A faint smile curved her lips, but there was nothing warm in it. Ashleigh Dana sat beside Voss, her hair shifting in soft ripples of color I couldn’t read yet, pale gold at the roots, bleeding into streaks of copper and violet. Her attention was fixed on me, a quiet alertness beneath her otherwise casual posture. Of all of them, she felt the least threatening, though I knew she could be the most unpredictable.

"Lucian?" Chloe stepped into the pew, her fragile frame wrapped in a dark velvet coat. She looked pale, her hazel eyes glistening with fresh tears, her delicate face twisted into a look of profound, gentle sorrow. She had stayed in the background throughout the entire service, kept away from the primary cameras by my direct orders to security. She slid onto the polished bench beside me, the faint scent of floral perfume invading the space between us. "The cars are waiting outside," Chloe whispered softly, her trembling voice dripping with sweet, tragic sympathy. "Everyone is gone, Lucian. You've been sitting here for three hours... Please, you need to come home."

Xavier places him carefully in the nearby incubator, then turns his attention back to me. "What's going on?" Xavier shouts, looking at the doctors entering the room. "I don't know. I'll have to examine her." Chloe responds. ...Xavier POV... Chloe dons her medical gear, then grabs a nearby stool, and faces Lexi's abdomen. Elena brings the nearby ultrasound machine towards Dr Lawson. Chloe grabs the wand then places some jell over Lexi's stomach. She glides it around her stomach, as Lexi continues to whither in pain.

Chloe tried to wrap her arms around his neck, but shivered back away in fear after seeing the cold eyes he was staring at her with. "Is…. Is it because of Kiara?. She's long dead. You should forget about a whore like that who cheated you for another useless guy!". Chloe's eyes widened in fear when Asher's right hand gripped her neck tightly. She was struggling to breathe while her neck was already making cracking sounds. "Don't you dare say such a thing in front of me if you don't want to be killed". Asher's voice was really threatening and his eyes were so cold to look at. Chloe had no choice but to nod her head immediately so he'd let her go.

he smiled, “Let them help you.” Chloe’s eyes lit up excitedly. She hastily turned to order those soldiers, “Hold her hands and body to the floor! And bring me an axe! A sharp one!” Two soldiers came to press Aurora’s hands against the floor. One rushed to get Chloe’s axe. With a sharp axe in her hand, Chloe looked down at Aurora’s anger-filled face and grinned: “You bitched about me cutting off that whore Angelina’s hands for a long time. Now I am cutting yours as well. Happy?”

Chloe halted and was in shock when she saw Olivia bump into him and was caught by him, she blinked when he saw how he had gripped her arm and how her friend was struggling to free herself. “Hey, let go of her!” Chloe shouted as she rushed over and Asher glanced at Chloe but didn't pay much attention to her, he turned his gaze back at Olivia. “Answer the damn question!” He said again, this time, his forehead creased, and it terrified Olivia, Chloe stiffened, she was easily afraid, and she had no strength of her own to fight him.

Godly. Alpha Xavier Ashford was not a God, but a man. It was that realization that kept me from reacting when he finally broke the silence and spoke. “You haven’t killed the girl yet, Hael. “Before you cause irreparable damage.” “She’s a rogue,” Chloe insists weakly. “She’ll tear this pack apart.” Asher’s voice drops dangerously low. “The only person tearing this pack apart right now is you.” The room is deathly quiet. Chloe’s eyes fill with tears—whether from humiliation or rage, I can’t tell. She turns sharply and storms out, shoulders shaking. No one follows. No one speaks. My legs finally give out. I sink into the nearest chair, hands trembling violently now that the adrenaline is crashing down. The anger drains fast, leaving behind something worse.

Chloe hesitated, her eyes flickering with a mix of sadness and vulnerability. She didn't want to burden Austin with her troubles, but the weight on her shoulders became too heavy to bear. She finally mustered the courage to speak, her voice quivering with emotion. "It's... It's about what happened on Joan's birthday. She... she humiliated me." As she turned from side to side, taking in the full effect, she almost didn’t recognise herself. A knock at the door startled her out of her thoughts. "Olivia? You ready?" Asher’s voice carried through the room, calm and steady. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door. Asher stood there, dressed in a sharp black tuxedo, looking every bit the powerful Alpha he was. His dark hair was slicked back, and his chiselled jaw was clean-shaven. But it wasn’t his appearance that caught her off guard—it was the way his eyes widened when he saw her. His gaze travelled from the top of her perfectly styled hair to the tips of her golden heels, and for a moment, he seemed at a loss for words.
