I responded. Anastasia closed the gap between us, her eyes stern. "Aren't you, Golem?" she said, her voice laced with frustration. "Go ahead and tell me. You forgot about my name!!! Who would ever believe that," she yelled. Taking a deep breath, she continued, "Or maybe it's just me overreacting. You probably hit your head somewhere while flying and suffered from amnesia, am I right?" She held me gently by the chin, examining my face. Suddenly, her eyes turned red with flames, and I could feel the heat of the fire burning within her as she demanded, "Whose lipstick is this, Golem? Don't tell me your dead mom kissed you now."

With relish, she made her catwalk like a professional, and everyone were whispering approvingly among themselves. Nobody knew how affected she was. Nobody knew that her heart was beating out of rhythm. Nobody knew that the mere sight of that man brought such anguish to her. Because she was after all Anastasia Forrester, the ice princess playing her character so well that she was fooling the entire world. Except herself.

At this moment, Daniella knew she was in trouble. She had to do anything possible to make Desmond stand by her. "Are you believing this actress?" Daniella asked Desmond. "Anabel must have hired her to pretend to be Zacklid's group assistant manager. You don't have to panic. They are not real." "Are you saying that she's an imposter?" Desmond asked. "Yes. She must be an imposter." "How dare you call me an imposter?" Miss Margaret asked.

I could see she was panicking and pressed her further, "Are you looking down on us because we're poor and unworthy of your luxurious villa? Or is it because the purchase contract isn't really yours, so you're too scared to invite us over?" I fired off several pointed questions in a row. Even the colleagues who had surrounded Grace started to waver a little. Grace probably never imagined that she would be boasting in front of the actual owner on her first day at the company. Just when I thought Grace's false facade was about to crumble, Lisa, the department manager entered the office. The moment she saw Grace, she warmly took her by the arm, as if they were sisters.

“Why all the questions?” Why? I gave a small, humorless laugh. If anything, his expression was more… resigned. As if he’d been waiting for this moment. “I found her,” I continued, voice calm and deliberate.. “But before I could make her pay, I wanted to know the complete story.”

She knew. Anastasia closed her book carefully. Deliberately. Like she was giving herself time to become real after existing as a ghost for so long. She wore simple clothes. A dark sweater. Jeans. Her hair pulled back. She looked nothing like a crime boss. She looked like someone's mother. "You figured it out," Anastasia said. Her voice was exactly as Lena remembered it, though she'd only heard it in the vault of her subconscious. "You refused the trap. You came anyway."

Never had I thought Haley would lay a hand on me! Caught off guard, I stumbled and fell. My cheek was burning red and swollen. I was utterly humiliated. "How dare you hit me?" I growled.
