“You are going to finish this and then your grandpa will read you a story,” I kissed Hope’s forehead, making her finish the glass of milk and then gesturing at my father to join her. It’s been some days since she had returned to the house and was doing much better than before as well. I haven’t spoken to Silas again, we never even looked at each other’s faces. After he gave blood to her, he disappeared for an entire day. Roxanna and Tessa didn’t know anything yet, they thought Silas had somehow arranged a doctor to get blood from Desmond.I haven’t let Roxanne or Tessa come over here and see Hope for now as the doctor advised Hope to complete bed rest.As for Desmond, I haven’t informed him of her health. I wasn’t ready to see him and I feared if he got the news, he will come here and start questioning me about where did I arrange the blood from?I am sure he wouldn’t care about me l

I have only reached the park when I spotted them on a bench together, calmly looking at the river ahead of them.“I am sorry!” Silas mumbled, sounding genuinely guilty. Hope must have left the house and he had followed her to here.“No!” Hope shook her head, “You are very rude,” I bet she pouted but I couldn’t see because I could only stare at their backs.“More than your mother?” he tried to joke but Hope turned to him in anger to defend me.“My mother is not rude at all, you are the rude one,” she was very adorable. How could someone even scold her?“Okay okay! I am sorry, she is not rude. But hey, I am sorry. I shouldn’t have said those things to you,” at least he was apologizing.“Huh!” she grunted, “you didn’t even take me to dinner,” she pouted very cutely.“Tell me how do I redeem myself?” Silas inquired

The rest of the day was spent in awkwardness. Roxanne hadn’t left her room and Desmond kept taking Hope to places while leaving me behind.“Good evening! Where is the Queen?” Silas entered the house, asking the maid in the way who took his laptop bag and coat.“She hasn’t left her room since morning,” the maid answered.I was listening to them and waiting for his arrival. Desmond and Hope weren’t home; he had taken her out for dinner so I had a perfect opportunity to speak to Silas about Roxanne.“Can I--- I talk to you for a moment,” I intervened his brisk walk to his bedroom. He ceased upon his steps to stare at me in an awkward silence.“What is it about?” he questioned,  “It’s about last night,” mentioning that cursed night wasn’t hard and it wasn’t very easy for him to hear about it either because his face hardened at the recollection o

"What?" Silas asked with a hint of disgust and confusion in his voice. His response woke Roxanne up."What is going on?" she questioned rubbing her eyes and trying to look around for me."My wife has a bad character," Desmond repeated so that even Roxanne hears his claims.I could come out from behind the wall but I couldn't risk Desmond telling Hope anything. I don't even know how many lies he had told Hope today."She doesn't even care who she sleeps with," he was talking in such a manner about me that I couldn't feel anything in my body, not even my own heartbeat."She cheated on me with everyone," he continued to speak, "I had a friend who had once c----," As he kept going on and on, Silas interrupted him."That's enough. Why are you even airing out your personal matters to us?" He sounded very disappointed with Desmond, who didn't expect this response."I - - -," Desmond sounded a bit shocked. It was a shame that he was much olde

I was so shocked that I couldn’t even react. I had my mouth hung open and my eyes bugged out. I rested my palm on my face whilst Desmond took Hope to the side.“Hope!” he shook his head in disapproval but when I raised my face, I saw a smirk appearing on his lips.“See!” Tessa murmured, holding her laugh in and snickering. Roxanne seemed to be on the verge of laughing out loud.“I am ready. How much time will it take you to get re---,” Silas, who had just come out, watched us all standing like statues and frowned, “What is going on here?” He questioned, fixing his cufflinks.“Nothing! I will get ready in a few minutes,” Roxanne excused as she rushed into the room. I had big tears resting on my eyelashes as I tried to convince myself that it would all be fine.“I want to go with you guys,” Hope then watched Silas’ face with her misty eyes and he nodded to her.
