I ducked, the air from its passage whistling over my head, and drove my vibro-blade into its flank.

I opened my eyes in surprise and looked at Nina’s face, her eyes red from crying. "Why are you crying? Is this not what you wanted to see?" In an instant, Nina cried even harder. Rowan flew into a rage and rushed forward, reaching out as if to grab me. "Ash, are you even a man? How dare you bully Nina like this!" Nina shoved him away, her voice trembling through tears. "I don't need you to interfere. Don't touch him. He's seriously injured."

All of the voices grew louder until they were howling inside her head. She looked into the bright blue eyes that pleaded with her. Inky blackness spread from the center consuming all color and light until they were pools of darkness covering his entire eye socket. He lurched forward grabbing the barrel of the gun and forcing it against his forehead. Zira yelped and squeezed. BANG! Zira sat up screaming and flailing. Hands wrestled with hers making her flail more. A firm grasp locked on and forced her down.

The two kneel beheaded on their respective places. But I want more. Using the butt of my gun, I hammer away at the wings, the shoulders, and everything else. Nobody comes by. And the day has turned to twilight. Nothing to stop my righteous vandalism. I hammer away. Stone gets between my hand and my gun, and it bites and slices my palms, drawing blood that drips onto the stone. Red and white. Misery and life. The angels are only a crumbled mess. But my hands don't hurt nearly as much as what's inside. I wish I had a bullet to end it. To stop this madness. But I can't.

"One!" As the same time the counting finished, the old woman hits Rhea's face with her elbow again. Instead of touching her face, Rhea moves and grabs the old woman's hair. PO2 Lopez shoots Rhea at her arm, but because Rhea moves to grab the old woman, the bullet that is supposed to hit her arm hits her chest. It only take one hit to make Rhea fell to the ground. The old woman was comforted by the female police while the others call for the ambulance.

Zhu Wushang then slides his back on his backrest and slants sideward with one hand lazily supporting his chin. Zhu Wushang gave out an ultimatum with a cold smile while Blacky starts to transform. Many tentacles appear with a dog-like mouth that is made of bone at the end of each tentacle. Many crimson red eyes appear on its head; each eye looks hungrily at the exposed limbs of that man in black.

To Pride. First Blood. Another one. Creek’s smile dies. “Four?” He looks at me. At Cove. At Ash. At Pride. “Mother’s greedy.” “Mother’s done,” I say. I pull the bone knife. No more talking. I throw it. Not at Creek. At the ground between us. It hits. Sticks. And the gold vines change. They go from the knife. Out. Like a web. They touch every Blackmire wolf. Every Redfang. Every Duskbane.

CHAPTER SEVENTY ONE MALAKAI * * "Oops, I missed," Pierce mutters, a sly smile spreading on his face.
