My job is done and I head back to my duties. Harrison’s POV I open the laundry closet door and see a man holding an unconscious girl in his arms. “Are you okay?” I ask. “Who are you?” The man says coldly. “I’m Harrison. I’m going to get you out.” He nods at me. “Are you okay carrying her?” I ask, he looks pretty beat up himself. He just nods at me. “Come on.” I lead them outside and into the woods.

Our footsteps echoed loudly in the cavernous space, raising dust that had stayed untouched for decades and revealing glimpses of the machinery that had once built the radios. Amon's shadows spread ahead of us, probing the darkness for threats. Behind me, I could hear Whitney's uneven breathing as she struggled to keep pace with her injured leg and Fabian's almost silent movements, honed from years of vampire training. Handler Harriet moved with military precision, her weapon ready and her posture suggesting she'd done this too many times to be nervous anymore.

"Anyone taken?" I shook my head. "All dead." "Do you have any weapons on you?" "No." He ran his curious eyes over me again and nodded. He picked up his his hand held radio. "Hawkeye Bravo, this is Alpha One." "Alpha One, Hawkeye Bravo receiving. Go Ahead."

James said. I nodded and got back into my hunter or assassin mode. I told him it was seven or ten kilometers away, but we could definitely handle it just by swinging tree by tree, but sometimes we go on feet and run. And just our luck, we saw an old-looking warehouse. I can already feel the aura of werewolves, specifically rogues. And some even vampires, but I can tell they are weak. James and I exchanged looks and nodded, giving a secret message that we should remain quiet instead of ambushing them. They're a little alert, but only a few of them are. Some have their guard lowered, not expecting Xavier the black death to come out of nowhere.

"Thank you, Vorlyk. May the goddess watch over you and yours." Amy severed her mental connection and peered back down at her bloody hands, the metallic smell making her nauseous even though she usually loved the scent. She walked back inside and immediately saw the evidence of Jackson's death. His body and that of his brother were in bits and pieces. Low growls rumbled from the throats of several wolves who had shifted. Blood covered their muzzles.

She was alive. I moved out of the pack to see if I could pick out the scent. The rain poured heavily over the abandoned warehouse at the edge of the forest where I picked her scent. Thunder cracked across the sky as I shifted back to my human form. The scent of blood hit me instantly. My mate was here. I saw my beta and the warriors beside me. I signal to them that I will go a alone “ Alpha you can't go alone, we are coming with you” he tried to stop me

Hunter: The road in was long and dumb quiet, the kind of quiet that tells you everything worth knowing has gone to ground. I kept the bike under the trees and moved on foot, boots chewing at the moss. Xavier’s words looped in my head: Find her before he does. Short, sharp, no room for mistakes. “Beta, are you sure that coming here is the right option?” One of the gammas, Brian, asked. “Are you going to question the Alpha, Brian?” I asked, and he shook his head.

The kind of certainty that either comes from years of experience or from knowing exactly how much ammunition the other side is holding. “Of course,” I said. She nodded once and walked back toward the sitting room. Damien appeared from the kitchen corridor with a coffee cup, watching her go with careful eyes. “She was on the phone before Harrison,” he said quietly. “Before his team even called him.” He glanced at me sideways. “Figured you should know.” I stored that information away without saying a word back. Harrison came out of his study at half past nine. He looked like a man who had been putting out fires since before sunrise, completely in control on the surface but running on something
