My throat tightened as a wave of panic surged through me. I paused the video, staring at the hand frozen on the screen. I could almost see the person’s face behind it, obscured but tangible. I could almost feel the weight of their gaze on the twins, their intention clear in a silent, threatening gesture. Someone had been inside the classroom. Someone had watched my children, unimpeded, and had filmed it with the sole purpose of reminding me: nothing we did would go unnoticed. Nothing we did would go unchallenged.

I knew the look of people trained to kill things they didn’t understand. At first it was one or two in a class, sitting too straight, taking too-perfect notes. Then by Wednesday, they were everywhere. Cafeteria. Library. Gym bleachers. Even at practice, standing near the locker rooms with fake excuses about “touring the facilities.” They weren’t watching the humans. They were watching us.

I watched them through the gaps in the debris, my muscles coiled, ready to shift and tear their throats out if they got a foot closer to that bar. I saw Zosia hold her breath, trying to make herself as small as possible between the beer kegs.

The echoes of punches and kicks reverberated through the room as two assassins engaged in a fierce duel, their movements fluid and precise. Adjacent to the sparring ring, there was a section dedicated to agility and stealth training. An obstacle course challenged assassins to navigate through a maze of laser beams, pressure-sensitive floors, and hidden traps. Emine watched as a young recruit stealthily weaved her way through the obstacles, her movements almost ethereal, her body a silhouette in the shadows.

Deep inside the building— Hidden compartments opened. Small black drones lifted into the air. Silent. Fast. Daniel watched the security feed. “…okay that’s cool.” The blast barrier finally collapsed. The assassins stepped through. And immediately— Three drones shot down the hallway toward them. The first assassin raised his rifle— But the drones were faster. Electric pulses fired. The men dropped instantly. Unconscious. The hallway went quiet. Inside the penthouse Daniel slowly lowered the chair. “…I officially love this building.” Sebastian and Marcus arrived seconds later.

She removed her blade and looked over the dead men. Leanunya then looked over to Nagos who was crouched down covering his face in fear. Leanunya sighed and cleaned her blades and put her blades away before walking over to Nagos. “It's over”, Leanunya watched as Nagos opened his eyes and gasped at seeing the bodys but it wasn't fear in his eyes that Leanunya saw as Nagos looked at the bodys, but wonder. Nagos stood, “d-did you k-kill them?” Leanunya nodded, “yes.”

She looked up and found a surveillance camera on the top of the classroom's main door. Pointing at the camera, she asked, "Could I see the footage from this camera?"

I commanded. Flashback ends… And then, earlier today, a few hours ago— Flashback… I was at the Alpha’s site, my eyes glued to the screen of my desktop. The security department had delivered the footage I requested. On the 5th of this month — the night I chased that assassin and got to Sky’s dorm. I knew it was impossible to watch a whole day’s footage, so I chose the specific time I wanted. 7 p.m. I watched the entrance clip as students trooped in and out of the dorm.
