced a smile as he led me out of the mansion toward the Maybach waiting right outside. His driver held the door open; Williams stepped inside first, and I followed suit.

The moment the door shut, his demeanor changed instantly. He moved away from me as if I were some kind of bacteria. He even took out a handkerchief to wipe the hand that had touched mine.

The nerve of that man!

I took a deep breath, trying not to snap his neck. I had my eyes on a bigger goal—the Silver Mask—so I wasn't going to let him get on my nerves, no matter how hard he tried.

“Disgusting,” I muttered, just loud enough for him to hear.

He scoffed. “My business partner is hosting a party, and I'm sure you know what that means. It would be wise if you were on your best behavior.”

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

I could feel his eyes on me the whole time, but I pretended not to care as I leaned against the window, putting as much distance between us as possible.

The ride to the hotel where the event was being held took longer than expected. To my surprise, there were paparazzi and cameras swarming the entrance.

I became nervous. I tried to keep a calm expression, but deep down, I hated cameras. Assassins didn't do well with publicity.

“What's wrong? Can't keep up?” His voice was laced with mockery as the car pulled up to the red carpet. The flashbulbs were blinding.

“You wish,” I scolded.

He chuckled coldly before stepping out of the car. The cameras began clicking furiously. To their surprise, he stretched forth his hand again. I placed mine in his, and the crowd went wild, curious to see the woman the terrifying Williams Carter was with.

He helped me out of the car, and I managed to compose myself as the lights flashed right in my eyes.

He wrapped his arm around my waist securely, pulling me flush against his side as he led me toward the entrance with a lopsided smile on his face.

“Smile, fool. You look like a brick,” he whispered into my ear. From the outside, it looked like a romantic whisper between lovers.

“F*ck off,” I said between clenched teeth, forcing a dazzling smile.

He led me through a hall filled with influential businessmen, socialites, and conglomerate heads. They all turned in our direction with looks of surprise plastered on their faces. I could feel their intense stares on me.

His hold on my waist tightened possessively as we approached a group of businessmen standing by a table, holding their drinks and chit-chatting.

“Hello, Mr. Carter! I didn't think you would make it,” a bald man spoke with a bright smile, extending his hand.

“Nice party you've got going,” Mr. Grumpy complimented him dryly.

Just as expected, Williams ignored the handshake, but surprisingly, they weren't offended by it. They were used to his tyranny.

“Nice to meet you all,” he spoke formally, accepting a glass of champagne from a waiter before handing one to me.

I could feel their eyes analyzing me, but I acted nonchalant as I quietly sipped my drink.

“And who is the pretty damsel beside you that has got everyone talking, Mr. Carter?” the bald man asked, trailing his eyes all over my body in a way that made me want to gouge his eyes out.

Williams pulled me closer.

“She is...”

EVELYNE'S POV I just have to keep playing along with him until I've got solid evidence that he is actually connected to the Organization, I thought to myself as I stared down at the garden right behind the hospital. I stroked my temple as I felt a migraine coming on. There was no doubt my soul was having a hard time getting used to Rosetta's weak frame; hence, the sudden blackout. “You're slacking off, Eve,” I mumbled while I tried to analyze everything I remembered from that day. That man was obviously someone who knew Williams. No one had access to the VIP lounge; only people who were authorized to come see the man of the hour. “I wonder what secret you're hiding.” A strange glint flashed through my eyes, too quickly for anyone to notice, as I came up with a plan. I turned around, went back to my bed, and carefully picked up Mia's laptop. I just needed to know the keys she'd clicked on. To find out, I raised it closer and carefully stared at the keyboard for prints

WILLIAMS' POV “She's taking too long.” I frowned upon realizing that it had been a couple of minutes since she left for the bathroom. “I'll check it out,” Connor said as he headed for the door, and I was left alone. The auction was about to start, and they were only allowed to bid through an app called ‘The Watcher,’ an app I personally designed. “Everything is in place, Boss. Waiting for your orders,” a voice spoke through the earbuds. “You can...” My words were cut off when Connor hurried back to the lounge. “There's been a situation in the bathroom,” he explained. From his eyes, I knew things had gone wrong, so I stood up and headed out of the lounge. I went straight to the bathroom and found her lying lifeless on the cold floor. “Seal off every entrance of the building right now!” I announced as I gently placed my fingers on her neck to feel her pulse before picking her off the floor, carefully carrying her bridal-style. “Make sure no one breathes a word about

EVELYN’S POV “She is my fiancée, Miss Glenn,” he introduced courtly. The bald man looked at him with a surprised expression before glancing over at me with a bright smile. I reciprocated, flashing a charming grin, and I could feel Williams' arm tighten around my waist, his grip bordering on painful. “Nice to meet you, beautiful Miss Glenn.” Alan stretched out his hand for a handshake. Before I could lift my hand, Williams intercepted. He grabbed Alan’s hand in a crushing grip, embarrassing the man instantly. I resisted the urge to laugh at the display of territorial dominance. I took a sip from my glass of red wine, staring coquettishly at the bald man over the rim. Alan smiled nervously, clearly sensing the danger radiating from my "fiancé." “Nice to meet you too, Mr...?” “Alan. Call me Alan,” he responded immediately. I nodded with a polite smile. “Would you excuse us for a moment?” Williams spoke. His voice was calm, but it was laced with a cold, underlying ange

I had only known him for a few minutes, and he was already driving me crazy.“I'm quite sure you haven't gone deaf,” he muttered without sparing me a glance.“Just who the hell do you think you are?” I felt like punching him in the face.“You wanted to marry me badly, remember?” He scoffed nonchalantly.I felt my anger rising rapidly. I took deep breaths to calm down.“Well, I'm not interested in getting married to a stupid narcissist,” I said bluntly. His hands seemed to freeze mid-air over his tablet. I could feel the coldness emanating from his body, and for the first time ever, I felt intimidated.“Stop the car,” he commanded. The car came to a halt immediately. He finally raised his head to look at me.“Get out,” he spoke calmly.I didn't move an inch. “Are you asking me to get out of your car?” I asked, wanting to be sure I heard right.“Get out!” he barked.I flinched backward and immediately got out of the car.“I'm sur

EVELYN’S POVIt had been a few days since I transmigrated into this new body, and I was slowly getting the hang of things.I had been discharged from the hospital, but I couldn't stop thinking about the man who was supposed to be my fiance and why he had yet to pay his "wife" a visit since I woke up.“Good news, Young Miss. You're getting discharged today,” the doctor informed me.I nodded without sparing him a glance.“I see,” I mumbled, rubbing my chin while staring at the laptop screen with a frown.“You should get ready, too,” the doctor added, hoping to get a reaction from me.“I'm busy,” I muttered, eyes glued to the screen. He had to leave in embarrassment.I was trying to hack into the Organization's database, but it was being protected by a top-tier firewall called Lockwell. I was caught off guard and barely managed to pull out before they traced my location.“I'm coming for you,” I scoffed before turning off the laptop.I got off the bed to get changed before my so-called fa
