Kael's POV
Taking away a person's freewill was one of the most difficult things for me to do. Although having the ability as an Alpha to keep the pack in line, I promised myself I would not use such humiliating powers on anyone.
But for her own sake, I had to do it. I was surprised when it failed for the first time in my life.
“Half-breed?” I muttered in surprise upon hearing her words. The Alpha's daughter, my MATE was a Half-breed?
She quickly walked up to me. “Why do you not want me, Alpha Kael? Is it because I am a Half-breed?” She asked.
I could see the sadness in her eyes. My rejection had hurt her, but she wouldn't have felt any of that if the Alpha Voice had worked. Now I feel guilty.
“Seraphina, I didn't even know you were a Half-breed before now.” I answered honestly.
“Please do not send me away, I cannot return to my Pack as my father would kill me.”
I thought she meant that figuratively until Varköl whispered in my head that he had freed her from a dungeon.
“Why does the Alpha want to kill you?”
“He hates me, my stepmom framed me for murder. If you don't want to claim me as your mate, I could live with the pain, but please don't send me back there.” She begged.
“Mate! Stay!” Varköl howled in my head. Of course, he spoke only when he felt like it.
If I turned down his request, the devil in wolf fur would make my life a living hell.
I stared at Seraphina's body and I noticed the scars she bore. Some old, others new. I felt bad for her. At the end of the day, she was my mate, I had to protect her.
I growled in frustration of the dilemma I faced. I couldn't accept her as my mate, not because she was a weak Half-breed but because of her own safety.
“Fine. You can stay.” I mumbled.
Her eyes lit up immediately. “Really?”
“Yes, but only as a guest in my Pack. I will protect and provide for you, but that is all I will owe you while you are here. We will not have a relationship and I will not claim you as my mate. Do you agree?”
Her excitement died down at my proposal but she nodded. “Yes, thank you.” she muttered.
I turned around and walked to the door, then I paused and looked back at her.
“And Sera… Take a bath and change into something clean, you stink.”
I don't know why she found that funny but she smiled, exposing her white teeth; her pretty smile caught my attention.
I chuckled and left the room, knowing it might be the last time she sees me. If my first marriage taught me anything, it was that I couldn't have love or relationships, I was destined to be alone.
I was in my study room when Jose walked in, I had been expecting him.
“How bad was it?” I asked immediately, as I couldn't recollect what had happened last night.
Whenever Varköl takes over, I happen to black out with no memories of my actions afterwards. It was not usual for werewolves, especially Alphas. But I didn't have a regular wolf, I was born with a demon wolf.
“Luckily, no one died. I mean, of course aside from the two omegas who were standing guard that you tore beyond recognition.”
My face dropped. “I killed someone on the day of the festival and in the Host's pack, surely it's against the rules.”
“True, but the council has decided to make an exception due to your… your condition.” Jose hesitated to say the word.
I sighed and shook my head. “I knew going there last night was a bad idea.”
“This isn't your fault, Kael. Your Wolf has a mind of its own.”
“Which is why I should have known better than to be around people. I am cursed, Jose. Everything I touch dies. The council might have spared me sanctions today but what of the next time I lose control and exterminate an entire family or a whole pack? What then?” I yelled.
I could see fear in my Beta's eyes, and he was right to be afraid. Intense emotions like the one I felt right now was an invitation for the demon wolf.
Jose sighed. “Alpha Kael, I understand how you feel, but please let us worry about the things at hand. While the council has ruled you innocent, Alpha Garrick claims you took his daughter, is there a truth to that?”
I paused, realizing that he had no idea.
“Jose, send my message to Alpha Garrick. Tell him that his Daughter is my Mate.”
My Beta was shocked at the revelation. “Huh?” He muttered.
“Seraphina stays, send the message!” I declared in finality.
While I might never have a relationship with her, I will have to defend her with my life. Else the demon in my head takes matter into his own hands.
If anyone touches our mate, I fear for their fate. I knew one thing for certain… Varköl would tear the Northern Kingdom apart for this girl he just met. I don't know why but he was very protective of her.
His Half-breed Mate!

Seraphina's POV I groaned and opened my eyes; slowly at first, trying to get used to the light coming in from the window. My body ached like I had been dragged through hell.It was morning. I sighed, staring at the ceiling, before it dawned on me that something was wrong.I sat up immediately and saw that I was in a strange bedroom. It smelled like lavender and garlic. Where was I?I looked to my left and just then I saw a man sleeping on the bed beside me. I jumped off the bed immediately, feeling confused and scared.Am I dead?I looked around the room, it was a luxurious home and there was no such structure in my Pack.I slowly climbed back up on the bed to take a closer look at the sleeping man.My jaw dropped at his beauty; he had dark tousled hair, with strands brushing against his forehead. And his lashes; long, dark, indecently pretty—cast shadows against his cheeks.High cheekbones, strong jawline dusted with the faintest hint of stubble, and lips so perfectly carved they al
Kael's POVI looked out of the window as my Beta, Jose drove into the New Dawn Pack house. I had been feeling strange ever since we got into their territory. We had come for the Festival of the Genesis Accord which they were hosting this year.I am not usually one to attend these events. I prefer to stay behind my tall fence and iron gate, but Jose had convinced me to attend this year as it was going to be my turn to host next year and if I didn't at least attend one, it wouldn't be received well by the council. The festival of the Genesis Accord was a yearly party held to celebrate the peace pact made between the ten packs of the Northern Kingdom nine years ago. Before the treaty, there had been a lot of enmity between the packs, resulting in constant bloodshed and disputes. So the council came up with a way we could all coexist in harmony with no unnecessary deaths. It was called the Genesis Accord because it was the beginning of everything peaceful.“We are here.” Jose announced as
Seraphina's POVI didn't know how long I had been in here but I could tell it was night already. I could hear the sound of music thumping on the floor above the dungeons. The festival of the Genesis Accord must have begun already.“Tsk tsk tsk… I always knew this was how you would end,” Daniel taunted me from outside the cell.He was one of the guards watching me and the two of us had a history. Last year, Daniel had tried to force himself on me, I screamed but when my father came in, Daniel lied that I was the one who got onto him.Of course, my father believed him and called me a whore.“You are just like your mother, ready to jump on the first man you see.” Alpha Garrick had said to me.Right now Daniel was gloating over my battered body, this must be a fun sight for him to watch.I heard footsteps on the stairs coming down to the underground cell and I looked up, hoping it was Blake; maybe he had convinced my father to let me go.But the hope in my eyes died when I saw Lyra walk i
Seraphina's POV“She has killed my baby! The witch has killed my baby!”That was my stepmom screaming on the floor. And me? I just stood there, too stunned to speak. With such acting skills, she could probably make it big in Hollywood. Seconds ago, Lyra; my father's Luna had called me into her room, and while I had expected nothing good, I didn't imagine she would straight up accuse me of murder. When my father; Alpha Garrick, rushed into the room the next second, I knew at that very moment— my life was over.“Lyra! Are you alright?” He rushed to her. “What happened?” He asked, fear in his eyes.“The baby, Garrick. I cannot feel him anymore, your unborn heir is dead and it was all her doing. She pushed me and I fell on my stomach, now the baby is gone.” Fake tears poured down her eyes as she pointed at me.My jaws dropped in shock. What?My father turned to face me immediately, anger burning in his yellow eyes. “You Half-breed bastard!” He got up immediately.“She is lying, father!”
