I had no idea where it had come from or what the fuck it was, but it felt too much like an internal lock snapping open. My vision exploded into color, then into nothing as I hit the ground. My fingers dug into the dirt without my permission. “No.” I muttered to myself in pain. “Not again. No, no, no…” “Rowan,” I hissed. “Stop. Stop this.” “Can’t,” he said cheerfully. “This is an activation cycle. You triggered the bloom with that delectable hatred earlier, but now? Now, we begin.” My whole chest seized as I felt another presence within me. This time it was big, coiling and hungry, as if something inside my blood was waiting for commands.

I was so happy to see him alive… But the blood! It triggered a memory I’d long since forgotten... “You truly are a fool,” Ryan snarled, grinning from ear to ear, while flexing his fingers so he drew blood. “Renounce the throne, Rain! NOW!!!” Blood! So much blood… I was tiptoeing down the corridor, following my mother and the man who drove her here. Dead wolves were lying everywhere, some still trying to fight for their lives. I wanted to stop and help, but my mother’s voice drew me away…

“It feels like a part of me is missing, and I don’t know how to fix it.” Ellara stopped pacing and turned to face Zoe. “Awakening a dormant nature, particularly one tied to something as complex as vampirism, is no small feat. It requires a catalyst - something to ignite that aspect of your soul. And it must be done carefully. Vampiric energy is deeply tied to blood, life force, and often the darkness within one’s own heart. Awakening it too abruptly could destabilize you entirely.” Zoe swallowed hard, the weight of Ellara’s words sinking in. “So, what can I do? How can I awaken it safely?”

“Now rise, Fireborn. The next time he touches you, the flame will answer. And it will be his undoing.” I rose, slowly, steadily, the violet-blue flame dancing on my fingertips, the power thrumming through me, an unstoppable force. The scar on my aunt’s throat pulsed in resonance with my own awakened magic. The fear was still there, a faint echo, but it was overshadowed by a burning, resolute fury. The witchblood had awakened. And it craved vengeance.

“Not yet. If you leave now, you’ll lead Lucien straight to them. He’s searching. Tearing through the borderlands. If he finds your location, he’ll burn the Raven Moon to the ground.” My breath catches. “What do you suggest?” I ask. “You need to finish awakening your blood.” I frown. “What does that mean?” “It means there’s more inside of you than you know. Your abilities—your connection to the old ways—it’s only the beginning.” I glance at my hands. That silver glow, the healing, the energy that pulses when I’m fighting—it’s all new. All terrifying. Korra looks at me, then back to Kita. “And me?”

Violet’s POV “Wake up! Wake up!” I heard a deep loud growl pierce my veil of slumber. After the haze of sleep slid away from me, I jolted up, wide awake, “I’m up!” When I opened my eyes, I wasn’t prepared for the sight before me. I thought I was still in my pack…in my bed. That was sadly no longer true and my mind hadn’t caught up with my reality standing in front of me.

I immediately ran back to the apartment to find that the black hounds had surrounded Richard. I felt my body tense up as the black hounds emerged, their eyes filled with rage. They were trained werewolf assassins, and they outnumbered us two to five. My husband and I fought hard, but it wasn't enough. Richard mind-talked to me, telling me to take our daughter Daciana and run. I refused at first, continuing to fight alongside him. But one of the hounds pounced on him, pushing him aside and dashing toward the back door where the car was parked. I ran after him, fighting with all my might, but I was already severely injured and getting weaker.

A Fae’s blood was like poison, it spread through us at a rapid rate, making our blood impossible to clot as the poison ate away at our organs. “We need his help!” The doctor yells at me. It would come with a price, it always did. Pulling out my phone, I dial his number, it was my only way of calling him but he appears by my side without answering the phone. A bright glow that is quickly replaced with him, King Alwin. “Oh dear, oh dear!” He mutters as he quickly looks over Aria. “This is your mate? The one gifted?” “Yes. You have to do something!”
