Chapter 6: Damien's Son

It was Sports Day at Vince private high school where some students from other schools could visit theirs.

Since he was a basketball player, he was tasked to represent their school to compete with the team. Their coach was busy training them day and night for their opponent was one of the best in their country.

Vince just started joining the Wolf Pack that semester but he always watched the team play whenever he had time.

There was one particular player in the other team that his coach told him to guard. That was Scott Thompson, also in senior year.

His skin feature was whiter than Princess Ariya in a way that people would think blood wasn't running through his veins. His face was also always cold and stiff like he was always in pain. He was tall and attractively charming.

His skill in everything especially in sports was beyond perfection. He was fast and strong.

Girls in school always cheered for his name every time they saw him but in contrast, he remained stern and icy cold. Most basketball sports fans caĺled him 'the icy man'.

When the game started, the scream of the crowd spread like wildfire. The cheerleaders danced enthusiastically to the rhythm of the music. There were banners whose favorite players' names were written.

"Icy Man!" some girls shouted in giggles when they saw Scott go out of the corner along with his teammate.

"Go Warriors!" they exclaimed in glee as they stood up from their seats.

He was from Xavier High School, a prestigious international high school that had the same level as Crestview High where Vince was studying.

In the opposite corner where the 'Wolf Pack' team emerged like a storm. Every player was running in the middle of the court except for Vince.

He walked casually but with a strong spirit which made the crowd hold their breaths. He was so regal imposing a domineering aura in the whole court.

He scanned their opponent's side and there he saw his target. He was also glaring at him like Vince was prey.

Vince saw a sneer at the corner of his lips beckoning him to start a move but he was born and raised to be calm in the midst of a game.

This time the said 'game' was deadly serious for he could feel something extraordinary from Scott. Something that was beyond his world.

"Who is that man?" he whispered to Marvin, his close teammate.

"I don't know but they call him 'the icy man'. Look at how he stares at us, it's scary. I feel goosebumps bro!" he said as he shivered.

That certain conversation was heard by Princess Ariya who was lying on her stomach on her bed, reading a fairy tale book.

Her head suddenly lifted. She stopped what she was doing and worriedly exclaimed, "Brother Vince!"

She jumped frantically out of her bed and hastily went out of her room.

"Arianna, slow down!" her nanny anxiously chased after Princess Ariya as she ran in big strides downstairs.

Her wolf instinct couldn't be hidden from her normal human actions.

So, when the nanny saw her tiny feet jump three steps down the stairs, she was shocked.

"Mommy, brother Vince is in danger!" her voice was like a loud siren that could turn the whole mansion upside down.

"Arianna! Stop shouting!" her nanny screamed while covering her ears and squatting down.

"Mommy!" Princess Ariya kept on calling her mother's name.

When Halley hurriedly appeared in front of the door frame, she was stupefied by what she saw.

The flower vase on the sideboard located between the two grand living rooms was smashed on the carpeted floor. Some of the crystals of Swarovski chandeliers on the ceiling were shattered. The cutleries, glasses, and plates inside of the buffet were completely crashed.

"What happened here?" Halley asked the panic-stricken nanny.

"Madam, I also have no idea but!" she couldn't explain well what she had witnessed. When she shifted her scared glance at the princess, she moved back a bit.

"Mommy, brother Vince is in danger!" she anxiously said as she held the hem of her mom's skirt while looking up at her.

"How do you know, he is in danger?" Halley knelt in front of her adopted daughter and cupped her face with her hands.

"Mommy, I felt it. Please, let's go and see him!" she begged as she took her mother's hand and forcibly pulled her to go out of the mansion.

"Wait for me, then. Arianna, stop pulling me!" Halley was almost dragged out of the house when Princess Ariya's strong grip carried her.

The nanny remained rooted on her spot.

"The kid is just six years old but how come she was so strong?" she asked inwardly.

"Katrina, come with us!" Halley shouted at the nanny which made the latter almost jump to her feet.

"Yes, madam!" she ran fast as she could in an instant.

Meanwhile, on the basketball court...

The game was intense. The Warriors team was in awe at the sudden improvement from the wolf pack team. Vince who was the star player gave his best shot to let his team win.

On the other hand, Scott was also in high energy to finish the game. He stared at Vince as he waited for his coming while the star player of the wolf pack was dribbling the ball.

When Vince reached the three-points shot, Scott blocked him hard as he suddenly appeared in front of him. Vince wasn't able to control his speed that he was thrown thirty steps away from his previous spot.

When he was in the air, he had no idea whether he was hallucinating or not for he saw Scott's brown eyes turned to red.

The impact of his fall was so strong that the basketball court ground cracked and he was laid down unconscious on the shiny cold floor.

"Vince!" his coach and his teammate went to his aid at once.

The crowd was rendered speechless that they stood on their seats like statues. Scott who violently pushed Vince went back to his post like a lightning. He smirked as he looked at the crowd. Nobody had ever seen it happen. His speed was incredible and his strength was really beyond words.

"How could that be?" they thought.

"How did Vince just fall on the floor by himself? Nobody had ever pushed him!"

When Halley and Princess Ariya arrived, they were late. The game was forcefully ended due to the accident. Vince was brought to the emergency room immediately. As the princess scanned the basketball court, she shivered with coldness.

It was summer, but she felt really cold. She had to hug herself tightly while Katrina was carrying her.

"I feel cold!" she whispered.

Katrina was surprised that the princess was quivering and having goosebumps.

Meanwhile, Scott who was inside of the dressing room along with his teammate smelled something unusual. He wrinkled his nose as he talked to someone on his mind.

"The treasure is here!"

His brown eyes slowly turned red and his fingernails started to grow sharp. To hide his real identity, he went to the restroom right away.

At the same time in the stream, the high priest emerged in front of Sira through a thick fog.

"High Priest!" she exclaimed in surprise.

"The son of the enemy encountered the boy today. He smelled the princess' scent. You know what to do!"

"Yes, high priest. I am prepared!" she answered as she shifted her glance at Ira who was busy training and honing her speed.

When the thick fog disappeared, she summoned her creation at once.

"From now on, you have to get closed to this boy. Go to school where he studies and protect him!" she commanded while showing Vince's face lying on the hospital bed in the water.

"Mother, is he with the princess?" Ira coldly asked.

"Yes, he is with her!" Sira gently replied.

"The enemy's son is the senior student named Scott?" she asked again.

"Yes! He is half-vampire half-human. That's why he can walk under the gaze of the sun. Beware of him. His senses are strong!"

"What are his powers?"

"His extraordinary speed and strength!"

"Okay, mother! I know what to do. I will protect the boy for Princess Ariya's sake!" Ira had promised which made Sira heave a great sigh of relief.
