Every electronic device in sight pulsed once, softly, as if syncing to a rhythm only Lumen could hear.
Raven was already awake, pacing the living room with a cup of coffee that had long gone cold. “You didn’t sleep,” she said without looking.
“I couldn’t.” Sophia’s voice was hoarse, fragile. “Every time I close my eyes, I see it. The light under the ice.”
“Yeah.” Raven turned toward the window. “Now it’s everywhere.”
Outside, the skyline flickered — not with electricity, but color. Wisps of aurora drifted like ghosts between buildings. Traffic lights blinked in new hues, not red-yellow-green, but gradients of white-blue-gold. The city was breathing.
