Crystina’s POV Through the night, I didn’t sleep a wink. My eyes were fixated on the door as I covered myself with my blanket out of fear that Luka will break the door and walk in to finish what he started earlier and every time I heard a movement outside my door, my ear twitched and I would sit straight, waiting for the dreaded moment to pass. This went on through the night till daybreak. I was angry, no, I was mad at Luka and mad at myself for letting him kiss me that way the other night. If I hadn’t allowed him, he wouldn’t have had the audacity to touch me like that last night. A knock resounded on my door, dragging me out of my train of thoughts. Mary walked in even before I could tell her to. “Good morning, Ms. Mary,” I greeted. She took a glance at me, shook her head, and smacked her lips. “Did you not sleep at all last night?” She asked, taking in the eye bag and the dark circles under my eyes. I’m sure I look so terrible right now. “I couldn’t sleep,” I answered. “Even

LUKA’S POV When Crystina said she didn’t want the phone and the credit card, I was angry but then, I knew I had to be patient with her if I wanted her to trust me. After last night, I realized she’s right to be scared of me or even hate me. I deserve it! I deserve every hate and anger from her. I shouldn’t have done that to her but anger clouded my senses and I found myself hurting my mate. After she ran out of my room, I followed her intending to apologize and hold her close, but as I moved closer to her door, I could smell her fear mixed with her scent. Her heart was beating rapidly and I could hear it from the door. So, I waited for a few minutes, hoping she would calm down and when I realized she didn’t, I walked away. I came back more than five times during the night. She was calm but she was still wide awake. At some point, I crumbled in front of her door as guilt ate me up. My heartache from the thoughts of hurting my mate and Maxim, my wolf wasn’t helping. The gifts I gave

Crystina’s POV “You have to kill me before I get into that car with you,” I refused. How am I supposed to explain to others when they see me alighting from a black sleek car that belonged to their Alpha? What if they find out I’m his mate? I hate the idea of riding in that car the more I thought about it. “You have to get in, Crystina. If you don’t, I’ll be forced to inform Alpha Luka about this,” “Why…” Words failed me as I stared at him in disbelief. I can’t believe I’m being forced to actually ride in his car to school. Frustrated, I sat down in the car, waiting for Derek to get in and drive me to school. It’s not like I have many choices anywhere. I’m almost late for the first class and if he gets Luka involved, I might arrive at school during lunch period. I really don’t want people to find out that I’m Luka’s mate. If they see me dropping from his car, they’ll put two and two together and find out. Alpha Luka is well loved within the pack, a lot of female wolves are in love

CRYSTINA’S POV The next time I opened my eyes, the first thing I noticed was the white ceiling and wall. It took a while for my brain to register where I was. The bed right beside me and the little tag on the door gave it away that I was at the Pack’s hospital. I was so weak that I could barely feel my body. It was as if I’d been made into a punching bag. I tried sitting up but the pressure on my right side made me stop. When I looked down, I was staring at Luka who was in turn, staring outside through the window not realizing that I was staring at him. He was holding my hand tightly, radiating an unexplainable warmth to every part of my body. My eyes went wide as I took in the scene. Unexpectedly, I withdraw my hand from his and that got his attention, I quickly sat up and looked away from him. “You’re awake? How do you feel?” He placed his large palm on my forehead and that made me look at his face involuntarily. His eyebrows were drawn together and a deep frown was plastered on

CRYSTINA’S POV Paige nudged me by my shoulder and winked. I squeezed my eyes, taking in her suspicious acts. Anytime Paige tries to act cute like that, be wary because she’s about to ask an unthinkable question or favor. “What?” I raised an eyebrow. She smiled sheepishly and that was when I confirmed she really wanted to ask me about something that she might not get the answer and my guts is telling me it would be about… “What’s going on between you and Alpha Luka?” She asked. I groaned her words confirming my suspicion. “Nothing,” I shrugged.“Really, you’re going to lie to your best friend. I know something is going on between the two of you but you don’t have to lie about it. This is a safe space,” She touched her lips. She meant not even any other person would hear about it. I trust Paige to that extent, I knew she wouldn’t tell anyone until she gets really angry. Once she’s angry, she can say anything to anyone. I shrugged again. “It’s nothing you should worry about. I’ll t
