Alia woke up, her head heavy, a bit dizzy and confused.

She tried to sit up on the bed, holding her throbbing head. Then she realized she was… naked?!

“Wh–What? Wh–Why am I…” she started to panic.

She looked to the side when she heard a groan beside her. There was someone next to her.

Her hands trembled as her fingers gripped the bedsheet. She pulled it up to see who it was—and to her horror, expecting it to be her husband, it was a stranger. Someone she didn’t even know.

She screamed in panic. “Ahhhh!”

Her loud scream made the man beside her sit up abruptly. “Waaah! Wh–What’s happening?!”

Alia quickly moved aside, covering her naked body with the bedsheet as the man looked around in confusion. When he realized the situation, he glared at her.

“What is wrong with you?! Why are you yelling?!” the man shouted angrily.

“Why are you angry?! I should be the one angry right now! Who are you?! Why are you in my husband’s and my bedroom?!” she yelled back.

She stood from the bed and grabbed the scattered clothes on the floor. Rushing to the bathroom, she tried to put them on—but before she could finish, she heard the bedroom door being forced open.

“Wh–Who…”

Before she could open the door, it was kicked open by Jasper—her husband.

Alia froze in panic when Jasper saw a stranger, naked, in their bed.

What husband wouldn’t think his wife had done something unforgivable in their own bedroom—naked, no less?

“Wa–Wait, Jasper, let me explain—”

Before she could even start, he slapped her.

The slap was so strong it made her fall hard to the floor.

She lost consciousness for a second. When she came to, her head was spinning. Her cheek stung and her mouth filled with the taste of blood. She spat it out and realized—one of her teeth was broken.

Alia looked up at her husband, her face pitiful and bruised.

“Jasper, please, let me explain. It’s not what you think it is. Please, listen to me, I beg you!” she pleaded.

“Shut up!” Jasper roared, his hands trembling with rage.

“But—”

Her plea was cut short by a familiar voice behind Jasper.

“Oh my! Alia! What the hell is happening here?! Why are you in bed with another man aside from your husband? What were you thinking?!”

Rhea pretended to be shocked and horrified by the scene—but deep inside, she was delighted to see Jasper slap Alia.

Rhea walked closer, reaching a hand toward her, but before Alia could take it, Rhea jerked back dramatically.

“Alia, I just wanted to help you. Why slap my hand away? Do you hate me that much?” she cried in a saddened tone.

“I–I didn’t—”

“Don’t waste your kindness on her!” Jasper shouted. “She doesn’t appreciate it! Let her act like the victim—she’s good at it!”

Alia and Rhea both flinched at Jasper’s voice. Rhea secretly smirked before speaking again, pretending to persuade him.

“Jasper, let’s listen to her first. Let’s not jump to conclusions without hearing Alia’s explanation.”

“Why should I listen to her? It’s clear she slept with another man! It’s disgusting enough that we had s*x because of her manipulations—and now she’s done it again, this time with someone else! How repulsive!”

“Ja–Jasper…” Alia’s lips trembled, her eyes welling with tears. His words stabbed deeper than any slap.

She snapped.

“So that’s what you think of me,” she said, smiling bitterly.

Now she understood why her husband had always been so distant.

Alia stood up and walked out of the room, barefoot and trembling. She ignored Jasper’s insults and Rhea’s fake sympathy.

When she reached the living room, her knees buckled, and she fell to the floor. Someone grabbed her hair roughly, jerking her head back.

Looking up, she saw Jasper’s mother—Joana—glowering at her like she was a filthy street rat.

“You filthy peasant! How dare you cheat on my son and bring your lover into this house to have s*x in his bed!” Joana screamed, shaking her head by the hair she held.

Alia was a mess, and Joana’s hits only made her look more pitiful. She was used to the older woman’s insults—but being humiliated in front of the maids still crushed her.

Jasper just stood there, watching. He didn’t even try to stop his mother.

When had he ever cared for her? Never.

“Get out!” Joana shouted. “My son will file for divorce after this scandal you caused! You’re not only an opportunist—you’re a fcking slt! You deserve to rot in hell!”

Humiliated and broken, Alia stood up and ran out of the mansion.

She ran blindly into the street, tears blurring her vision. She didn’t see the car coming.

BAM!

Her body hit the ground hard, rolling across the asphalt. Pain exploded everywhere. Blood poured from her abdomen.

“M–My… ba–baby… s–save… my… baby…” she gasped weakly, trying to call for help.

She was more than five months pregnant. Even though she and Jasper had slept together only once, it had been enough. Despite his disgust, she had endured everything—for their child. She’d hoped he would change once the baby was born.

Jasper, Joana, and Rhea—who had followed her outside—saw everything. They stood frozen in shock.

Rhea clung to Jasper, trembling in “fear” at the sight of blood.

Alia saw them hugging. Anyone who didn’t know better would think they were the married couple.

She wanted to laugh at how pathetic she must look—for still hoping Jasper cared. But she couldn’t even smile.

Jasper knew she was pregnant.

Yet he didn’t move. He didn’t run to help her.

Her vision dimmed. Her tears mixed with the blood pooling beneath her.

She was scared—terrified—but there was nothing she could do.

Before her eyes fluttered shut, she witnessed something she never expected.

“Mr. Silvercrest,” Kristina called him sweetly. “Did you come alone?”“Yes,” he answered shortly. “Why did you ask?”“Actually, Mr. Silvercrest, I personally asked my brother to send out an invitation to you.” Kristina smiled proudly. “I have guests who said you wanted to strike a deal with my grandfather. Perhaps… you’d like me to help you out?”Knight stared at Kristina, who was gazing at him with hopeful intensity.Does she really think she can help me when Caspian already told me Old Mr. Anderson rejected every attempt for a private meeting? he thought.Kristina felt her nerves spike when Knight remained silent, so she spoke again.“Mr. Silvercrest, I’m offering you help. Aren’t you going to grab the chance?”He wanted to respond bluntly—but this wasn’t the place. He did not want to embarrass Kristina in her own home, and he respected Eduardo. So he answered carefully, “You don’t have to offer help, Ms. Anderson. I’ve already spoken to your brother about it, but your grandfather d

Both Alia and Knight frowned.Alia squared her shoulders, anger rising, and replied firmly. “Madam Silvercrest, is this how you should behave in public? Saying anything negative the moment you see someone? How shameless.”Joana’s face flushed with rage. “What the f*ck did you just say?! Are you calling me unethical?!”“Correction, Madam Silvercrest,” Alia said calmly but sharply. “What you said to me earlier was misbehavior—berating me in public is rude, improper, and inappropriate, especially at a social party. Your words and actions reflect badly on yourself, not me.”Joana didn’t know what to say back to Alia. Her hands curled into tight fists, her blood boiling. She couldn’t hold herself back anymore and was about to lunge toward Alia—ready to slap the “country bumpkin’s” mouth off—when Rhea quickly grabbed her hand, stopping her.“Aunt Joana, please, calm down. Don’t get too upset over what Alia said,” Rhea whispered, trying to soothe her.Joana was a stubborn woman; not even her

“How old is that friend of yours?” Knight asked curiously.“He might be around seventy to eighty, perhaps. But despite his age, he’s wise and still sharp,” she answered.Knight nodded, picturing the old man Alia had befriended. Yet he couldn’t stop himself from thinking that the man she called a friend might have questionable intentions. The age gap between them was enormous.Seeing Knight deep in thought, Alia stared at him. Suddenly, she seemed to remember something and quickly grabbed Knight’s arm.“Mr. Silvercrest, could you please help me out? Just this once?” she pleaded.Knight snapped out of his thoughts. “Sure. What do you need me to do?” he asked.“Uhm… could you help me get in? I have an invitation card, but when I presented it to the butler, he said it was a fake, so he won’t let me in,” she explained.“Fake?” he repeated. “How could an invitation be faked? The cards are very detailed and intricate.”Alia shook her head. “I don’t have a clue either.”Knight glanced at the

Eduardo was inside his room, restlessly checking his phone to see if the girl had sent a message saying she had arrived. But there was nothing.“Where is she? She said she’d come… why isn’t she here yet?” he murmured to himself. The door creaked open. His two grandchildren—Caspian and Kristina—stepped inside and walked toward him.“Grandpa, you should go out now. You need to give a speech to start your party,” Kristina said politely.“That’s right, Grandpa. You kept saying you’d come out soon, but that was thirty minutes ago,” Caspian added.Kristina gently tugged at her grandfather’s arm. “Come on, Grandpa. It’s your birthday today. Many of the guests have already arrived, and they’re all excited to see you.”Eduardo frowned deeply. “So what? Those people only want to get close to me so they can leech off us!”Kristina flinched and stepped back in fear.“Grandpa, don’t talk like that. You know how famous you still are in the world of perfume-making. People have always been anticipati

When Knight heard Alia say that she was going to a guy’s birthday party tonight, his mood suddenly changed. He couldn’t help feeling gloomy.Philip noticed his boss’s expression darkening and felt a pang of fear. He wanted to scold Alia for what she said. Why do you have to let Mr. Silvercrest know you’re going to a man’s birthday?! Look at what you did, Ms. Morvane! he thought. But Alia was completely clueless about how Knight was feeling. With a tight frown, Knight asked, “is it really safe for you to attend his birthday tonight? Want me to come with you?”Alia shook her head. “It’s fine. He and I have known each other for years. You don’t have to worry. I won’t drink much and I’ll go home safely afterward. I won’t be staying long anyway since he isn’t the type to like parties or crowds.”This did little to ease Knight’s frown. “Call me immediately if something happens.”“Sure,” Alia said. “You worry too much about me. I’ll be fine.”“Just making sure you’re safe,” he said. “The lit

“Yes!” Alia answered.“Then I’ll be asking you out again the next time I need your help,” Knight said.Alia smiled, and the two of them continued talking for a while, completely forgetting the commotion with Rhea and Ursula earlier.Meanwhile, Rhea and Ursula headed to a café inside the mall and ordered their favorite drinks. They sat down, both still carrying irritation and frustration on their faces. After a long sip, Ursula finally snapped. “Rhea, why did you pull me out of there while I was confronting that woman? Are you really fine with being treated like that by her?”Rhea took a sip of her drink. Inside, she was fuming—she wanted nothing more than to vent all her anger at Alia, but she forced herself to hold back. She couldn’t afford to crack the elegant, gentle image she had worked hard to maintain. She exhaled slowly, calming herself, before putting on a sad expression. “I know you’re still mad about what happened. Believe me, even I wanted to confront Alia. But seeing her b
