The Woman He Married....

The next few weeks passed more peacefully than either Liam or Judith expected.

The media had finally found a new scandal to obsess over. Judith's pregnancy was progressing well. Business was stable. Family gatherings had somehow become a regular occurrence.

Everything should have felt perfect.

Which was exactly why Liam was nervous.

Because the closer he got to Judith, the more he realized there were still things he needed to fix.

Not in the future.

Now.

One afternoon, Liam drove to a place he hadn't visited in almost a year.

The house he had once shared with Judith.

Their marital home.

The mansion stood exactly as he remembered it.

Elegant.

Impressive.

Empty.

As he stepped inside, memories hit him harder than expected.

For years he had viewed this house as a place to sleep between meetings.

Now he saw it differently.

Now he saw traces of Judith everywhere.

The reading corner she had created near the window.

The flowers she used to arrange herself.

The artwork she had chosen because she thought the house felt too cold.

Back then he barely noticed any of it.

Now it was all he could see.

He slowly walked upstairs.

When he reached the master bedroom, he stopped.

Everything was exactly the same.

The closet.

The furniture.

The photographs.

Then his eyes landed on something hidden at the back of a shelf.

A box.

Curious, he opened it.

Inside were dozens of photographs.

Old photographs.

His chest tightened.

Most of them were pictures of him.

Not official photographs.

Not business portraits.

Normal moments.

Liam drinking coffee.

Liam sleeping on a flight.

Liam laughing during a family gathering.

Liam looking annoyed during a vacation.

Moments he didn't even know had been captured.

He sat on the edge of the bed and continued looking through them.

Then he found something else.

Letters.

His stomach dropped.

He immediately recognized Judith's handwriting.

The first letter was dated two years into their marriage.

Liam hesitated before reading.

Then he unfolded it.

Today you forgot our anniversary.

I know you're busy, so I'm trying not to be upset.

I told everyone you had an important meeting.

Maybe you really did.

I still waited until midnight anyway.

His grip tightened around the paper.

He opened another.

I think I'm starting to understand that loving someone doesn't guarantee they'll love you the same way.

I wish that realization didn't hurt so much.

Another.....

Today you smiled at me during breakfast.

It's embarrassing how happy that made me.

Another.

Sometimes I wonder if you would notice if I disappeared.

Liam stopped reading.

He couldn't continue.

The guilt felt suffocating.

These weren't letters Judith had sent.

They were letters she had written for herself.

Thoughts she had never shared.

Pain she had carried alone.

Slowly, Liam closed the box.

For the first time in years, he hated this house.

Not because of what happened here.

Because of what didn't happen here.

That evening, he drove directly to the Lux estate.

When Judith saw him, she immediately frowned.

"You look terrible."

Liam laughed quietly.

Apparently everyone was saying that lately.

"Can we talk?"

Her expression softened.

"Of course."

A few minutes later, they were sitting in the garden.

The same place where they had spent countless evenings over the last few months.

Liam was unusually quiet.

Judith noticed immediately.

"What happened?"

For several moments, he didn't answer.

Then he looked at her.

"I went back to the house."

Understanding flashed across her face.

The old house.

Their house.

Neither had mentioned it since the divorce.

"What for?"

"I don't know."

He gave a small shake of his head.

"Maybe I wanted to remember something."

Judith remained silent.

Waiting....

"I found a box."

Immediately, she froze.

Because she knew exactly which box.

"Oh."

Liam laughed humorlessly.

"Yeah. Oh."

For a moment neither spoke.

The memories felt too heavy.

Too personal.

Too painful.

Finally Liam looked at her.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Judith's expression softened.

"Tell you what?"

"How unhappy you were."

The answer came without hesitation.

"Because you already looked exhausted."

Liam closed his eyes briefly.

Even now.

Even after everything.

She had still been thinking about him.

"I would've listened."

The moment the words left his mouth, both of them knew they weren't entirely true.

At least not back then.

Judith gave him a sad smile.

"No, Liam."

There was no anger in her voice.

No accusation.

Just honesty.

"You wouldn't have."

The truth hurt because it was true.

Back then he would've apologized.

Promised to do better.

Then gotten distracted by work again.

Back then he loved her without realizing it.

Which, unfortunately, hadn't been enough.

Liam stared at the ground.

Then finally spoke.

"I'm sorry."

Judith looked at him.

He continued.

"For every letter."

His voice cracked slightly.

"For every time you waited."

Another pause.

"For every time I made you feel alone."

The garden became completely silent.

Judith felt tears gathering in her eyes.

Not because she needed the apology anymore.

Because she believed it.

Every word.

Every regret.

Every ounce of guilt.

Liam wasn't apologizing to get her back.

He was apologizing because he finally understood.

And somehow that mattered more.

Slowly, Judith reached for his hand.

This time neither hesitated.

Neither pulled away.

"I know."

The same words she had given him before.

Simple, quiet and powerful.

I know.

For the first time since finding the letters, Liam felt something loosen inside his chest.

Not forgiveness.

Not completely.

But something close.

As the sun disappeared beyond the horizon, they sat together in comfortable silence.

Two people who had once broken each other's hearts.

Two people trying to find their way back.

And for the first time, neither was looking at the past.

They were both looking toward the future

Forever, This Time...Three Months LaterThe Smith mansion had never been this noisy. Not because of business meetings. Not because of family gatherings. Not because of corporate events.Because of one tiny baby girl.Liam stood in the nursery holding his daughter while she stared at him with wide, curious eyes."You know," he said seriously, "your mother is unreasonable."The baby blinked.Clearly listening."She says I can't buy you a pony."The baby made a small sound.Liam nodded."Exactly."The nursery door opened.Judith walked in."Who are you conspiring with?"Liam immediately looked innocent."Nobody."Their daughter chose that exact moment to squeal.Judith crossed her arms."She's definitely your daughter.""Because she's adorable?""Because she's helping you lie."Liam grinned.Three months into parenthood, he was still ridiculously obsessed with their daughter. Not that Judith was any better. The only difference was that she pretended to be rational.Liam didn't bother pr

Welcome to the World.....By four o'clock in the morning, Judith had officially decided that childbirth was a terrible idea.A truly terrible idea. The fact that it was too late to change her mind only made things worse."Liam."He immediately looked up from beside the hospital bed."Yeah?""This is your fault."Liam blinked. The nurse laughed. The doctor laughed.Even Judith looked like she knew the accusation made no sense.Unfortunately for Liam, logic wasn't particularly useful at that moment."I'm sorry.""You should be."Another contraction hit before she could continue.Judith grabbed his hand so hard he was fairly certain she was testing the limits of human bone strength. When it finally passed, she released him and took a slow breath.Liam looked at his hand. Then at her. Then back at his hand."I think that's the third time you've almost broken my fingers.""You'll survive."The nurse nodded."You'll definitely survive."Liam was beginning to suspect nobody in the room respe

The Worst Day to Go Into Labor...Judith was thirty-six weeks pregnant when she decided she was perfectly capable of attending a board meeting.Everyone else disagreed.Especially Liam."You're not going."Judith looked up from her breakfast."Watch me."Liam sighed. They were sitting in the dining room of the Lux estate, where he had somehow become a permanent fixture. At this point, nobody questioned it anymore.Even Julian had stopped complaining.Mostly."You were in the hospital three weeks ago.""I was fine.""The doctor said rest.""The doctor also said I could move around.""Not for twelve-hour meetings."Judith ignored him and continued eating.Across the table, Eleanor quietly moved her chair farther away.Richard did the same.Years of marriage had taught them when an argument was about to happen. And when survival required distance."I'll only be there for a few hours."Liam gave her a look. The kind that clearly said he didn't believe a word she was saying.Unfortunately,

The next few weeks went by surprisingly fast.Judith was now officially forbidden from going to the office unless absolutely necessary, which meant she spent most of her time working from home and complaining about it.Nobody sympathized.Especially not Liam."I'm bored."Liam glanced up from his laptop. They were sitting in the library at the Lux estate, both supposedly working."That's unfortunate."Judith narrowed her eyes."You don't care.""I care deeply.""You don't sound like it."Liam smiled without looking up."I've heard this exact complaint seventeen times this week.""You're exaggerating.""It was nineteen."Judith grabbed a cushion and threw it at him.Unfortunately, she missed.Liam looked far too pleased with himself. Before she could launch a second attack, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen. Her mother.Immediately suspicious."Hello?""Don't make plans for Saturday."Judith frowned."What plans?""You don't need to know."That was never a good sign."Mom.""Sa

Getting back together was surprisingly anticlimactic. There were no headlines. No dramatic announcements. No grand gestures. One day Judith and Liam were divorced people trying to co-parent, and the next they were somehow acting like a married couple again. The only difference was that this time they actually talked to each other.A lot.Three days after their conversation in the garden, Judith was sitting in the living room when Ava stormed into the house."Is it true?"Judith didn't even look up from her book."Good afternoon, Ava.""It's true."Judith sighed."Who told you?""Liam."That made her look up."He told you?"Ava looked deeply offended."Do you know how long I've been waiting for this?"Before Judith could respond, Ava threw herself onto the couch."I deserve compensation.""For what?""For emotional damages.""You weren't emotionally damaged.""I absolutely was."Judith laughed. For the first time in a long while, the future didn't feel complicated. It felt normal. And

The Answer....Judith barely slept that night. Not because she didn't know what she wanted. The problem was that she did.For years, she had imagined Liam standing in front of her and telling her he loved her. She had imagined him fighting for her, choosing her, seeing her.Now that it had happened, she couldn't stop thinking about everything that came with it.Love wasn't the issue.Trust was.Liam had spent months proving he had changed, but part of her still remembered the woman who used to sit alone at dinner while her husband worked late. The woman who waited for calls that never came. The woman who convinced herself that being lonely was normal.By the time the sun rose, Judith was still awake. And exhausted.Around eight o'clock, there was a knock on her bedroom door. Before she could answer, Ava walked in carrying coffee and a bag of pastries."You look terrible.""Good morning to you too."Ava sat down on the bed."You didn't sleep."Judith groaned."Is it that obvious?""You
