I might not have a choice but live and survive with it. “Are you two done?” I asked them, it’s getting dark and we need to be out of the secret library before dawn. “I am, if he is,” I looked at Riven, he didn’t say a word, just shrugged his shoulders. “Okay lets do this,” I stood between them and held their hands. I closed my eyes, and inhaled deeply. My eyes opened slowly, I exhaled, and said the words. “Invisque.” The moment I said the word, “Invisque,” a soft wind blew around us. It circled like a quiet storm, brushing against our skin. Riven’s grip on my hand tightened, and Maria held her breath.

"DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH MY DAUGHTER!" Arthur's grin was the last thing visible before the screen went dark.

But I shouldn't have. Arthur had his back to me, his back muscles flexing, as he pulled the hoodie over his head. There was a tattoo, little ones scattered to form a shape that I couldn't label. But it was beautiful. He slipped on a white sleeveless shirt from the wardrobe, and I should have turned my eyes then, but I didn't, and his eyes met me. He scoffed. “I should be scared of you.” “Why?” My voice had to come low. “Hear yourself.”

Arthur Pov: The night was thick with silence. Not the peaceful kind. The kind that sat heavy on your chest, the kind that made every snapped twig beneath your boot feel like a gunshot. Arthur moved through the dense forest with four of his most trusted warriors, Sermon, Tia, killian and Petra all shifted back to human form the moment they crossed the first invisible boundary marker carved into the old oak tree at the western edge of Shadow Fang territory. No wolf. Not yet.

I felt a presence to my left and turned to see Arthur pushing a large rolling trash bin down the hall. He didn’t stop. He didn’t say a word. But as he passed, he caught my eye and gave me a slow, deliberate wink, his lips twitching into a smirk before he turned the corner. I leaned back against the doorframe, a genuine laugh bubbling up in my chest. I still had a divorce to finish, and I still had a mortgage to pay, but as I adjusted my “pathetic” low-rise top, I realized I wasn’t invisible. Not even close.

Vivian whispered, her breath ghosting in the chill air. Arthur stepped into her space, his massive frame completely shielding her from the open corridor. He reached out, his large, gloved hand gripping the back of her neck. His thumb stroked her jawline with a sudden, rough intensity that had nothing to do with tactics. His silver-blue eyes, visible even through the shadows, burned with a dark, possessive heat. "He’s trying to draw us out," Arthur murmured, his low voice vibrating directly against her chest. "But he forgot one thing."
