Across the torn ground, beside the broken tree I assume Orion crashed through earlier, the two of them face each other. Orion hovers above the trees, wings spread wide against the rain. Even after everything I’ve seen tonight, the sight of him still makes my chest tighten. He barely looks human anymore. His body is tall. Too tall, lean and unnatural, like something stretched beyond the limits of a normal man. His feet and forearms are covered in fur, along with his entire back. Long black hair whips around his face in the wind as those golden eyes glow through the rain like molten metal. I see them flash red when he shifts slightly.

My attention was fixed on Lord Donovan, who had given a small nod that could have easily been missed if you weren’t looking. Eyes like that cursed color.” He shot a look at Vera’s necklace and grimaced. “We felt his aura before we saw him. I could barely stay on my feet. Some of the younger wolves collapsed.”

"If I meant to kill you, I'd have done it already." The figure stepped forward. He was tall, lean, and draped in black leathers. Wild, unkempt dark hair framed a sharp face. His eyes cold silver watched her with a mix of curiosity and weariness. A scar curved down his neck, just barely visible beneath his collar. He moved like a ghost, smooth and unhurried. A rogue. But not just any rogue. Orion. She had heard his name whispered like a warning, passed between warriors and witches alike. A once-Alpha, exiled for something too terrible to name. No one knew the full story only that wherever Orion walked, blood tended to follow.
