“8 PM,” Jules murmured, glancing at the wristwatch he wore before dusting the red plastic chair. Light flickered on his face as soon as he was about to sit down. At first, he thought it was from the power supply until he glimpsed the paparazzi some meters away from him. “What the hell?!” Jules's eyes glinted. He attempted to block the continuous flash of the light with his hand, but it was of no use. They went on taking shots upon shots like he had called them to do so. He groaned, shielding his face slightly. Though he was used to them showing up unannounced, he hadn't thought of it happening. He knew what would be the headline tomorrow without even guessing. Also, he believed the 'stalkers', as he liked calling them, would have taken some shots of him when he was with John on the balcony. He only hoped they hadn't seen him punching him. Even though the idiot deserved it, he didn't want a scandalous headline with his face and name as the main heading. He didn't want to be qu

Walking along the brightly coloured trimmed garden, Janice let out a deep breath. She inhaled slowly, and a smile appeared on her face. Her hair ruffled around her face as the wind blew it.The garden, which was beside the castle, was her favourite place to go whenever she felt like relaxing. Janice had often wondered why the garden was separated from the castle. The walk from the garden to the castle was fifteen minutes, and she had come by foot because she didn't want Jules to know where she had gone. She had asked him why the distance was so, but she had got no response. Rather, he had said they built that way. Even though his answer irritated her, she enjoyed the architectural design of the entire castle. “My Lady?” Janice jumped as she heard a voice beside her. She swirled, and her eyes met with the Earl of Brightstone, who had an amused smile playing on his lips. “W-what are you doing here?” Janice stuttered, squinting. “I should ask you the same thing.” Paxton grinned.

“How can I be so careless?!” Janice mumbled, whilst pacing around the room. Since her arrival back at the castle, she had been thinking of what Jules would do to her when he reached home. She had seen how furious he looked, and she wondered what punishment he was going to mete out on her. Janice shivered, clutched the robe she had slipped into around her body whilst glancing at the still-closed door. She hadn't thought Jules would ever arrive at the place she went to because he had left earlier to go hunting, and she hadn't mentioned it to him. Perhaps he arrived and didn't meet her at home. So, he had asked Grace, the only person she had told where she was going. Janice's heart fluttered as she sighted Jules from the window. He climbed from his horse and walked towards the entrance. She twisted the golden band on her ring finger out of habit and pondered on what to do to escape the brutal punishment he had promised if she ever disobeyed or made him furious. Janice knew explai

“I wonder what is going on with those two,” Janice muttered, glancing at Jules and Brightstone, who were taking a defensive stance. Both men had been on that spot for an hour now, and she wondered what they were talking about. “They are probably catching up.” Cecilia smiled. Janice nodded. However, she knew it wasn't what they were doing. She could recognize the hostility that was starting to brew up the moment Brightstone appeared. “Perhaps,” Janice said. Then glanced to her right as she noticed the dowager Queen walking towards her. Janice and Cecilia bowed to the dowager queen, who nodded in acknowledgement of their greetings. The women straightened as the dowager queen passed by, and Janice followed suit, leaving Cecilia after promising to catch up with her after the ball. “I see you are acquainted with Baron Beckwith's daughter. She is a good girl with a charming personality.” The dowager queen added. Since her arrival at the castle, Janice had glimpsed the dowager queen a

Brightstone's eyes darkened as he watched Jules and Janice, who sat a few seats away from him. He grimaced, shaking his head as the thought of punching Jules's face evaded his mind. His hands clenched into fists, then averted his gaze when Jules turned his head. He sensed Jules' eyes on him. But he didn't look back. Rather, he concentrated on the performers that were now exhibiting their abilities. Not that it scared him to stare at Jules, he didn't want to let him know he had been watching them. “My Lord.” Cecilia's sultry voice snapped him out of his thoughts. He stared at her for a long while and wondered why he wasn't interested in an unmarried woman like her. Cecilia was beautiful, but not like Janice, whose beauty was extraordinary. Janice, even without makeup on, looked like a siren. He had never thought any woman would look as perfect as that until he saw her. Brightstone thought of how Jules was able to snag her attention because he was aware he wasn't the type that w
