70 Years Passed When I Woke Up! Novels & Stories

I dare say that all is well, except for one thing . I'm yawning audibly as I place the diary back to my suitcase. I better sleep now that I'm sleepy, for I don't know how long it's going to last. I don't even bother to check the time as I'm already hugging the pillow and slowly drift into drowsiness. About three hours later or so, I wake up abruptly from a horrible nightmare. It was the accident scene from when I was seven. The blood, the shredded pieces of glass and the fire outbreak. It makes my heart pound fast as I sit comfortably against the headboard of the bed.

He'd been gone for seven whole years! After the accident, I'd been unconscious for three months. When I woke up, I was told he was dead. But now, he'd suddenly appeared. I tightened my grip on my clutch, my nails digging into my palm. Soon, the car pulled up outside my apartment. I hurried in and pulled out a bottle of vodka from the cabinet. The burn of the alcohol sliding down my throat finally made the situation feel real to me. I lifted my head and looked at the gaunt figure by the door.

I checked the time and it was 1:00am, I hissed thinking I had closed my eyes for too long. **** I didn't know when I slept off, but what made me wake up was the knock I heard from the door. "Oooh, ohh" I screamed as I woke up, I never knew when I slept off, I only remembered closing my eyes, I checked the time and it was 7:00am, this wasn't my first time traveling, but I couldn't contain the joy of traveling to stay away from Nathan, even though my parents never knew the reason I insisted on traveling but they knew I have been willing to.

Flashback*** Six years ago I opened my eyes a little due to the annoying ring of my alarm clock, I sat up on my uncomfortable bed and checked the time, my eyes opened wide when I saw 7:00am, I must have accidentally set it to 7am instead of 6am, I have to be in school before 8 and the witch won't let me leave without doing the house chores.

--- I don't know what time I fell asleep. I know that I went to bed at eleven and lay in the dark and thought, for a while, about all of it — the trust, the challenge, the appointment in four weeks, the eleven years before any of it. I thought about my father and what he didn't know in time and what I had spent two decades trying to control in response. And then I thought about a hand over mine on a kitchen counter. You don't have to anymore. I woke at seven. Not five forty-seven. Not six. Seven — which had not happened on a morning without illness or travel in eleven years.

I FELT BETTER WHEN I OPENED MY EYES THIS TIME, my body didn't hurt that much. My headache was there, but lighter than before. And my ribs didn't seem to be broken anymore. "Are you awake, child?" It was Hov. Slowly, I opened my eyes. "Yes. How long was I asleep?" "Only five days, don't worry," Gods above. "ONLY?" I joked and he giggled. "30 days in the total. Now I have 23 months, great!"

After long hours of sleep, Olivia finally woke up at eight in the morning and went down. She walked into the kitchen and saw everyone munching on their breakfast on the chair in front of the table. This sight almost made her smile, but it didn’t last long because she suddenly had a flashback to her life four years ago.

I felt relieved, knowing that I had someone by my side who truly cared. When I finally woke up, the sun was already high in the sky, indicating that it was already noon. Richard was nowhere to be seen, and it seemed he had woken up before me. I couldn't recall the last time I had slept in so late. Feeling parched from all the crying, I made my way to the kitchen, hoping to grab something to drink.

I wake up the next morning, shocked that I slept so well. It’s been a long time since I haven’t woken up listening for someone to bang on my door in the middle of the night or try to break in to get us. At first when I wake, I’m completely disoriented. It takes me a moment to remember everything that happened yesterday. Has it really only been one day? I can’t believe that less than 24 hours ago, I was putting Meadow and Tate on a bus. It feels like I lived a week in the last day.

A minute later, I was fast asleep in a dark dreamless sleep. *** “Harper, sweetness. The time has come to wake up, baby. I gave you an extra thirty minutes of rest. I thought you needed it.” Groaning, I work to pry my eyes open. I squinted with one eye as the other stayed closed and squished my nose in disapproval of being woken up. There’s no way an hour, and a half had passed. “What time is it?” I asked, yawning and stretching out my arm. “It’s after one.”
