Today I was happy but angered. For the whole day, I was not going to do any chores, but I was going somewhere I didn't want to be.

Prison.

The maids gathered around and donated things like food, snacks,, and blankets. I would have to present them to someone who I have grown an immense hatred for.

Nia.

It felt like I was living in her shadow

All through that week, the maids wouldn't stop yapping about how kind the alpha's mate was. It irked me badly. I always caught myself most eye-rolling. Amidst all this faux love, there was someone who kept me uncomfortable.

Shelly.

She became closer. Like we did almost everything together. At first, I thought she was trying to come closer to me, but the more she got closer, the more it became obvious she wanted something. Like, know my secrets.

So I stopped her. I went as far as pissing her off. She got angry and backed off.

"Amelia, please give this to Her Majesty,," one of the maids said.

"She's not yet Luna so you can't addre

Looking at the gifts in my hands, I didn't know what to think. I was confused. Why would Amelia just run off like that? Was anything chasing her? I shrugged and took the gifts back to my cell and then I began to unwrap. There was little food and heartwarming letters. I read them and tears wouldn't stop streaming down my eyes. I looked around me and the tears wouldn't stop rushing. I had no cellmate. No one was around me either. I was kept in a special cell. Like the ones for people who would be soon killed. Do you know what it feels like? Like any moment now you could be breathing your last. The guards can just come in and carry you off to the silver house or to be hung. What hurt me the most was not that I was dying but because I was dying for something I was about important. If I wanted to kill Knox, I could have tried long ago but I couldn't and didn't. A lot had changed since I stayed with him. He's changed and I have no reason to kill him. I have cried enough that

I froze. Poison? How could that be? I mean, I was okay, but. I still collapsed or something. "I went out that day. Maybe the person gave me something to eat knowing—" I gasped. That meant someone else knew that the alpha was an active pool vampire. "I don't think so, but that is a probability,," Sean said. "I—" Suddenly, the door swung up, and I didn't get to say what I wanted. "Sir, elder Abram is doing a routine check in the prison; we have to return Miss Nina back,," the female warden said. My heart flew. Vok cursed. "That elder Abram is getting on my nerves" "Quick, you have to leave,," Sean said. He grabbed my hands and we began to run. A lot was happening so fast. I had no time to assimilate anything. And just like that, I was now in my cell. I didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye to Vok but something told me that we would be seeing again. With the way he was taking it. I knew we had a lot to discuss. I thought the gamma that had helped me escape. I had

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    A love story

The chilling night air carried the scent of rain down earth as I sat beside Lilith. We had finished dinner, and I could see a story coming up with the way she was looking at me. Lilith had been uncharacteristically quiet all night. It wasn’t like her. My best friend was the kind of girl who filled every silence with a sharp remark or a ridiculous observation. But tonight, she was lost in thought, lips pressed together as if holding back a secret that was threatening to burst free. She kept telling me to wait as she would tell me the story soon. So I let her be. I bumped my shoulder against hers. “Okay, spill it. You’ve been acting weird all night.” She exhaled, finally glancing my way. “It’s… complicated.” I stopped walking, folding my arms. “So uncomplicated it.” Lilith hesitated, then turned to face me fully. “It’s about my love for Vow.” That name hit like a gust of cold wind. “Love? Vok?” I repeated. “As in, Beta Vok? The guy who was released and has a son?” Lilit

“Nina! Nina! Wait! “A voice screamed behind me and I turned around. I narrowed my eyes. I swear, if I was not feeling an inch sleepy, I would have said that it was Lilith. But what was Lilith doing in my cell side, especially this early morning? “Nina wait!” then I saw clearly. My eyes widened. It was indeed Lilith. Two female wardens stood before her, stopping her to get to me. “You can’t come any closer, without permission” She begged. “I need to speak to my friend. It ‘'s very urgent. I won’t take most of your time” she struggled with them. “Step back!” Lilith was staring into my eyes. “Nina I need to talk to you” I didn’t know what to do but I knew I had to do something before it was too late. I broke free from the arms of the female wardens holding me captive. “Miss Nina” they stood in my way as she dragged me roughly. I glared at them. “You should know I am the alpha’s vessel” and immediately they let me go. “Let her come to me” I ordered to the others.

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    So that’s it?

It was with a mix of anxiety and anger that I took in the information. Vok wanted to see me. What for now? Was he going to come with his fiancée or what? Why in the world would he want to see me after what he had done to Lilith? As I made my way out of my cell, I prepared in my head a bucketful of words that were not only going to hurt Vok, but I’d leave him tossing and turning on the bed. The only thing I couldn’t do was smack him right in the face. Leaving Lilith just like that was enough, but I understand none of that was his fault, but why would he want to make that worse? But no matter how evil and rotten and wicked I had arranged my words for Vok, nothing at all prepared me for what I would see in the visitation room. Seeing Vok in visitation was clear proof that something was wrong. Then, when I walked in to see his hands laced together with Amelia’s, I lost all my speech abilities. If I had the power, I would immediately turn my head around and run, but I couldn’t.

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    Dreams

It was the summer before I was declared the heir alpha of winter fell. Everyone was around me like flies would do to poop I hated it. And I matter how I tried to tell him that I wasn’t comfortable with the way people looked at me, he always said one quote. I think it sounded like uneasy lies in the head that wears the crown. He said I was chosen to lead, and there were no buts. I grudgingly agreed. So, one weekend, Dad sent me on a mission outside the pack to capture an enemy oak. I was scared as hell, but the last thing I would ever do was complain. Mom didn’t ever want to listen. So I went with the pack army for a surprise attack. Dad didn’t want to send me but he had to. The elders were beginning to grumble. He just bowed to pressure. “Listen up, guys, we camp here for the night!” Stan, my beta in training, commanded, and my cousin said... We had been marching since dawn. The road to the Night Howlers pack wasn’t this far, but because we were attacking them unannounced

I raised an eyebrow. “What did you say?” I growled. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “She’s in the prison, your highness,” Vok said and looked away. “How did she get there?” I snapped. “The elders made the decision; I couldn’t do anything,” he said. “They needed someone responsible for that incident and no matter how I tried to make them see that Nina was innocent, that morning, nobody listened to me. “Which elder was spearheading this?” “Elder Abram” I gritted my teeth. That old man has bitten more than he can chew. My nose flared; well, he had a point. Those elders can make one go loco. I pitied Vok fir a moment. He was more of a swordsman. He knew absolutely nothing about alpha politics. So that was why I cut him some slack. “I hope she has not been harmed.” Vok shook his head. “Not a hair on her head.” “Good” “Go and call the elders, we are going to sit” “Now?” “Yes,” came my sharp answer. I wasn’t going to let Nina spend another night in prison. My

“So, your Highness, you let her poison you to catch her?” Brandon asked. I nodded smiling. “Exactly” I could already imagine Amelia handing Nina something to drink. She poisons it, but she knows it can’t kill Nina because she puts the antidote in the mouth of the juice. The small portion could not affect Nina, but it couldn’t heal me. So when I fed from Nina, I got the poison, but the dose count healed me. She was smart. I have to say, she really is. “Wow, that’s brave,,” Brandon said. I clapped my hands. “So Vok what’s your idea to catch Amelia?” Vok leaned away from the chair. “Your Highness. You are probably the only one who hasn’t heard yet.” he glanced at Sean and Brandon, who wouldn’t look me in the eye. “What Vok?” I stared at the three. “I don’t like the way, all of you are looking away” Vok sighed. “Your Highness Amelia knows you are a hybrid” “Yes, she does” Yes, she has seen me feed. “She told me that if I didn’t want her to talk, I had to mark and mate

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    Embarrassed

Ugh. Freaking great. Just great. I slammed the bathroom door behind me and leaned against the sink, glaring at my reflection like it had personally betrayed me. “Nice job, genius,” I muttered, brushing my messy hair out of my face. “You just had to fall right in front of the alphas and beta" The sound of the laughter that erupted from the crowd still made me shudder. I have always been the clumsy one. Before I left the hall miss Danielle gave me some uniforms to change into. My elbow was throbbing, and I was pretty sure there was ketchup on my ass. Fantastic. Couldn’t even wipe out gracefully. I let out a frustrated groan and kicked the air. “I swear I’m cursed,” I hissed, grabbing a paper towel to dab at my shirt. The stain was spreading like it was mocking me. “Can’t even walk straight. Why do I even bother wearing these damn shoes?” I looked up again. My cheeks were still burning, my eyes wild with that mix of embarrassment and rage. I hated this. Hated feeling like some cl

2weeks later I had tears welled up in my eyes as I tried to clean Nina's wounds. The ice dungeon had done more than harm to her. I pitied her. What she had to go through. "Miss Lilith, do you want to dab her face some more?" I shook my head. " It's enough. If I use more hot water on her face, it might burn her skin " The young maid who was my assistant nodded. She began to pack everything we had used to clean Nina. There was improvement in her condition but she doesn't speak yet. Her eyes were open but she wasn't speaking yet. "Nina" she looked at me. " Do you want to have a pineapple or mango smoothie? Blink once if it's a pineapple and twice if it's a Mango" Nina blinked twice and I smiled. We were getting better at this. I took out the mango smoothie and put a straw in it. Then I helped her sit up and held the drink to her lips After all that, I and the maid cleaned up the alpha's room and left. Now the work begins. Even though I was Nina's maid and had my own qua

I was shocked to find the people I had seen in my dreams sitting in a room. Sean, the gamma and Vok, the beta. I wondered what was going on. I walked slowly to them.they talked in high voices. They hadn't noticed my presence. I recalled the conversation I once had with Nina. She told me to be careful with Vok. And after staying in the prison and there was no hope of myself getting out, I somehow began to see meaning with what Nina said. It was some sort of open secret that high ranking wolves in the pack were not trustworthy. The warden with me cleared her throat and they immediately turned. "Here she is sirs" she bowed a little and turned back. I bowed as I walked to them.. "Sir you want to see me?" I asked. They nodded. "We need your help" Sean said. "On what?" I replied. Vok nudged Sean and he closed his mouth. Not saying anything again. Vok looked up at me. He gave me a small smile "Firstly you have to appear in the alpha's court" he said. My heart sk

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    A weird dream

There was something odd I had noticed when I woke up. Everywhere was moving it felt like I was in transition. Rubbing my head, I managed to sit up and peered out of the window. I saw that the trees were moving. Have I been kidnapped? Fear engulfed my whole body. It was when I opened my mouth to shout that a familiar voice interrupted me. “Guys, you will attack them from the front– pause– while I and Sean with the others will take it from the back, okay? He asked” and I heard some deep voice responding. This was the voice of Vok, the beta. I found it weird that I could be in the same place with him. “What am I doing here?” I muttered to myself. It was then that it all came rushing to me. I remember being told by the warden to go cut grass in the wee hours of the morning. So I remember that I became cold. I walked into a carriage in the stable and slept off. Now I am with people I don't know, heading to somewhere I don't know. After a while, we stopped moving. “We camp here

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    Angry with her

The pack doctor said rest. He said time would fix what the cold and chains had broken. But I knew better. Time didn’t heal what was taken. Nina slept in my bed, wrapped in fur, barely breathing. I thought leaving her in the royal Infirmary was not a good idea. She needed warmth. I was ready to warm her up. I paced my room as I stared at her. Then I sat and lifted her hand. Her pulse throbbed weakly against my fingers each time I touched her wrist just to make sure she was still there. I sat beside her, unmoving, for hours. “You held on,” I whispered, brushing a knuckle down her cheek. “For me. I swear to the moon, Nina, I’ll never let you be taken again.” She didn’t wake. Didn’t need to. I knew she heard me. In my head, I had already planned what I would do to my mother. She had stepped on the tiger's tail. When I stepped out of the room, Vok was waiting in the sitting room his face was grim, his stance rigid. “She knows.” Of course, Ashira knew. My mother was smart.

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    Deceiving my mother

I got to the bathroom and slowly closed the door. I waited and listened. I could hear footsteps outside the door. I put it on the tap in the bathroom. The noise was okay. Then I tapped on the teleprompter. “Hey, Vok you there?” And all I could hear were crickets. I called out to him again, and the answer was the same. I became tired of trying to get across to him I decided to actually use the bathroom. After I flushed, I stood in front of the mirror, water dripping down my face, hands gripping the sink like it could stop the storm inside me. I have tried countless times to get across to Vok, but all of them favored me, and I was getting frustrated. Any moment now, my mother would have to be the one to knock on the door and ask what was taking me so long. Suddenly the teleprompter in my ear buzzed low. “your Highness” came my Vok's voice, tight with urgency. “We’ve hit a dead end. A gate. Reinforced steel deep in silver. If we hold in longer, we might die.” “Where is it?” I

The rain had just stopped falling and I gave the guards a signal to start moving. It wasn't a short distance but we were ready to go far to get what we wanted. Firstly I asked that the ice in the palace be warm or disposed. I mean, anything I would do to not let them keep supplying the ice dungeon more ice. That way Nina would still be alive. I and my men stopped in front of the pink gate. I rolled my eyes. My mother and weird colors. “Announce us! “ my guard ordered. “Your majesty! The alpha of winter fell is here to see you” The man hurriedly ran to open the door. I recognize him. He hadn't changed at all. Xander. My mother's minion. All Ashira had to do was to say jump and he would be asking how high. I hated him. He was spineless. Not a he wolf. He was easily ordered around like a little dog. I wondered if he ever transitioned. I doubt if he has. If not he wouldn't be this spineless. The door opened and I squinted. Stating right in front of me were colors. Like a rainbo

I paced my room. “Your Highness, Amy is here” “Let her in !” The door to my chambers was slightly open. I could see the figure there. I could smell the fear on her body. “Come on” She flinched and nodded quickly. “Where is she?” My voice was quiet, dangerously quiet. The kind of quiet that came before a storm. Before I rained terror. I was even surprised at myself. Normally I would have snapped two necks by now. I stood in the center of my room, my chest heaving, eyes glowing an eerie gold. The air crackled with the tension of what my next action would be. Kill her? Amy, the maid, stood frozen as she stood there. Her hands clutched the corner of her apron like a lifeline. “My…. My… I mean. Your Highness…I—” I didn't need to repeat myself. In a flash, I was in front of her, fangs bared, eyes wild with something far more dangerous than rage, desperation. I need to find her before my mother gets hold of her. “Where. Is. My. Mate?” I growled. Amy trembled, her knees bu

“We are back, your Highness.” The new secretary turned to me and Vok with a bright smile. I dropped my phone. “I guess it's goodbye to seeing all those humans and their fat faces,” I replied. Vok and the secretary chuckled. I sighed and opened the door. I stretched my legs and walked to the other side. I smiled, staring at the environment. The green vegetation and all. Not those colored plastics Humans make in the lab. It is indeed good to be home. “Your Highness, the alpha of the blue moon pack sends his regards,” the secretary announced suddenly. I frowned. “Sorry Your Highness, Sir,, “ he said looking at me and Vok before he finally disappeared “Vok are you sure he's a werewolf?” Vok smiled. “ yes your highness” I sighed. It's been a while, really. I began to think about my life for the past one month. 2 weeks earlier, when I saw that the job here on the human side was way too big to be done within a week, I became worried. How would the pack go on? Vok began to m
