Everywhere we turned, some vendor or kid or game host kept snagging him. Like—at the dart booth? He won a giant stuffed bear. The size of a small car. “How are we—” I clutched my stomach laughing. “How are we gonna fit that in the car?!” Ronan muttered, “We’re not.” Heri just blinked up at the bear like it was the most magical thing ever. Damon shoved it at her. Just shoved it. And she hugged it, disappeared behind the fur, and mumbled, muffled, “Thank you.”

I walk out into the waiting area, Ajax and Aries jump up, using their speed they are by my sides in seconds looking me over, looking from me to Bear. "So how did it go?" Jas asks nervously. "No idea." Bear replies, "It was hilarious though." He laughs a deep rumbling laugh making me smile. Bear tells everyone what happened quite animatedly considering his face usually says absolutely nothing, the guys have looks of shock, amusement and disgust by the end of the recap. "So Argon is trying to sell his own story so he can come out of hiding huh? I'd like to get my hands on him." Aries growls out.

The sea of people parted as my men walked through. Paxton led the way, winking or flirting with every woman he passed, mated or not. The rest of the men looked on edge and so uncomfortable that I wanted to laugh. Barley even still had his sword strapped to his back, and his face was tight like he was ready for battle. I would have laughed, too, if the giant bear shifter I had been waiting for had been with them. But he wasn't, and I couldn't find it in me to do more than force a smile for a few minutes.
