Harlow spins, eyes lighting up. “Did you see, Daddy Rook?” she grabs my hand and drags me closer, pointing at the snowman pancakes, the Santa face, the Christmas tree made of kiwi. “The elf made breakfast! And it’s so pretty!”
I crouch beside her, pretending to examine everything carefully. “Hmm, you think we should eat it? Or should we leave it for the elf in case he comes back?”
She gasps, horrified. “No! He made it for us! We have to eat it!” She scrambles into her seat, already reaching for the snowman pancakes.
