Cassidy"Who are you?" I yell through the bars of our cell door. The girl snickers but doesn't reply."Answer me! What did that dream mean? Why are you here? WHO ARE YOU?" I'm pissed. I don't like mind games."QUIET!" A guard shouts. "Otherwise, you can take a trip to the pit."I have no idea what the pit is, but judging by his sneer, I doubt I want to know. I climb to the top bunk and lie down, huffing. I miss Tisha so much right now. I'm sure she is so worried. I hope she's okay. Wolvesbane pack isn't where she came from, but it has to be where she belongs. I hope Jon and Jezebel recognize that. I hope she's safe. I roll over and face the wall so that my mother can't see the tears slipping down my cheeks. After a few minutes, I hear her get settled on the bottom bunk. Not long after, I drift off to sleep. I dream of the girl and the cup game again. Everything plays out the exact same way. I wake up gasping for breath after choking on the ball again. I sit up in bed and start to scr
Cassidy"I can't believe my mother refused to come with us. I doubt they are going to be very welcoming toward her once we are gone," a voice whispers."Now isn't the time to be crying for mommy. We can't fuck around. We have to be quick if we are going to make it out of here in time," another voice huffs quietly.I can see two silhouettes, but the room is dark, so I can't quite make out who they are, although I have an idea. "Give me the syringe if you aren't going to do anything but whine.""What crawled up your ass and died? You don't have to be such a bitch!" My eyes are adjusting, but I can't see well. Why in the hell is it so dark? "Which one is Cassidy?" One of the voices hisses."Hell, if I know. Great idea cutting the lights.""If I hadn't, then the guard wouldn't have been as easy to take out. Here."One hands something to the other. I hear a scratching sound and then smell sulfur as a match is lit. The match confirms my suspicion that the two intruders are Marc and Hazel
JezebelIt's been almost two weeks since Cassidy and Shirley returned home. Cassidy has been in a coma ever since. She passed out as soon as they stepped through the gates. Everyone is worried. Tisha and Shirley have hardly left her side. The rest of us have been busy. The war is near. We can all feel it in the air. After Marc and Hazel's betrayal and the Redwood pack losing their precious captives, we know we don't have much time. We don't know how much our enemy knows about our pack or the locations of Marc's tunnels. Jon comes up behind me and rubs my shoulders."Stop thinking so much," he lectures. "We have most of the tunnels caved in and traps in the others. It isn't going to be easy for them to get through. We're a fortress," he smirks proudly."It's happening," I reply seriously. "We might win, but it isn't a sure thing. I just wish Cassidy would wake up. Or that we were successful in finding that witch Shirley said helped them escape.""She is tied to the God's somehow. Shirl
Spencer"What do you mean they escaped?" I growl.Three of my guards cower in fear before me. The block of cells they were guarding was attacked. Lights cut out. Injections of a sedative given. The fact that Marc and Hazel were discovered in the cell where my prophecy wolves were supposed to be tells me all I need to know. Bonnie and Clyde were plotting to steal one or both of them. The Gods only know where they planned to go because there aren't many options available to them. Going rogue is all they could have done. Stupid. Kids these days just don't have any fucking common sense. And where in the fuck did he get the sedatives? He tried a trick from my book. I bet the security cameras caught them in the act of some things. He must have stolen the sedatives from me. Heathen!"We failed you, Alpha. Punish us as you wish," a cracked voice whimpers, bringing me back to the guards. They all stand there with their heads hung low. They look so pathetic. "Because I need your permission fir
JezebelI drive as fast as I can toward the entrance of the pack. I can not believe the war has started."Jade?" Silence."Jade!" I cry out nervously, tears cascading down my cheeks. "Please, answer me."Silence."JADE!" I scream. And still... silence. The scream helped alleviate some of the frustration, but I'm still fucking terrified. I'm getting close to the gate. I can see the battle up ahead. I don't know what to do. There are so many wolves a few hundred yards in front of me. Jon is right. In my human form, I am weak. Jade is the real Alpha, not me. Without her, there is nothing I can do. "Jade! What about the vision? Jon does not fight this war alone, Jade. Where the fuck are you?" I growl. The silence is deafening. Maybe this isn't the only battle. Maybe this isn't our time. I decide it's probably best to just turn around and seek refuge with the rest of the innocents like Jon wanted. Before I can put the car in reverse, the passenger door swings open, and someone takes a sea
JezebelI can feel the tension as I enter my front door. I have just returned home from school. It was a really bad day! Tisha was in a great mood, which I immediately was suspicious of. Tisha is never in a good mood. She can not stand me, and the feeling is mutual. Despite our dislike of one another, we keep it cordial. Her father is our pack's Alpha, and my father is his Beta. We used to be close friends. We enjoyed sleepovers at each other's houses, went places together, and hung out at school. It has been four years since we liked one another but we are forced to play nice. Today, however, Tisha was too nice. I am usually greeted by my adoring friends once I step foot on school grounds. As I enter school, I can usually feel the heat of Tisha's eyes as she glares angrily upon me. I don't know why she hates me so much. I can't help but wonder if we were ever truly friends or if she was pretending the whole time. One day, out of the blue, she picked a fight with me and acted like I
JezebelMy head is pounding, and I can hear a faint voice telling me to open my eyes. As the voice gets louder, I recognize it is my mothers. My eyes pop open, and I sit up quickly. The room is blurry, and I keep blinking til it comes into focus. "Did I faint?""Yes, hunny. You did," my mother says. She looks rough. Her eyes are puffy, and her cheeks are flushed. Her face is tear streaked and full of worry. Her blonde hair is a frizzy mess. How long was I out, I wonder."I don't suppose that any of what I remember happening was only a dream?" I question hopefully. "No. It wasn't a dream, Jezebel. I am so sorry. I can't believe this is happening, but Alpha Theodore has exiled you. He claims suspicions of you being a witch. He justifies his claim with the fact that your wolf has yet to emerge and you are nearing your eighteenth birthday. He also believes you have cast a spell on the majority of the pack, which is why you are so adored. He says your name even sounds witchy. He does not p
JeddI had just ended a phone call with my sister Susan a few minutes before I heard the sound of tires on gravel. Susan decided she couldn't sever the mate bond, and Jezebel would be arriving alone. I thought she was crazy for even thinking about trying. Jezebel is almost an adult and capable of being on her own. I am 42 and still haven't found my mate. I am a soldier and wouldn't have been the best father or husband in my younger years, but the older I get, the more I crave being mated and creating a family. Taking Jezebel in will give me some practice on being a parent as I will be watching out for her and giving her guidance. I have lived alone for so long that it will take some adjusting to have another person living in the house, though. I step out onto the porch and wave. She slowly steps out of the car. She has long black hair and loose curls blowing in the breeze. She is wearing sunglasses with blue tinted "mirror" like lenses. I want a pair! She looks strong and rebellious.
