Chapter 9: Start Studying

Su Lan opened her info screen and started reading her books. After understanding the basic magic books she started to practice. Taking in the elements from the air and circulate it around in her body. Afterwards gather the elements and sort it out in her dantian. Her level went up really fast after 3 hours. She was already at Green Stage level 7. What others needed 5 years to get to only took her 3 hours. Su Lan knew this was because she was a black stage level 7 sword fighter and that she had a cultivation body. Su Lan took a break and walked outside. She needs to find a place to practice her magic skills.

When she walked outside she saw Mango standing outside guarding the door. Mango walked over and asked if she needed anything.

Su Lan: "No, I am going to head to my research lab."

Mango: "Okay, is there anything you want to eat."

Su Lan: "I want some red bean bun."

Mango: "Red Bean Bun?"

Su Lan: "Never mind, just make me some pastry."

Mango: "Yes."

Su Lan walked to her research lab.  After she saw her lab she wanted to say her father really pampered her. Su Lan smiled and walked in. After taking a look around she can only say the medical skills in this moral realm are very low. Considering her equipment to be most advanced but it was made very crudely. Although she was always at home before, she loved to read the medical books at her home library. She was knowledgeable on both eastern and western medicine. Her memories here also show the alchemist knowledge here. Although the medical herbs here were different from the ones on earth her secret garden had both.

Su Lan sat down on the chair and started to try out some simple magic skills.

Based on the books how the magic was formed was based on people's imagination. Su Lan starts by using light skills. She thought of a ball of light and a palm size light bulb floating on top of her hand. Su Lan then tried it with all the other elements. After she tried space magic trying to teleport an item a meter away from her. The cup she was holding ended up on the table a meter away. After doing simple experiments with her magic skills she got the hang on how to use magic. What Su Lan didn't know was people here had to take at least one year to get a basic magic right. The people here also didn't have more than one magic element; the ones that had two were considered to be geniuses. Each person will have one ball of light in their dantian even if they have 2 elements. Su Lan had a ball of each element separated in her diantian. The books she had on basic magic did teach basic magic but didn't teach her the norm here. Also because she had the medicine god’s bloodline the basic magic book given to her by the spirit was different from what others had learned. Her original self here was absorbed in her own world and didn't know the norm either.

After a while Mango knocked on the door.

Su Lan stopped and turned to the door.

Su Lan: "Come in."

Mango: "Little miss, I brought the pastries."

Su Lan: "Put it on the table."

Mango: "Yes."

Su Lan looked at the pastry and felt like her world was ending. How can that be pastry!? It looked like a clump of flour and sugar. She could tell it was hard from too much sugar that it didn't even rise. Su Lan liked pastry with less sugar since she didn't really have a sweet tooth. Her mouth started to twitch after seeing the clump of .... she didn't know how to describe it. The dark spots on it ... with one look someone could tell too much sugar was added on top that it got burned.

Su Lan turned to Mango and asked.

Su Lan: "What is this?"

Mango: "Pastries bought from the most famous Dark Pastries store."

Su Lan: "... what is the pastry store name again?"

Mango: "Dark Pastries, the most famous pastry store in his country. Not only that, it has chain stores all across the world (moral realm)."

Su Lan: "... is there only this type of pastry?"

Mango: "Yes, only this store has pastry. Master had some people line up for hours every day so Little Miss could have pastries."

Mango said all this because she knew how clueless her miss was on everything but medicine.

Su Lan: "... oh." (Su Lan thought maybe it doesn't taste that bad since it was this famous.)

Su Lan picked up a piece and took a small bite and started tearing.

Mango: "Little miss it is good right."

Su Lan grabbed the tea on the table and started chugging it down.

Su Lan: (in her mind) These are definitely dark pastries! It's like eating a hard clump of sugar. It was sweet to the point that it tasted bitter.

Su Lan: "Tell father to not buy any more pastries from now on. Tell him I want to eat something else for a while."

Mango: "Yes, little miss."

Su Lan gave her the rest of the pastry and watched as Mango went out smiling. Su Lan thought at least the food was normal but she only ate congee so far. Su Lan shivered thinking of the pastry again. She must make some of her own! Then she thought again, did people here have different preferences in the taste of food? Why did Mango look so happy to eat those literally “dark pastries”. For someone who liked light taste pastries, she felt her taste bud get killed by those “pastries”. Usually even cupcakes that were a bit too sweet were unbearable to her. She never thought the pastries here were “a clump of charcoal mixed with sugar.” Su Lan shivered and quickly grabbed her cup again, poured more tea and gulped it down to get rid of the taste. She shook her head trying to get her mind off the pastry and got up.

Su Lan (in her mind): I must find something to save my taste buds!
