Not for a weak thing like me, in a pack like Snow Pointe. "Take a deep breath for me, Aurelia," the pack doctor instructed, her fingers pressed against the vein in my arm as she pricked me with a needle. A bead of dark, purple blood dripped from my arm, and she quickly wiped it away. I didn't flinch. Years of needles in arms, blood draws, IV fluid bags, have left my arms dark with bruises and old scars. Ever since I was a child, I'd dealt with the pain of these special treatments from Dr. Andromeda.

"I'll be as quick as I can." I watched as she tied a rubber band around my arm, searching for a vein. The prick of the needle was sharp, but brief, and I barely felt it as she drew a vial of blood. She then pressed a small piece of gauze to the puncture site and taped it down. "All done," she said with a smile. "The results will take a little longer, but we'll get them as soon as possible." I nodded, trying to muster a smile in return. "Thank you."

The doctor advised the nurses to apply a Repril gel for the pain and inflammation and bandage the area. Jacob and Sarah arrived home. Jacob was still in pain. He ate and took to Mybulen tablets and relaxed in the lounge. Sarah told Alex to be careful around his father. That night Jacob went to sleep. He was still in pain but did not want to worry Sarah. He woke up at 4am. His arm was throbbing and beating under the bandage. He removed the bandage and his arm was swelling rapidly. "SARAH!"

Jane was still trying to process what had just happened, but the uneven movement from Dravyn made her brain think faster. She rushed to Dravyn. His face was flushed red, his eyes had turned bloodshot, and he firmly held onto his other arm, which was shaking terribly. "Dravyn, are you okay?" she asked, checking him over. He could only shake his head while he gathered air in his closed mouth, making his cheeks puff out. "Get me the first aid kit, now!" she yelled, helping him walk to a chair close by. As Dravyn sat down, Jane gently helped him roll up his sleeve; thankfully, it was oversized. And then she saw his arm. It was swollen, far more than what the drilling machine could have caused.

Shawn asked. Natalie's body shook violently. Yes, more than right. He was on point! Before she could think of excuses, Shawn grabbed her wrist and rolled up his sleeves. "Ah! What are you doing!" Natalie panicked and wanted to withdraw her hand as she did not want to show her arm! However, it was useless, and she was one step too late. Natalie's arm was densely covered with needles. It looked terrible. This was how many times Natalie's blood was drawn!

I then watched as she tied a tube like item tightly around my upper arm and cleansed an area of my arm with a cotton wool which was soaked in methylated spirit. When the needle pierced through my skin and into my vein, my eyes were closed very tightly and I held my breath in trepidation. As soon as the needle had pierced through my skin, I opened my eyes just in time to watch as the blood was drawn from my arm and with a sigh of relief, I allowed her untie the tube thingy from around my arm and I collected a freshly new spirit soaked cotton wool and pressed it down and hard on the tiny hole on my arm from which blood dripped in beads.

My mother asked her while she grabbed my left arm. “I don’t know yet, but I dearly hope it is not what we are all thinking.” She replied while she briskly took her scalpel and then she dug it into my arm, drawing a fine line. I grunted as blood seeped out into the bowl gently. We all watched in awe as the blood kept pouring out. It wasn’t due to the sight of blood but because the injury itself had yet to heal up.

I gestured for Renald to put pressure on the swab by himself while I put the blood on a bigger tube I prepared before. Once done, I closed the syringe and threw it in the bin. Raising my hand to the light, I observed the blood I had just drawn. It looked… normal. So, that was what I wrote in my journal.

After the cheek swab, he labels, seals and place them all in an ice-packed case. “I’ll have results in about a week,” he says before disappearing the same way he came in. I look around the room. “So… now what?”

Adrian asked with a smile. Summer panicked and looked nervously at Adrian. “My baby…” “Your baby is fine, but you aren’t exactly in good health. You’ll have to take care of yourself to make sure that your baby remains safe.” Adrian raised his head to look at the transfusion bottle, and then at the transfusion needle that was attached to Summer’s wrist. “The needle has moved out of place. Aren’t you feeling any pain?” Summer was not aware of that. She looked at the back of her hand, which was already swollen, with glassy eyes.
