“Will you stay?” he held her arm, begging silently with his eyes. Those green eyes that reflected the light of the forest were dim now like the autumn leaves after the first frost. She obeyed, giving in. Perhaps in some other lifetime, she would’ve refused him, screamed at him, asking to face his battles alone, but somehow in this one, she couldn’t. Despite the war between her mind and heart, she wanted to follow him. She wanted to follow him like Patroclus followed Achilles to Troy, and everyone knows how that story ended.
