Lost to Fire: Book Two

Lost to Fire: Book Two

Brixtius turns and starts walking down the corridor; little Eurydice ran down. I follow him down the dim hallway. I immediately glimpse at the paintings on the wall. Mostly the scenes are of the gods, playing havoc on Olympus. There are some paintings of everyday life. Men and women are working the fields, eating the bounty of the land, and enjoying each other's company. What grabs me the most is the vivid colors and lifelike detail. It saddens me to know these pictures will soon be destroyed when Vesuvius blows her stack. As if the thought disturbed the sleeping giant. The walls and floor start to shake. The tremor only lasts a few seconds, but it's enough to spur me into action.

Two worlds that collide

Two worlds that collide

The grand library, once a room where billion-dollar mergers were whispered into existence over crystal tumblers of scotch, was now thick with the stale smell of expensive cigars and the bitter rot of defeat. Arthur Blackwood sat behind his mahogany desk, his fingers trembling as he traced the rim of a glass. His eyes were bloodshot, fixed on the rain-streaked windows. He was a man suspended in a state of lethal waiting, his ears straining for a phone call from the Jackals—the mercenaries he had sent into the dark to retrieve the daughter he had sold and the man he had failed to kill. The heavy oak doors of the library burst open, the sound echoing like a gunshot.

Escaping The World: Lost in Book (book 1)

He asks with something in his voice I can't quite identify. "You don't know." I say with a slight chuckle in my voice. "Just pick one." I watch idle as he sifts through all the books until he picks one. House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas. "That is one of my favourite books. Although I might just be biased because I love her writing." I lean back in the chair with a satisfied look on my face. "What makes you love someone's writing?" He sits back in his chair and looks at me curiously.

The Impossible Fate That Leads To A God Of A New World

The Impossible Fate That Leads To A God Of A New World

“The beach that you occasionally went— is the place where we shipwrecked on. The first impression I had on this island… is its reek of smell.” The incident about that shipwreck is real? I thought it really is a story meant to entertain us. “Reek of smell… you mean— there are corpses everywhere?” “Not only corpses... half of the forest was also destroyed because of the war of the Black Cats and White Snakes.” “Then… who are the ones asking for helping during that time? Is it the Fenrir wolves you are leading now?” “Yes. However, your father’s priority is the plague.” “Ah, I heard this from Pearl and Asha. How did my dad solve the plague…?”

World of Tomorrow

World of Tomorrow

The bagpipes picked up, and the familiar comforting strains ‘Amazing Grace’ added to the solemn ambiance. While New York had enjoyed what would undoubtedly become history's greatest carnival at the corporate-sponsored 1939 World’s Fair that Andrew had vehemently loathed, the rest of the world was experiencing new and growing horrors, and Detective Sosa's senseless loss was yet another one. The World of Tomorrow’s spectacle and relentless optimism suddenly seemed grotesque in the context of the Great Depression, against a backdrop of a growing war in Europe, like a halcyon dreamworld detached from the realities of the bloody conflict abroad and the suffering still plaguing Americans here at h

I've barely been able to put this story down. I absolutely love it. I love how descriptive the story is. And it has made me want to have been able to go to that World's Fair. It is a beautiful love story and I can't wait to finish it.

I am only to Chapter 22, but this book is Amazing so far and by far my favorite. I love historical fiction and this piece is a gem. I read the Author's book about Grace and Juliet and just had to jump right into this one as some characters are the same.

TWO DIFFERENT WORLDS

TWO DIFFERENT WORLDS

ELIZABETH: The world was blurry when I first opened my eyes. My head throbbed like someone had taken a hammer to it, and a deep, dull ache settled in the base of my skull. I blinked rapidly, trying to force clarity back into my vision. It felt as though the air was thick, suffocating, and the room I was in was dimly lit, with shadows creeping up the walls. My arms felt strangely heavy, and it wasn't until I tried to move them that I realized they were bound. Panic surged through me like ice water in my veins.
