KAVEH The engine hummed steadily beneath us as I gripped the steering wheel tighter because even though she had easily agreed, a part of me was still wound and restless. Astrid sat in the passenger seat in a dress that was twice her size, the only thing I could get on short notice. I made a mental note to stock her wardrobe and filed the thought away. Right now, all my attention was on her. Her body was rigid, gaze fixed on the passing city lights as evening fell. I could see the way she fought back tears—jaw clenched, eyes glistening but refusing to spill.

~Astrid~ I felt something calling me, i didn’t know what it was that kept calling me but then i didn’t know what it was but i knew that the feeling was one that i couldn’t describe. “Oh my, did you see the Lycan King Dante? He looks like a statue that the moon goddess made herself.” “He doesn’t look like what we heard in stories as children, they said that Lycans were beasts that were merciless and ruthless but then he didn't look anything like that.”

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what I wanted, maybe just to see her look at herself differently, maybe to prove that she didn’t need to hide behind oversized clothes and defensive walls… I trailed off as the curtain moved again and I lifted my head without thinking. Astrid stood there, framed by the soft lighting. She was wearing a dress that revealed the elegant curve of her spine and hugged every line of her body like it had been designed specifically for her. For a moment, I forgot how to breathe.

She smiled again. “Yes!” I squealed, running inside. Sylvi had designed a special dress for Helga to wear tonight. She turned 18 today, she wanted her first shift to happen on the same day. With all the rising threats, we thought it a good idea. The dress was beautiful. It was the most beautiful blue. I had an open back that dipped low. The front was simple with a V line to not show to much. There were tiny crystals embroidered on the hip that matched the valknut mark we all wore.

Isn't she stupid to have trusted her? "I... I... Don't want to go again," She wanted to yell, but her voice rather comes out in a whisper, and her eyes slowly widen in shock as she wonders what was wrong with her. Finally, Astrid turns around to face her. She removes the hoodie cap from her head, revealing her deadly face but the person is not Astrid... It's another woman entirely. Someone she has never met all her life. "Wh...who are you?" She stutters nervously, terrified by the sight before her. Slowly, the strange woman's smirk slowly widens into an evil grin, as her eyes turn bright yellow with a touch of greenish color.

Astrid puts it in her mind to ask him about it though. She goes to the bath house to get ready and for a moment she thinks about dressing in rags, to look like a slave sold in the market. Dirty and scared. But no... if she does that she will prove the lords' point, she won't look like someone that they should respect, a human in their eyes. She instead choose the beautiful emerald jewelry set that Tamara gifted her and a golden dress. The evening comes too fast and she dosne’t feel ready.

Astrid stood there. Not in her usual bouncing, dress she always clad herself in in the frozen world. Not in trousers with pockets full of notes and crumbs. She was dressed in a knee-length dress, fitted, elegant, the kind of thing that screamed Luna without begging for attention. Her hair was pulled back neatly. Her shoulders were straight. Her eyes— God. Her eyes were calm. Cold. Ambitious. This wasn’t the hyperactive girl who talked too much and laughed too loud. This was a woman who had learned how power tasted.
