Didn’t even seem aware of pain. He moved like a force of nature—cold, efficient, unstoppable. A warrior lunged at him— Darin caught him mid-air. Snapped his neck. Dropped him like he was nothing. Aria’s stomach twisted violently. “This isn’t possession,” she whispered. Because she had seen possession before. Malrik’s corruption had twisted minds, fueled rage, burned through souls like wildfire. But this— This was something else entirely. There was no rage. No emotion. No humanity.

Their eyes burned with pale blue fire, and their voices were like the wind over forgotten graves. Shades. Not ghosts. Not beasts. Something older. Something worse. They whispered. Not words, but memories—Aria’s mother’s voice, Xander’s laugh, the smell of moonroot in bloom. Each memory twisted in their mouths, half-true, distorted, unraveling the self from within. Aria stood tall. She raised her hands, runes flaring. “You will not have her. You will not have us.” But her voice trembled. She could feel the edges of herself slipping. Her purpose. Her name. You will be cursed to repeat your miserable life while the other parts of your soul die in great misfortune unable to find happiness both in life and death.’’ The dread coming from these words was enough to make me forget the horrible pain. This sounded so familiar but, at the same time, so strange. I didn’t have time to think, though. The pain slowly disappeared together with the lighting, and somebody’s voice was floating in my mind.

Lisa said closing the door before Aria could reply. Alone in the room, Aria took a deep breath, contemplating the advice Lisa had given her. She rose from the bed, deciding to heed the suggestion of a walk to clear her mind. As she wandered through the familiar corridors of Angelo's house, memories both bitter and sweet accompanied her every step. The door creaked open, and Aria stepped outside, greeted by the cool breeze. The night sky stretched above her, a canvas of stars that seemed to hold secrets of their own.

I also made an effort to listen to Madeline’s thoughts, putting myself in her shoes and trying to understand her perspective.
