TWO DIFFERENT WORLDS
He looked so young, so out of place here, in this hellish prison we found ourselves trapped in.
I wiped at my face, my hands shaky. “I’m fine,” I said, though my voice didn’t sound convincing, even to me. I pulled my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them, trying to make myself smaller, to disappear from the nightmare that had become my life.
“You were crying in your sleep again,” Adam said softly. He reached out, his fingers brushing a strand of hair away from my face. “I didn’t know how to wake you up without scaring you more.”
