"I'll watch how you destroy yourself." Her expression turned colder than it had been even when confronting Xavier. With one sharp step, she kicked up a gust of wind and vanished into the air. It was a clear sign that she was not just leaving, she was unleashing her fury. "That footwork was terrifying," Chantelle muttered. Even Aspen looked shaken. "Keep acting like this, Andrew, and someone's gonna hack you into pieces one day!" Chantelle snapped. After one last angry glare, she stormed off too. Aspen did not have quite the same fire in her. This demon of a man was heartless to her, but at least he was equally dismissive of Chantelle and even Luna.

She turned and sprinted down the final flight of stairs toward the exit. Chloe has just committed the ultimate "face-slapping" moment against the city's most powerful man. She is out of the hotel and into the night, but she has left a very dangerous predator with a bruised ego and a bruised body. Xavier Grayson does not lose, and he certainly does not forgive a strike to his dignity.

I was unsettled and didn't appear to want to hear what he had to say. "She's dead, Chloe," he said briefly, and I was taken aback by what I heard. My heartbeat quickened, and my tears flowed once more. It was as if I was out of breath and didn't want to get caught up in what he was saying. My head shook. "No, that's not true. Axel, tell me where the hell she is! Tell me you're just lying!" I yelled as I approached him, barely shaking him. She can't be dead.

“Tell him he can’t do this to me! I was supposed to be Luna! I earned it! I deserve it!” The room was silent. No one met her eye. Chloe’s sob turned into an angry scream as she took a step toward me again. “This is her fault! She ruined everything!” She tried to lunge toward me, but Rowan raised his hand slightly, signaling Asher. “Gladly,” Asher muttered under his breath as he stepped forward and caught Chloe by the arms, holding her back as she flailed. “Let me go!” she shrieked, struggling against Asher’s grip. “She—she bewitched you! She made you do this!”

I turned, blinking in disbelief. Alex Blackwood, who had been lending me a listening ear, was now laughing. His hand pressed against his mouth, like he was trying to smother it, but the sound broke through anyway, sharp, piercing and wrong. “You’re laughing?” My voice cracked, broken by the shock. “What the hell is so funny?” He turned his head toward me, his smirk curling like smoke, his eyes gleaming cruel. “Tell me, Chloe. What kinds of positions did he make love to you in? You look like a doggy kind of girl.”

Loudly. “Yes,” Jace continued mercilessly. “He thought he was ruining mine but his was already destroyed! Chloe has been selling herself to men and it wasn't about the money. That's the extent of damage your friend did to your precious daughter! She is broken. That’s what Asher did to her.” Alyssa sobbed, turning to Chloe. “Chloe? Is it true?” I turned to my sister. Chloe. She stared into nothing, her eyes glassy. She looked lost. Like she wasn't even here. Like she hadn't heard what Jace said nor witnessed the scene unfold.

Chelsea chuckled humorlessly, "You try so hard, Lola. But you'll always be useless. Thrown to the side the minute someone better comes along. Tyler saw you for what you are, and now Asher does too." The way she said his name rang out clearly in my head, 'Asher'. Within seconds I was seeing red. "f**k being a good girl." I snarled, smiling as my fist connected with Chelsea's face.

"I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything bad at all. I would lick your feet and apologize a thousand times, but please forgive me. Don't fire me from this job. I really need this job for my family." I ignored Nicole's words and said to Alexander, "I need to get out of here. I need new clothes." I was just about to turn around, but Nicole held my calf. "Please Chloe, just this once. I have a lot of bills to pay." "Don't touch me, let go of my leg!" Chloe didn't budge, her grip only tightened. I was about to push her to let me go, but Alexander stepped in. He trheat Nicole, "Let go of Chloe right now or you're dealing with me."

He shifted back twice, his hands dropping off my collar as he looked from Luciana to me. "I was given a second chance to come back for those who killed me. I know all your secrets. You think you can take over Oakstone with a plot from Luciana? Never!" My eyes gleamed with satisfaction. "And now your beloved mate is paying the price. The poison will take care of her soon enough." Greg's face hardened, his eyes blazing with determination. "I won't let you hurt her, Ashley. I won't let you win." Greg rushed forward and crashed into me. I stood still, deliberately not avoiding his attack. Greg's hands wrapped around my throat, squeezing tightly.
