Anthony Bourdain's Favorite Books Novels & Stories

He motioned toward my half-eaten steak. I laughed. "So, would you like to watch television while you wait?" Hs shook his head. "No, thanks. Never liked it much." "Neither do I," I agreed. "Actually, I prefer a good book over just about anything." Or a good man, but that's beside the point. I hadn't had one of those in a while, either. He sat back, casually crossing his legs. "Really? Me, too. Who are your favorite authors?"

“I mean you as a homebody, not as my boss or anything like that.” It might be an exaggeration to say that Ingrid felt that day was very serene. She was a homebody herself when it came to it, always staying home when she didn’t have work, but it was a different feeling when she was with a man, and they were just relaxing. And his house... God, it felt like home already. “What kind of books do you read?” she asked interestedly. “Stephen King, Dan Brown, Clive Cussler, John Grisham, and the like.”

I could do that. Next stop was a bookstore I'd passed a few times. Olivia had mentioned once that she loved cookbooks, not just for the recipes but for the stories behind them, the photographs, the way they captured culture and tradition. The bookstore owner, a young man with rectangular glasses and an impressive beard, was stocking shelves when I entered. "Help you find something?" he asked. "Cookbooks," I said. "Something special. Not just recipes, but... stories. Culture. Something with meaning."

"I found this at home and I think Antonio would have wanted you to have this. It is his personal recipe. I know how much you loved his cooking and I wanted you to have a part of him always." Lilian looked at the book. She looked at Anna's face. It was sad but she was smiling weakly. "I can't possibly..." "Please take it. He would have wanted it." Lilian took the book from Anna and thanked her. Anna left and Lilian was alone at home. She paged through the book and all of the wonderful meals that Antonio had cooked came to her head and she could feel them on her palate. She got to the recipe for his spaghetti bolognese and as she stroked the page, she smiled as she remembered how she and Damia

Ha! He wanted to steal his woman! “If you insist,” replied Anthony. “If you genuinely want the best for my Charmine, then by all means! You’ll make lunch for her today. I’ll write to you about her favorite dishes. You should also think of what other dishes you can make to ease her pain,” he added as he took up a pen and paper to start listing down the dishes. Beef Wellington, Consomme, Turducken… Each dish was extremely intricate and were all incredibly challenging to make.

“Sheesh. You nannies always get so territorial.” “It’s in our job description, but seriously, what’s Jonathan’s favorite meal?” The line goes silent for a second. “Jonathan’s favorite meal? Why do you want to know that? Are you trying to seduce him or something?” “Speaker! You’re on speaker, and little ones are in the car.” “Oops. My bad.” “And for your information, it’s just a thank you dinner to show him I appreciate everything he’s done for me.” “Right,” Anthony drawled, not believing a single word out of my mouth. “Jonathan enjoys a good, juicy steak with all the fixings.”

She was more surprised to see a book in his hands, knowing Anthony wasn't much of a reader. "You're up," he stood up quickly. "I... I made chicken Alfredo with extra mushrooms. Tamara mentioned it was your favourite but if you want something else we could always order anything from take-out. I know you love Chinese. I could go pick that u-" Anthony didn't know why he felt so anxious. Rosie cut off his rambling. "Did you say extra mushrooms?" Rosie tilted her head, a grin playing on her lips. Anthony exhaled deeply, his shoulders relaxing. He smiled, "I did."

I still didn't know Arthur well, and there were many things I wanted to know, among them, was the reason why I had never seen his mother, which was my biggest curiosity. 一 I'll start 一 He said 一 What's your favorite color? 一 I don't have a favorite color, but I prefer white and black, how about you? 一 Navy Blue 一 Answered 一 Now it's my turn, what's your favorite dish? 一 I asked 一 Macaroni with white sauce, and yours? 一 Lasagna has always been and always will be my favorite. 一 I knew it, just the way you look when you see one is to be expected 一 He laughed.

"Prepare in advance! You know, stuff like French roasted lamb, Turkish barbecue, Shanghai hairy crab, Wellington steak... You must have them ready." As Ben silently took notes, he couldn't help but marvel at how much of a gourmet this big shot was. After a while, he suddenly felt something was off. "Diana, these dishes, they all seem to be your favorites." Diana replied, "Well, yes, it just so happens that this big shot has the same taste as me. What a coincidence!" Ben had a feeling that something was amiss but decided to let it slide. "Why does it feel strange..." Ben obediently took note.

"Yes, I'm just going through some stuff being accumulated by the guys'' He said as he doodled something down on the book in front of him. This man has been sitting in here all day and surely hasn't moved, I could tell by the empty plate of whatever he had for breakfast left to the side. It was way past noon almost getting dark...did he have anything for lunch? Nodding my head, I left the room without saying anything and headed to the kitchen. I looked around in the fridge for whatever quick dish I could easily make out of the ingredients I saw, grabbing them out of the fridge and placing them on the counter. Chicken Dijon it is. Although I never cooked much in my father's house, I still reme
