Duncan paced his room, thinking of several ways to tell Lucas about Arianna’s identity. He knew Lucas wouldn't take the news lightly—especially when he knew about the plans Duncan had for Arianna.

Lucas had been deeply traumatized by the war. Imagine watching his pregnant mother being raped and brutalized at a young age, then being forced to accept a sudden rush of power to face a terrifying battle.

It had taken him a long time to come to terms with reality of Arianna's bloodline, and it had eventually happened because of the mate bond and the beautiful soul his woman had.

However, when it came to Lucas—Duncan truly didn’t know how he’d react. Lucas’ arrival was announced, and the door creaked open.

Lucas spoke as soon as he entered. “Your Highness, there's a message from the south Emissaries.”

Duncan’s eyes darkened.

“They found the rogue leader and requested either your presence or mine,” Lucas explained, and Duncan’s expression darkened even more. “I’ll go.”
