“You my little fire dragon, are once again very insightful.” She turns, smiling at me, pleased with my praise but obviously confused. “What did I do?” “Maybe Avani set up the war games wrong,” I say. I watch Keya whose eyes go wide. “We need teams.” “Teams?” Elio asks. “At least one person with each element. The dragons will never allow their riders to be on a team without them, so Elio and I would be on a team with, say, Ajax, who has the earth element, Kaylani with the water element, and well, I think air is mostly out. None of Cal and Eliane’s young are old enough to fight yet, leaving only Cal and Ishir to wield the air element.” Keya says.

His eyes were completely yellow showing that Diego had come forward. “Would you guys listen, If I stay here the Dragon Emperor will track me here and it will put the babies in more danger. I can't let that happen, I don't plan on letting the Dragon Emperor catch me, but I can't just sit here knowing he is out there looking for me.” Lynn said, looking at Montego who was still growling. “Lynn, you will not put yourself in danger and no other man will touch what is mine.” Montego growled out slowly.

It was unmistakably a nest. She had read about them in the old stories—whispered tales passed between girls too curious for their own good. Dragon males, they said, built nests not out of instinct alone, but out of intention. They were sacred places, prepared only for mates. Not temporary lovers. Not playthings. Mates. The kind dragons would kill to keep. It wasn’t just where they bred. It was where they bonded. Where they brought what they claimed. Where they surrendered the part of themselves even war could not scorch: softness.

The next morning, we plan to talk to Cal about his DNA, but before we have a chance to do that, another one of the dragons shifts. Because these first shifts are so painful for the dragons, we all go outside to be with them. This time, it’s Kenzo, one of our earth dragons. He, Ajax, and Ancalagon have become close friends. So, I’m not surprised to see Ajax on one side of Kenzo and Ancalagon on the other. Ancalagon is crooning encouragement while Ajax is telling him to breathe through the pain.

Renee’s face turned pale, filled with horror. “That’s an Azure Naga! It possesses the bloodline of a dragon! Be careful!” This warning left Adrian momentarily stunned, but then a wave of killing intent emanated from him. The air vibrated with a terrifying power that seemed capable of obliterating everything. The entire sky and earth quaked under its force. Boom, boom, boom! The ground-shaking tremors grew louder as the massive Azure Naga surged forward. Its aura pulsed intensely, making it look all the more frightening. The beast’s enormous body and sweeping tail lashed out like a thunderstorm.

"But this will be the end, Elijah. I will have avenged my family and can move forward with my plans. A deep roar echoed around them. Sophia’s mouth dropped when she saw an enormous dragon, made of lightning, emerge from the clouds and position itself next to Jackson. Its size was unimaginable; the younger Anderson was a speck compared to it. The blue lightning of its form cracked dangerously. Sophia cursed as she lifted herself up, trying to run for Elijah. "Die!" he shouted as he directed the dragon towards Elijah.

It's perfect for me because even with his larger build and greater strength, I'm a worthy opponent in human form. Drakon heads to the center of the room with his back to the egg. I want him as far away from Pepper's son as possible. Drakon's silver eyes give away his intent a second before he charges in low. I leap over him and turn. My foot is up and I land a solid kick to his back which sends him toward Pepper.

Her hands were clenched at her sides, her dark red nails trembling faintly as she fought to contain her anger. Opposite her, Dragon leaned casually against an antique wooden desk, his cold gray eyes gleaming with cunning. He wore a black shirt with the top buttons undone, revealing a glimpse of his tattooed chest, and dark trousers complemented by a leather belt with a gleaming silver buckle. His silver watch caught the faint light, and his tousled black hair gave him an air of unrestrained danger. "Enough, Dragon!" Jenny exclaimed, her voice choked as her luminous eyes radiated fury. "Can't you stop your ridiculous games for just one moment?!"

"What do you mean by No?" Nyra asked with anger. Drake can pull her easily out of the pit. He is an orange dragon. His human strength will also be much higher than any other beings out there. He can easily kill a werewolf, Vampire, or any others in his human form. Pulling her from that pit is a child's play for him. But she doesn't know that. Her interaction with Dragons is Nill, so she doesn't know about their abilities and strength.
