Back At The Barnyard Duke Novels & Stories

Missing him pulls at my chest like a quiet ache, though knowing he’s away brings relief. We are presented. “His Grace, Duke Noah Wingknight of the Northern Reaches, and Her Grace, the Duchess Paige.” Quiet hangs heavy. After a breath, voices rise - sharper now, buzzing with heat instead of calm. Here they arrive. Curious ones first. Then those who mean trouble. Followed by quiet plotters slipping in behind. “Duchess, we heard such tales of your… resilience in the North. How… rustic it must be.” A lady with sapphires in her hair.

“Believe me, he was doing you a huge favor.” “I still love dogs though…I was planning on taking him home with me—” “I could have hunted you down to your address for all the right and wrong reasons.” I paused. My heart skipped and I stared. Just then, Duke came charging back, trying to hop on me. I crouched to pat his back, and Dom tossed a ball. “Fetch!” We laughed as Duke took off again. Dom glanced up. “Sky’s darkening. It’ll get chilly soon.” I exhaled softly. “I forgot my jacket.”

"There. That is where we wait." "Wait for what?" "For Silas to arrive in person," the Duke said, his eyes flashing with a lethal hunger. "He wants the Scythe. He wants the Tenth Life. I’m going to give him exactly what he wants—right through his throat." He picked me up, throwing me over his shoulder like a prize of war. I beat my fists against his back, but it was like hitting solid stone. As he began the vertical climb up the rain-slicked rock, I realized the terrifying truth

Duke was shocked and jumped back as the bizarre thing started to make noises, but Elijah told Duke that it was just an item that was similar to a magic item and wasn't harmful, she then asks duke to sit down and focus on the recordings. "....!!!...What in the...". Duke's face turns red as he realized who the man is in the picture, it was his trusted right-hand man, Baron Larson Medika. At first, he was ready to get mad, but upon watching even further, what he heard befuddle him even more.

"Divorce won't be a quick process. The Duke won't be back anytime soon. We must be patient." Dorothy leaned in, her eyes gleaming. "Then let her enjoy her little kingdom for a while longer… and you, Vivi, use this chance. Get close to the Duke. Make him even more dependent on you." Vivian's smile turned predatory. "Exactly. I will stay glued to his side. I'll follow him to the battlefield if I have to. I will make him mine completely."

Ed started and I looked at him. “I will break his fingers, I promise Em” Ron said cracking his fingers. “I will beat the shit out of him Em” Jack said punching his fists together. “I will give him sleeping pills and then experiment the most foolish hairstyle made in history, on him, Em” Andy said dramatically. “Shut up, the four of you” I heard a dangerous low growl from Duke. Our eyes focused on him. His face was dark and serious. “Now, you listen to me Em. He hurts you even in the slightest way, I will chop his balls off and play basketball with it, you hear me?”

,I nod. "sorry I get up to pee a lot",I sigh. After leaving I try to head home but Duke stops me. "want to grab food?",I don't meet his eyes. He looks at me and I avert my eyes. "sorry I need a nap",I walk off my guards following. Duke pov

Tears stream down my cheeks as I turn my head to watch as Mane Beatrice walks out of the Den, freshly changed with Nala and Chloe and the entire Pride walking behind her. Again I tried to say that I was sorry, however, she didn’t want to hear it as she whistled calling the rest of the Pride to the centre of the village. Once everyone is encircled around the village centre she looks at Duke and says, “Expose her back.” Duke’s stern stone face mask cracks just a little as he looks into my eyes. Being the only Father figure I have known, I know that Duke doesn’t want to do as she says as he steps up behind me once more whispering,

Berk Hill also broke a sweat, immediately apologizing: "Please forgive me, Duke! I'll send the cage seeker back right away!" Marcus grabbed Berk by the collar and growled. "Bring that hound back to me. If you let him get out, you're dead!" Berk Hill hugged his neck and coughed. The dying here was that one was being torn to death by that guy, and the other was being cut to death by his duke. If he wanted to live, he must have brought the cage with the healthy person back to the barracks.

Cricket Jase drove us over to what he referred to as the ‘main barn’ and I couldn’t stop my mouth from dropping open as we walked inside. It was nicer than any barn I’d ever seen. Not that I’d seen many, but I’d seen a few from watching Poppy’s competitions and visiting Kim and Knight’s home. None of them were as clean as Duke’s. From the first-aid room, to the bunk room, and now the barn, I wondered just how much money Duke had stashed away.
