JasperI had entered Celia’s room to get her ready for the next task but upon seeing her lounging in that hot bath, something had flared inside of me.Her innocent little frame was sitting by the edge of the small bath, and the sweet scent of the body washes and herbs along with the flickering candles that cast a soft glow on her beautiful face was mesmerizing to look at.It was hard but I had put up a stern expression and asked her to get ready soon but my little kitten did not want to listen to me. She was just as wild and untamed as I had seen her the first time. She had placed her hands on her hips and glared at me but I had seen the small peaks on her little mounds harden under the water when I had said I would drag her out myself. It was a cat and mouse game with her and I loved playing it for some reason. Her hissing and bickering amused me as much as it annoyed me.But, I had not been prepared for her to sit on my lap and start kissing me. The way her soft hands wove through m

CeliaJasper followed my gaze and it rested on the beast I was looking at from far away.“Those are prideful creatures, shadow stalkers. They are hard to tame and even harder to be allowed to ride”I looked at him and batted my eyelashes playfully, “But I believe you can tame it”Jasper raised an eyebrow. “Trying to goad me so that I enter the enclosure and get gravely injured?”I stuck out my tongue.Jasper shook his head and turned his attention to the nightsteeds. “There is a fine line between bravery and foolery. While I do not doubt that I can tame that beast for I was the one to bring it here, I will not take the bait simply to boost my ego and prove it to you”I shrugged, “Well, at least I tried”He winked, “Vampires are proud creatures too. Ivan might do something stupid if you hurt his ego enough. That would get you out of a tricky situation, remember that”“He would not know the difference between bravery and foolery?”Jasper opened the gate to the enclosure as a few servan

JasperI left Celia in the hands of the two sisters as I stepped out of the door. I had ensured that the two women kept her busy for hours while I left for my next mission.Reaching for my coat pocket, I pulled out the small purse in which I had plucked a few small ropes of the nightshade plant. After ensuring that it was still safe, I looked around once before entering the forest. It had been a rather long cut and was not my usual route but I did not want to take any chances.I looked up at the sky. There was no moon today. It was perfect and I did not wish to risk going inside the forest from the palace grounds. The last time Borivin had almost been just a short distance away from figuring out what I was doing. And I did not wish to tempt my fate. Thus slowly but carefully, I made my way through the forest, my heightened senses allowing me to navigate easily in the darkness. As I drew closer to an abandoned cave, I could feel a sense of unease building within me.I pulled out the pa

Jasper I let out an irritated breath, took the small vial from her, and safely tucked it in my pockets. Keltia came with me to the door to see me out and stuck her staff in one of the walls. Though I believed it was less about being courteous to her guest and more about not wanting me to wander into her territory unsupervised. But it did not matter as I did not plan to invade her space as of now. If things went downhill in the future and I was desperate to receive the ink, maybe I would do that. For now, I just wanted to get back to Celia. The door opened and I stepped out of it and was greeted by the cold night again. The fresh air of the forest felt nice and I took lungfuls of it after being enclosed in that dimly lit cave for a long time. The way Keltia had spoken about the favor and the payment for next time was something that bothered me but I pushed that worry to the back of my mind. I reminded myself that I had to return to Celia and take her back to the palace. The Vampire

CeliaThe next day I was woken pretty early by Grace to get ready for our drive to the Vampire ball. I was too anxious to eat and only forced down half a piece of bread down my throat when Grace would not stop pestering me about it.I somehow gulped the tea to calm my nerves and let Grace do my hair and choose a dress for me. She pulled out a simple and elegant pink colored gown for the travel.“How is this one, my lady?” She enquired as she held the dress up for me to examine. I only waved my hand away and mumbled, “Whatever”She braided my hair and packed a few essential belongings before reminding me a dozen times how to apply make up.That was yet another small but important lesson Jasper had asked her to give me. There would be no maids around me to help in the Vampire castle so I would be pretty much on my own.She had detailed and given me a make up tutorial detailing what type of make up to put on what type of occasion, what shades go best with what types of dress colors etc
