She frowns, clearly puzzled. “Then what is it? I’ve noticed how you react whenever I’m near you, like you’re holding your breath or trying not to… well, breathe.”
I swallow hard, my mouth suddenly dry. I need to find a way to explain without giving too much away. “It’s… complicated,” I say slowly, searching for the right words. “You have a unique scent, one that… stands out to me. It’s… distracting. But not in a bad way. It’s just… intense. More than I’m used to.”
