Here is a new update. Sorry for the delay - my day job called me away earlier this week but we should be good the rest of this week. Hope you enjoyed the chapter - be sure to leave a comment, review, or gem to let me know what you think. Ellie xo
Marly POV “Your sister?” I questioned, surprised that they would be after her. “Why are you willing to help us?” I added. “Because she needs to be stopped. We thought she had been long gone, but clearly, she was hiding, becoming stronger, and more bitter,” the leader stated. “We love her, but we know she needs to be stopped,” the second added. “Did you ever meet Elder John?” I asked, curious about the relationship between Cecilia and John. “Only once,” the third sister replied sadly. “He was a cold man, where Cecilia had always been affectionate up to that point,” the sister added. “We told her we thought he was not good for her; that was mistake number one,” the first sister said. “Why?” Sarah asked, both of us entrenched in the story. “Because it was the first time we had a barrier between us. We knew she deserved better. He was not good for her. She grew colder around us, until one day she turned on all of those who loved her,”
Marly POV “What does that mean, Marly?” Carson asked me. I felt both Carson and Marise move closer to me. “She is in this general area, from what my program is telling me,” I replied, turning the laptop to Carson. “That seems too easy. She wants to be found,” Marise stated, concern filling her voice. “What does that mean, Marise?” Carson asked getting frustrated at the puzzle around him. “It means she has already come to you. You do not need to track her down. She wanted you to find her. She has come to fight,” Marise stated, a chill running down my back. “Why?” I asked. “You destroyed her mate. She wants payback. Only her payback will result in death,” Marise replied. Carson studied the map, “She is with his body,” he replied, turning to head out the door. “Do not go unprepared, Carson. You will get many killed, including yourself,” Marise stated. “You cannot know that,” Carson replied angrily. “I do know that. I have a
Carson POV I was furious at the moment. Marly had taken such a huge risk, I could hardly see straight. And now this woman, was in front of her and I could see the power resonating from Cecilia as she spoke with Marly. “I bet you think you are so smart; figuring out who I am,” Cecilia responded. “Well, it has definitely thrown you off,” Marly responded, not showing a hint of fear. “It has not thrown me off. I want to know why John was murdered,” Cecilia stated bluntly. “He was not murdered, he was destroyed,” Marly stated. “Why?” Cecilia demanded to know. “He was a toxic virus that needed to be destroyed,” I said, interjecting myself into the conversation. “Ah, I see your fated mate is there with you … or rather was your fated mate,” Cecilia added with a chuckle. “You bitch! I will kill you before this is all done,” I spit out, pissed at everything happening beyond my control. “I would like to see you try, Lycan,” she responded calmly.
Marly POV My heart was racing as I tried to hack into the computer. I tried every sequence, every trick I could imagine. I knew Carson was tracking down our team who has some experienced in safely detonating bombs. However, I could not give up trying, I needed to break into this computer. It had critical information. It had to, otherwise, why would it be protected? I felt Carson pacing beside me but I had successfully blocked him out. I was down to nine minutes, and I felt sweat on my brow. “Marly, let it go. We can find Cecilia some other way,” Carson urged, wanting to toss the laptop before it blew up in my face. “I cannot give up. There are big secrets here for them to want to keep us out,” I said, my face determined to continue at the task at hand. I heard people entering the door, “Marly, let the squad take a look,” Carson urged, but I shook my head no. “There is no time to let that happen, Carson. Just trust me,” I re
Marly POV Carson had convinced me to take a break before I started to scan the computer. He had been right; I needed the break before I tackled the hacking of the Elder’s history. We had retired to our room, Carson bringing the laptop with him. “I do not trust this being out of my sight,” he said, as he locked it into his room safe. I nodded, “It seems surreal, doesn’t it? Elder John being the betrayer?” I asked, realizing this was the first we had a chance to speak about everything so far. “It is surreal, frustrating, and so much more I cannot even convey,” Carson admitted. “The worst part is tampering with our bond,” he added. “I know,” I replied with a sigh. “What is wrong?” Carson asked, pulling me into his lap. “Everything. I miss the sparks that bounced between us, I miss seeing my full mark on your neck. I miss it all,” I replied softly, as I laid my head against Carson’s shoulder. “I still feel the sparks, Marly
Sarah POV I broke free from Marly and raced towards the house. There was so much smoke, and the heat was unbearable. “JEFF!” I screamed into the darkness. How could he have survived? The second explosion would have happened when he was in there. Why did he go without me? I would die without Jeff by my side. I felt Carson’s hands take my arms, preventing me from going any further. “He is over there,” he said, but I could not register what he was saying. Who was over where? Why do I care? I need to get to my mate. Carson was more forceful, dragging me away from the flames. “Jeff survived; he is over there!” Carson shouted at me, trying to get my attention. Where? I thought scanning around the house. All I could see was debris. And then I noticed Marly racing towards the side of the house. “JEFF?” I screamed as Carson released me and I followed behind Marly, getting to Jeff before she did. He had burns
