Caroline was sympathetic, but she knew that Benjamin did it for Liora to grow. After all, Benjamin had mentioned that supernatural entities were drawn to Liora.

I ask Jasmine. She purses her lips. “Coming this way,”Said Jasmine. I stood from my chair where I was putting on my makeup and headed for the door. And I locked eyes with her. “Find Charles. Make sure he doesn’t find out that Benjamin is here,” I tell her and she nods her head. Leaving the room she goes one way and I go the other. Cautiously I make my way through the dim lit hallways of the mansion. This place is like a fortress. How in the world did Ben even get in without being seen?

She scoffs, “You think?” She was exasperated, he could be very clever sometimes, but dumb as a bag of rocks at other times. “But thanks for clarifying that for me.” He nods, she points at him clicking her fingers like she’s trying to find the right words, “Did you sort out that mess with Hecate properly?” He smiles and nods, “Yes, it’s all sorted now, thank you so much. Ben is now my champion and helping Hecate in his downtime.”

He placed his finger on his chin, cupping it. “That’s the power of that umbra stone. When it is activated, no one can perceive the gap between reality and fantasy,” I responded. Lotus slowly nodded as if he already understood everything. “Hey, Cerina, until when will you plan to confine me here? Just release me already,” Marc shouted in my head. Oh, I forgot. Without anyone’s notice, I secretly discharged Marc from my cursed celestial realm. I looked around but I didn’t see him. Where is he? I stopped looking for Marc when Belphegor spoke again.

I rush to my room to check if the ghosts are there and to drop off my backpack when I find Ben waiting for me. He's sitting on the edge of the bed as though fixing to have tea. "Oh, hi." Relief floods me that he's here and okay. "Where's Kiarr?" "He said he wanted you and me to get to know each other better." The edges of Ben's mouth twitches. "He did, did he?" Just how well did Kiarr think me and Ben needed to be? Heat rises to my face and I sit beside him thinking about our last conversation. Ben had mentioned blood and sex magic. Would I have to do one or both to send them back?

The idea that a virtual stranger could do that to her, could make her nearly frantic with need, did not please her. Maybe there’s something in the air, she thought suspiciously, taking a discrete sniff. Maybe it’s not me at all, but something to do with that thing he calls me. What was it, a charmer? Glancing at him out of the corner of her eye, she asked, “What is this charmer business about, anyway?” He looked at her; obviously surprised she would choose to speak to him. He took a moment to answer. “A charmer makes men want her. It’s the special pheromone she produces that makes the Haunt male wild.”

“I want more than a plan. I want power. There has to be something. A spell. A rune. A pact. Anything.” Ben looked to the horizon. “Then we go see someone who knows those things.” Gunner raised a brow. “Charlie already said—” “I’m not talking about Charlie,” Ben cut in. “I’m talking about the witch who taught Charlie.” Jax groaned. “Please tell me she’s not the one who lives in the swamp and throws dead frogs at people.” Tyler smirked. “Oh, she is. Now get me out of here!” she declared. “Okay… but this might hurt.” A sudden, gut-wrenching sound of bones shifting echoed through the room. Charlene gasped, her eyes widening as she looked down at her forearm. Light burst from within her skin, revealing a ghostly image of the spear embedded in her very bones—like an ethereal X-ray.
