" I stared at the screen, my breath catching in my throat. The man in the photos was unmistakable. It was my husband, Charles Basset. But the woman standing beside him, the bride—she wasn't me. She was a stranger. A woman I had never seen before, but her face bore a striking resemblance to Henry. My heart raced as I looked closer. The dates on the photos… most of them were taken after Charles and I had already been together. The revelation hit me like a punch to the gut. Was Henry really Charles's illegitimate son?

Bastien looks at me, "what's up?" I pull on one of his button up shirts and a smirk forms on his face as he watches me, "a few old friends are here, the ones that I spoke about earlier, I'm not thrilled they're here." He nods, "well I'll get rid of them if you like," he winks at me, "I hear I've been described as, broody, anti-social and quite scary," he shrugs. I put my hand over my mouth to stifle my giggle, "not you Alpha Bastien," I shake my head, "I can't believe anyone would ever think those things," I roll my eyes at him.

He put his face close to mine, his breath hot against my skin. "I’ll kill him," Bastien whispered. "Whoever he is, I’ll tear his throat out. You are the Luna of this pack. You are my mate. I don't care what anyone says." "You're crazy," I sobbed, the frustration and pain finally breaking through. "You're insane, Bastien! Let go!"

The big blonde guy with braids growls and snarls at us. “Who are you?” Bastian stares them down. They just glare. Growling like trapped dogs. “What’s your name?” I ask the big, blonde guy. I squat down, trying to not look threatening. “I have nothing to say to you, outsider.” He snarls. “Outsider?” I arch a brow to Bastian. “Obviously he’s a Nomad.” Bastian squats down. “We won’t hurt you. Tell us your name.” “Tay Masters Leader of the Gildon pack.” He squints his eyes at both of us.

Renee did not understand why Bastian was acting this way. He should have been happy. Their parents had given their blessing. He was free from detention without having to go through a trial. Bastian had been given a better chance at life. So why was he acting like this? “Or maybe you want to eat at home? We could order delivery. Watch a movie or TV together,” Renee said cheerfully, trying to cover her disappointment. Bastian did not respond right away. His phone vibrated in his hand. He quickly read the message. It was from the owner of the underground fighting arena.

It’s none of my business why a vampire would be chilling out with a pack of wolves. But let me ask you, what’s his name because he sure and the hell sucked at introductions.” “Lasci, for short,” Bastian responded, watching Fahla throw herself to the ground and laugh with her paws in the air.
