I asked, my voice hesitant. Sienna blinked, clearly struggling to process the fact that I was alive. “You’re alive,” she said finally, as if saying it aloud made it real. “I… I don’t understand. I thought… I thought you were dead. Everyone did. Your family, the government… even the funeral…” She shook her head. “They held a full funeral for you. I—” I felt my chest tighten. “I survived… that’s all. I—” She held up a hand, cutting me off. “Wait. No. I need to understand first. How… how are you alive?” Her voice wavered, and she leaned slightly against the counter, the orange forgotten in her hands.

The air smelled like medicine. I moved my dry lips. “Am I… alive?” A voice came from the shadows. “You are alive. But you are not Emily Hart anymore.”

Dad’s voice grounds me back to reality. “You–you are not real.” I hiss, narrowing my eyes at him. “You were dead.” “I’m as real as you are. No need to doubt it,” He says, his stoic face bringing back memories of childhood. “Then how the fuck are you here?! You were dead! Or did someone dig your grave and revive you?” I spat, worried that my assumption might be true. With how things have been, Rena finding out her supposed dead mother is alive, Nixie and Theon alive, anything can be possible. People are just dying and coming back to life, making a joke out of death.

However twisted the universe is, it listened to my prayer. I lift my tear-filled eyes to my mother. She’s standing right in front of me. Alive. Breathing. Beautiful, just as she’s always been. And if today is really March 13th, 2020, then that means dad is alive too. My heart cracks open. Without thinking, I rush forward and wrap my arms tightly around her. “Mom,” I choke out. “Thank God. Thank God you’re alive.” She stiffens for a moment, then laughs softly, hugging me back and patting my back. “Of course I am. Seems you had a really bad nightmare.”

I admitted, speaking softly against the noise outside. "What about the Alpha King?" Amaris whispered to me, a concerned look on her face as she stretched a bowl of soup towards me, prodding me to collect it. Letting out soft sigh, I accepted it from her as cradled it in my hands. "Do you think he's still alive?" She asked, her voice pensive. "I honestly do not know." I admitted, staring at steam swirling above the bowl. "If he was still alive, I would feel it. The bond would tell me. But I don't think he's dead either, because the connection I have with him isn't yet lost."

Within seconds all pain is gone and my body is fully healed. “Isn’t this the afterlife? And aren’t I dead? I don’t see how I don’t belong here then” “Yes, this is the afterlife but technically you are not entirely dead” she tells me. “What do you mean that I am technically not dead? How can someone be technically not dead? It is either you are or you are not” I start pacing while panicking, if she tells me that I went through all that pain for nothing I will honestly lose it.

She said. "Mom you are confusing me, first you said that I need to be alive in my world to be here and now you are saying that I am dead? What is it? Am I gonna be able to go.baco or not?" I asked her. "Son I don't know... Come, there is someone we can talk to, someone who can tell us what is happening to you." She said. "Okay... I said and I followed her to wherever it was that she was taking me. I don't know what happened but one thing I know is that I am dead, that someone actually killed and that is why I am here.

My heart is beating so fast that I can hear its thumping in my ears. Oh, how good it is to be alive. But then again, what is death? It’s a void, a nothingness, the absence of everything.
