The staircase was decorated with beautiful, sparkling lights that made it a stunning sight to behold. When the Mullen family finally reached the basement, they were completely awestruck. Their mansion was already considered luxurious, but the basement was like a palace, taking luxury to the extreme.

Looking around and adjusting his eyes in the darkness, he could see that he was already in a narrow plain land with bushes on the sides. "Where are they?," he mumbled to himself. Approaching some stairs I thought headed to my locker, I dropped my schedule that was barely hanging onto my finger. As I bent over to pick it up, someone rammed into me and I lost my balance. Flailing my arms, I tried to keep from tumbling down the stairs, but gravity won and took me down the staircase instead. “Oh, shoot! I'm so sorry. Are you okay?” A polite, male voice asked me as I sat on my aching butt at the bottom of the stairs. “Here, let me help,” he said as his hand shot into view. I grabbed it and he literally lifted me to my feet.

I know I already keep them late to whatever appointment they have for this day, but it wasn’t my great idea to tag me along with them, much less dress me up like a slut who hasn’t been sold in a decade. And hello? My legs weren’t that long like theirs. I was literally skipping my steps just to keep up with this giant while Akim had fallen behind us. The giant double door was already opened soon as we took the last step on the grand staircase. Like, why do we have to take the stairs when this mansion has elevators in it. Does he have to torment me this way?

Cole stumbled to his feet and bolted toward the stairs, his legs trembling so badly that he missed a step. With a loud thud, he tumbled down the staircase, landing in a heap at the bottom. The sharp pain brought a sliver of clarity to his frantic mind. Gritting his teeth, he grabbed the railing and pulled himself up, limping as he made his way back up the stairs. This time, he moved more slowly, and thankfully, there were no more accidents.

However, somehow I managed to get to the fourth floor. Standing near the stairs to catch my breath, I felt a rush of footsteps behind me and I misplaced my balance. The basket in my hands slipped forward, and my sandals tripped, causing me to fall backward from the stairs. Screaming, I grabbed at the steel rail of the stairs for safety. I could feel my heart beating in my mouth. Unfortunately, the rail was slippery and I was losing my grip. I closed my eyes so I couldn't see myself getting fractured. I was on the verge of crumpling when a strong hand pulled me up and I collapsed on a rock-hard chest.
