WILLIAMS' POV

“She's taking too long.” I frowned upon realizing that it had been a couple of minutes since she left for the bathroom.

“I'll check it out,” Connor said as he headed for the door, and I was left alone.

The auction was about to start, and they were only allowed to bid through an app called ‘The Watcher,’ an app I personally designed.

“Everything is in place, Boss. Waiting for your orders,” a voice spoke through the earbuds.

“You can...” My words were cut off when Connor hurried back to the lounge.

“There's been a situation in the bathroom,” he explained. From his eyes, I knew things had gone wrong, so I stood up and headed out of the lounge.

I went straight to the bathroom and found her lying lifeless on the cold floor.

“Seal off every entrance of the building right now!” I announced as I gently placed my fingers on her neck to feel her pulse before picking her off the floor, carefully carrying her bridal-style.

“Make sure no one breathes a word about this,” I sternly warned before heading towards the exit.

I headed for the underground parking lot where my driver was waiting. He immediately opened the door while I got in with her in my arms.

“Drive,” I muttered coldly. He immediately stepped on the gas and drove off as fast as he could.

I glanced down at the unconscious woman in my arms, wondering what had happened in the bathroom and why she’d suddenly passed out.

“What happened to you?” I mumbled inaudibly as I gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

She seemed different, unlike the fragile and stupid lady I remembered.

There was no doubt something was definitely fishy, and I was going to find out why she had suddenly changed.

The car pulled up at the family hospital, and I got out while carrying her in my arms, heading for the lobby.

A few nurses rushed in my direction and took her away immediately while I followed them to the emergency ward.

I took out my cell phone and placed it against my ear.

“The auction can start without me; I need to take care of something,” I instructed before hanging up. Shortly after, she was moved to a VVIP ward, and Connor arrived at the hospital.

“Dig into this. I want my hands on everything you can find on her. Be discreet about it,” I instructed as I got ready to leave.

“What about the young miss?” Connor asked, seeing as I was about to leave.

“Inform the Glenn family about it,” I simply said before walking away.

It was too much of a hassle, and I didn't want to be part of any of that. I got into the Rolls-Royce Phantom waiting right outside.

EVELYNE'S POV

A beeping noise made me frown in frustration as I fluttered my eyes open.

“What the hell happened?” I mumbled as I looked around the place and moved to a sitting position.

I was really thirsty at the moment and needed a glass of water.

How did I end up in a hospital room again?

The last thing I remembered was being at the event with Mr. Grumpy, and the next thing I knew, I was right here at the hospital.

“You're finally awake.”

I flinched when I heard a familiar voice because I’d initially thought I was alone.

“Didn't your mother teach you not to sneak up on people like that?” I resisted the urge to roll my eyes as I got out of bed. I made my way to a jar of water on the coffee table, poured some into a glass, and gulped down the entire contents. Only then did I feel better.

I stood there with my back against him, and of course, I could sense him getting closer.

He placed his hand on my shoulder. I instinctively grabbed his hand and took it off my shoulder, completely unaware of his next move. He grabbed hold of my neck and shoved me against the wall aggressively, but I kept a straight face as I'd gone through worse.

“Killing you should be a piece of cake, you know?” His ocean-blue eyes deepened as he stared into mine, but I didn't flinch.

“You can't kill me; we both need each other,” I calmly spoke, even though his grip tightened, making it rather uncomfortable to breathe.

“What makes you think I need a wimp like you?” he asked with a raised eyebrow as his grip became tighter.

“I'm not a wimp. And of course, you need a wife to ward off the nagging of your family, and I kind of need you too, sadly.” All the while, we stared deep into each other’s eyes.

He suddenly let go and took out his handkerchief to wipe his hands clean.

“My family will be here soon. Try not to be a b*tch in front of them.” He straightened his blazer as he went back to the couch, and I huffed.

True to his words, his family came bursting through the doors, and it felt really awkward.

“Oh my goodness, honey, are you okay? Were you hurt?” His mother came over to where I was and began checking my entire body to be sure I wasn't hurt. This act ignited a weird feeling inside of me.

“Come on, lady, don't be dramatic,” the one I presumed to be Mr. Grumpy's father said.

He had the same cold look as his son, but his words said otherwise.

“Hello, Ma'am Carter, Lord Carter,” I politely greeted.

“Are you forgetting someone?” a female voice asked. I glanced in the direction of the voice to find a beautiful lady standing right there with a few gift bags.

I instantly recognized her from Rosetta's memory.

“Mia,” I called out her name and forced a smile, but to my surprise, she turned to her arrogant brother and charged at him angrily.

“You crazy sadist! How could you let this happen to her, huh? Was this your plan to get rid of her?” She threw her bag at him, but he effortlessly moved away, and I resisted the urge to laugh.

“It wasn't my fault; she's clumsy,” he said while staring at me, but his sister began throwing stuff at him.

“How dare you call her clumsy! She's my sister-in-law!” Mia declared her territory, but he didn't budge.

“That's right, Will, you should really look after her,” his mother said while sitting right beside me.

“Stop interfering in my affairs,” he coldly stated.

“You should know you're not going to weasel your way out of this,” his father added, and I was leaping with joy inside.

“You look so skinny. Have you been eating well?” His mom spoke with a look of concern as she stroked my palm.

“I'm fine, ma'am.” I forced a smile and tried to take my hand away from hers, but she held it firmly.

“I told you to call me Mother. We're going to be a family anyway,” she insisted, but the word ‘Mother’ left a strange feeling on my tongue.

Williams stood up and left without hesitation, and I was all alone with his family, who surprisingly were nothing like him.

“I will have the family chef prepare some soup for you, okay? Tell me if you need anything else,” she added, and I found myself smiling even though I knew all the attention was never for me.

“I think she needs to rest now; she looks so pale already,” Mr. Carter informed his wife, who was being overly sensitive.

“You both can leave now. I'll take care of her,” Mia assured them, and only then did they make an attempt to leave.

“Take good care of yourself, okay? I'll have the chef send a few meals to help you feel better,” she assured me, and I nodded with a smile.

“Thanks, Mom.” I forced it out of my mouth, and she was pleased.

“Make sure she eats a lot of healthy meals, Mia.” She turned to her daughter before they left.

Once they were gone, Mia moved closer while grinning from ear to ear.

“You can always come to me whenever that grumpy brother of mine tries to bully you,” she said, and I chuckled.

“You don't have to worry about that. I can handle him,” I spoke confidently, but she was unconvinced.

“Really? A couple of weeks ago you were so scared of him you wouldn't look him in the eyes. What changed?”

“Erm, Mia, could you go get some food? I'm starving,” I politely asked. She nodded in understanding before excusing herself, and I was left alone.

Once she was gone, I stood up and went over to the balcony of the room, standing there, letting the cool breeze play with my hair.

I could still hear the voice in my head—the same voice of the man who killed me.

EVELYNE'S POV I just have to keep playing along with him until I've got solid evidence that he is actually connected to the Organization, I thought to myself as I stared down at the garden right behind the hospital. I stroked my temple as I felt a migraine coming on. There was no doubt my soul was having a hard time getting used to Rosetta's weak frame; hence, the sudden blackout. “You're slacking off, Eve,” I mumbled while I tried to analyze everything I remembered from that day. That man was obviously someone who knew Williams. No one had access to the VIP lounge; only people who were authorized to come see the man of the hour. “I wonder what secret you're hiding.” A strange glint flashed through my eyes, too quickly for anyone to notice, as I came up with a plan. I turned around, went back to my bed, and carefully picked up Mia's laptop. I just needed to know the keys she'd clicked on. To find out, I raised it closer and carefully stared at the keyboard for prints

EVELYN’S POV “She is my fiancée, Miss Glenn,” he introduced courtly. The bald man looked at him with a surprised expression before glancing over at me with a bright smile. I reciprocated, flashing a charming grin, and I could feel Williams' arm tighten around my waist, his grip bordering on painful. “Nice to meet you, beautiful Miss Glenn.” Alan stretched out his hand for a handshake. Before I could lift my hand, Williams intercepted. He grabbed Alan’s hand in a crushing grip, embarrassing the man instantly. I resisted the urge to laugh at the display of territorial dominance. I took a sip from my glass of red wine, staring coquettishly at the bald man over the rim. Alan smiled nervously, clearly sensing the danger radiating from my "fiancé." “Nice to meet you too, Mr...?” “Alan. Call me Alan,” he responded immediately. I nodded with a polite smile. “Would you excuse us for a moment?” Williams spoke. His voice was calm, but it was laced with a cold, underlying ange

EVELYN’S POV I looked at her with a look of pure disgust. “You tried to kill me, and you think you can get away with it?” I raised an eyebrow. Her eyes flickered with panic as she stared at her mother for help. “What are you talking about, Rosie? Ivy is your sister. You shouldn't say such things just because you're mad,” her mother said. Even though she was trying to sound like a loving parent, I could see right through her facade. It disgusted me. “Oh, stop with the pretense. It's starting to bore me,” I spoke nonchalantly. I turned my attention to setting up my new cellphone, but a message popped up on the screen that made me frown. “You don't talk to your mother like that!” the woman screeched. “You're not my mother! Get the hell out of my face!” I barked angrily. My voice was laced with a killing intent they had never heard before. They flinched backward in fear, realizing for the first time that the docile Rosetta was gone. Terrified, they rushed out of the ro

I had only known him for a few minutes, and he was already driving me crazy.“I'm quite sure you haven't gone deaf,” he muttered without sparing me a glance.“Just who the hell do you think you are?” I felt like punching him in the face.“You wanted to marry me badly, remember?” He scoffed nonchalantly.I felt my anger rising rapidly. I took deep breaths to calm down.“Well, I'm not interested in getting married to a stupid narcissist,” I said bluntly. His hands seemed to freeze mid-air over his tablet.
