The third sent darkness flickering across my vision.
I gritted my teeth, trying to hold back the screams, refusing to give her the satisfaction, but silver has a way of breaking even the strongest flesh.
The pain built until I could no longer think, just endure and survive. Every breath was a battle. Every heartbeat a silent cry.
Nyra finally raised a hand, signaling the guards to stop. The whip paused mid-air, leaving silence and the sting of silver lingering in the air.
By the time they stopped, my body was barely moving, my breath shallow, my mind swimming in a sea of black. But even in that fading place, I swore, I would not let her win.
