Chapter 20

Jace's POV 

Three and half months later, 

'I miss you so much, Jenna. How is our son? I heard he's started sitting up. I can't believe he's already 6 months old. I feel like he was born yesterday and I brought you home. This is my last visit to an affected pack. After this, I'll finally be able to come home. Can't wait to hold you and Jared in my arms!'

I smiled at the message I drafted before hitting send. 

Sighing, I lifted my gaze to look out of the window. I'm in a car, heading to one of the packs I've been insistently trying to help get back up. A tornado has hit the northern regions of my kingdom. I have formed a special team to provide aid to these packs. 

I haven't gone home for the last ten days, and it feels like ten years. Jenna and I talk daily, but due to network issues sometimes, I can't get to video call them and see them. 

'This is the last pack, Jace. We'll be home after that.' Denis said in my head. 

(A while later) 

I was standing in front of the old Alpha of Shadow Night Pack. His shoulders were dropping, his eyes tired and face full of wrinkles. Yet when he saw me, the air shifted noticeably. 

"Your majesty,"

"Oh no, Alpha Nolan, do not bow to me." I grasped his shoulders to stop him from bowing to me. 

"I don't know how else to thank you, sir. You sent Luna Queen to us first to help our pack... I'm thoroughly grateful."

"I sent Luna Queen here?" I stared at him quizzically before turning to Oakley. 

He shrugged in shock and remarked on the link, 'I have no idea what he's saying.'

"Yes, Alpha King. Luna Queen came to us ten days ago, moments after the tornado hit us. She helped save so many injured people of the pack. My pack had almost died but she saved us all."

I was speechless. When the tornado hit the northern regions, Jared was a little sick. The temperature suddenly dropped and it was severely cold. He was burning with a fever. Though Jenna wanted to come with me to help the affected packs, she didn't because of Jared. 

It's from the old Alpha I'm getting to know she came here. 

"Tell me what exactly she did." I asked as the old Alpha led me further into the pack to show around. 

"When she arrived, our pack was barely surviving. The treasury was almost empty, our food stores had emptied out long before that and many families were preparing to leave. But when the tornado hit, so many of my people were displaced. We could've died of starvation had she not come, Alpha King."

"Look at that toddler there, he was barely breathing when Luna Queen came. Look at him now! He's playing around."

My smile grew wider as young children surrounded me. They tried to touch my hand and hugged my knees. 

"She even sat with our council for hours and helped us work out a plan to rebuild our farms, and then she spent time with the mothers, listening to them." My heart warmed as my smile grew. 

That is so like my Jenna. She can't see people in pain. Especially mothers, given she's a mother herself. 

She often thanks me for coming into her life. Says that her life became more beautiful because I came along. I never told her... But my life has become more beautiful than she can imagine since she came.

'We are blessed to have her.' Denis cooed in love for our mate. 

"Alpha King," I was playing with the children when some women came towards me. 

"How are you all, ladies? I heard my Luna was here. If you still need anything, you can tell me.

"Luna took care of all our needs, Alpha King. Thank you." A woman grinned in gratitude. 

"She left before we could properly thank her." Another said. 

"We know you have a gorgeous son, and that's why, Alpha King," I turned to a short woman holding out several hand knitted baby clothes. "We women have prepared this gift for her. Can you give this to her?" 

"Of course." I flashed a smile as I took the clothes from them. 

"Tell her we are really grateful to her, your highness." 

"I will."

"And I want to express that you're really a lucky man, Your Majesty. Your wife didn't come here like a Queen expecting everyone to bow to her." Other women nodded in agreement. 

Another one added, "She came like someone who genuinely wanted to save us." 

I looked down for a moment, my pride impossible to hide.

"We are glad she's our Luna Queen."

"Me too."

I left the Shadow Night Pack with my chest swelling in pride. I had a hard time stopping myself from calling Jenna and asking her why she didn't tell me about it, but I forced myself against it and just admired her picture on my wallpaper. 

When I was home, I was welcomed with a swooning kiss. My son squealed in mom's arms behind my wife and dad was ruffling his hair as he said, "My young one makes lovely noises like a cuckoo bird."

"Hey, dad, mom! When did you guys come?" I asked while squeezing my wife in my arms. 

"As soon as we heard our champ started sitting up. We couldn't miss his firsts, could we?" He gave mom a look and she nodded to second with him. 

"I've told you guys to stay. It's not like you have other children who are going to give you more grandchildren." I walked inside the castle with my wife. 

I wanted to take Jared from mom, but she held him so possessively that I couldn't. My son is getting loved by his grandparents, it's rare in today's world. Hell, children barely have loyal siblings and parents. And here my kid is getting the love of his parents and grandparents together. 

"We're considering that." Dad grinned as we stopped into the living room. 

"We'll leave you guys alone. Jace has come home after so long. You both must need some time alone." Mom said before she carried Jared away, dad followed them as he made funny faces to make our son laugh. 

As soon as we were alone, I pulled Jenna in my arms and let my body fall on the couch. She was on top of me. My arms curled around her waist as I devoured her face hungrily, needily, and like a person who needed kisses to live instead of air. 

Having her in my arms was like a walk through heaven. My wolf mewed like a kitten and calmed down in contentment. Jenna was also responding to my kisses fiercely. My Luna Queen was giving me a tough competition. 

When we ran out of air in our lungs, we parted. 

"I missed you so much, Jace!" My Luna panted as a soft rosy hue painted her cheeks. 

"Me too." I dipped my head to steal a kiss again. 

I wanted to deepen it and have another long kiss but she pushed her hands on my chest, "Wait, let me see you to my heart's content first."

I smirked at those words before grinning like a teenager. I have heard cheesy lines from girls before, but this outshined all. After all, it was coming from my wife. 

Her eyes stayed on my face for long minutes. She made my chest feel warm and tight at the same time. Seeing her makes me wonder about all the bad times she might have seen in her life growing up. While I was enjoying a prince-like treatment, my wife was struggling to make ends meet. 

I wonder what would've happened if she wasn't accidentally made to carry my child!

Even the thought of it made my stomach crawl with fear. I pulled her close and kissed her forehead. 

"Why?" I whispered in a low voice. 

"Why what?" She chuckled. 

"Why didn't you tell me about it?" 

"What?" She crawled a little over me so our faces would be at the same level. 

"You decided to save an entire pack and didn't think it was worth mentioning?" 

"That!" She caressed my face. "I only helped them a little. Nothing much."

"Nothing much!?" I raised an eyebrow. "You arranged food supplies, fixed their finances, helped their sick, and stopped families from leaving— And you think it is nothing much?"

Jenna sat up, so did I. However, I didn't let her sit on the couch. I proudly kept her in my lap as my eyes roamed all over her neck and collar-bones. I even licked the delicious hollow at her throat before looking up to hear her answer. 

"The old Alpha praised you for nearly an hour. You should've seen my face."

"Why?" She kissed my cheeks. 

"I was blushing, you know!" I chortled. "I felt so proud of you when he was talking about all you did for them. I wanted to help them first because they were the most affected. But I was going in a descending order, which meant going to them at the end."

"That's why I went there without telling you. I heard the people were leaving. Their Alpha is old and he has no heir, but that doesn't mean he should be made to feel like he didn't do anything for his people." Pause. "If they had left, he would've killed himself. That would have been a shame because an Alpha killing himself for thinking that he couldn't do much for his people after spending all his life for them is ridiculous." 

I bathed her with a look of love. This selflessness, this care and sympathy makes her different. 

"The women sent gifts for you. You'll love it." I pecked her forehead again. 

"Really? Where is it? It wasn't needed, actually. I was just doing my duties."

"And that's what made them love you so much. It makes me fall for you harder." I caught her lips in a kiss. 

We were lost in each other. The world had blurred out. Nevertheless, an intense force shoved me forward on the couch, making me drop Jenna on the floor. 

"Jace! Oh, Jace! I missed you soooooooooooo much!" I sat stock-still as two desperate arms wrapped around my neck, almost choking me in a tight hug.
