Kill that signal now. Now!" But no matter how many calls he made, the masked man didn't vanish. He only flickered on the screen every now and then. "My name..." the man announced. "Is Ghost." "And I mean no harm…if you just listen." I frowned, confused. But for some reason, I still listened. There was some kind of mystery around this "Ghost" that instantly made me eager to hear what he had to say.

The boy screamed as he began falling through developing gap toward water flowing forty feet below. Without hesitation transcending tactical evaluation, the Shadow Knight moved with transformed capability beyond physical limitation. A smell I had not encountered in years but recognized all the same. It was the same ghost note that had clung to the air the night my parents died. This was not chaos. It was not a fight gone wrong or a rogue passing through. This was intent. Someone had gotten close enough to Owen to inject him, or had taken him elsewhere and left this behind as a message. Either option required control, preparation, and knowledge of what we were.

My heart beats in my throat when the referee finally announces Luciano's fight. “Next up, The Iron Bear and Il Fantasma— The Ghost.” “The Ghost? The music changes, the lights dim, and a mountain of a man emerges from the smoky entrance. He beats his bare chest with a roar that makes the crowd erupt in cheers.

I ask when he answers. “Yeah, boss, she’s still in her cab,” he replies. Good. Right where I want her. “You know your assignment,” I say, ending the call. No hesitation. No explanation. He already knows. Ghost is called that for a reason, you can always feel him watching, but you never see him. Same way Black Kings moves. You don’t see us coming, you just feel it when it’s already too late. She told me she doesn’t belong to me and walked away, leaving me standing here.

I immediately got up and sat up straight, being alert. Did he already in this room all this time? But I didn't see anyone. I remember that figure had the appearance of a full human yet was transparent with a faint gray light. He's so easy to see, how come I've never seen him? What made him suddenly decide to appear?

The witches closed in, their laughter echoing like a chorus of nightmares. Something inside Aqua snapped. A surge of dark energy, unfamiliar and terrifying, welled up within her. She felt her pendant grow hot against her skin, the clear crystal turning black as smoke. The air around her crackled with raw power as she turned back towards the attackers, her fear morphing into a blinding rage.

I sighed and prepared to microwave a box of macaroni and cheese. But when I turned around, I spotted a note pressed under something on the table. It was in Nathaniel’s familiar handwriting, though this time, his note held a hint of cold anger. [Wasteful.] I was stunned for a moment before I burst out laughing.
